  • wonderful...sublime...

  • nice video

  • I first heard this song from Bell X1 but Damien truly brings the emotions to a new level. <3

  • ah I couldn't find any lyrics under this title..but for those of you who are still looking, its has the same lyrics as "Eve, The apple of my eye" song .. beautifully sung!

  • @sickosasha tnq

  • crazy good

  • I love this song... One of the best!

  • This song make me cry.. But she's so beautiful.

  • I can not belive this track.

  • Where can I BUY/DOWNLOAD this song?!?! I'm obsessed and can't find it anywhere!!! Can you download from Youtube??

  • Not a Willie Nelson cover...

  • Is this Damien Solo or with juniper...because 2b honest I dont even know the answer..Damien absolutely never plays this solo, at least not the past 7-8 years, so i would guess this is Juniper...right? I was asked on my channel and it got me thinking but no answer

  • Is this Juniper or Damien Rice solo?? I dont recall damien playing this Live, at least not recently

  • SO, SO BEAUTIFUL!

  • You left, I died I wept, you cried You came, I think You never really know I've served my time. I've watched you climb The wrong incline. You never really know (2x) Maybe I didn't hold you, as often as I should And I guess I for you, quite as often as I could Little things I should've said and done, but I never took the time You're always on my.. You're always on my... Tell me... Tell me that our sweet love hasn't died Give me.. Give me one more chance to keep you satisfied
  • This applies both equally to you and I The only thing that we've shared is the same sky These empty metaphors, they're all in vain. Can't you see the grass is greener where it rains? And you left, I died I wept, you cried You came, I think But I never really know I've served my time I've watched you climb the wrong... You left it I sent it I want it back You never really know Accept it, Don't let it fuck you up You never really know
  • You left it I sent it I want it back (2X) If I had you here, I'd clip your wings, snap you up, and leave you sprawling on my pen This plan of mine Is "Oh, so very" lame Can't you see the grass is greener where it rains? And you left, I died I wept, you cried You came, I think But I never really know Now I've served my time I've watched you climb the wrong incline But you never really know Accept it Don't let it Fuck you up (2X)

  • Lyrics pls!!!

  • This is totally a rendition of Bell X1 - Eve, The Apple of My Eye.

  • @Stephaos damien rice was in juniper, which is bell x1 before it was bell x1. damien wrote this song with the guys in bell x1 so he decided to let them record it and release it on their album.

  • I haven't cried that hard over a song, in well, ever...

    <3

  • I can't stop listening to this song!!! It's perfect! I love it! The lyrics, his voice...<3

  • REALLY?? ONE PERSON DISLIKED THIS? SHUN THE NON BELIEVER!!!!

  • Can't you see the grass is greener where it rains??? <3 Love Damien, love his voice, the passion he puts in all he's doing!

  • Damien wrote this song...dont care what anyone says....the chords are so very Damien. interesting how BellX1 changed it up a bit enough to call it their own....and deservingly as they did a great job w lyrics

  • It's awesome how he can sing & play and barely move the whole video

  • @forthriot that's because the video is a single still image..

  • Magic. He knew what he was doing handing it over to Bellx1 though. I think it is talented writing something for yourself to sing but writing a perfect song for someone else to sing.. well that is just genius

  • in fact it's 'Eve, the apple of my eye' by Bell X1 ;)

  • This is amazing.

  • This is the Bellx1 version I prefer, rather than the radio release, this is the album version.. (type in to the search box, The Gables Eve is the apple)

  • Love Damo's version but BellX1 later added in my favourite part of the song with their version....

When the garden snake is charmin',

and Eve says "Lets give it a try",

Now lead us not into temptation,

But no matter how hard I try...

If the garden snake is a'charmin,

And Eve says "lets give it a try"

Eve is the Apple of...... my...... eye......

  • This was when Damien was part of the group Juniper, which later broke up, Damo went on his own way and the rest of Juniper became a band called Bell-X1. Bell-X1 have this song on one of their albums, but it is not titled 'Never' it is titled 'Eve, the Apple of my Eye' it is a beautiful song and Bell-X1 really do it justice as Damien does!

  • I Truly hope this song is dedicated to lisa hannigan <3

  • The song is called eve is the apple of my eye.

  • heartbreaking..............

  • love this . is their a proper recording of this does anyone know ?

  • what a beautiful song

  • He sings so beautifully and his words are so painful.

  • if my heart can write songs and sing them, it will b like him

  • perfect. simply PERFECT.

  • I want it back.

  • Where can I download this?!!?

  • Actually, Elvis covered "Always on My Mind" too. The song was written by Willie Nelson.

  • @Spamlet1 No, it was written by Johnny Christopher, Mark James and Wayne Carson Thompson. Elvis released it as a b-side in 1972, Willie Nelson released it in 1982 and it was a big hit, that's why people think he wrote it.

  • @audiodamo owned that dude

  • @audiodamo it's first release as a single was by Brenda Lee in 1972.

  • @Spamlet1 > "Always on My Mind" is an American country music song by Johnny Christopher, Mark James and Wayne Carson, originally recorded by Brenda Lee in 1972 < quote from wikipedia

  • i cant sleep without hearing his voice, keeps my heart warm

  • I know this was an old juniper song renamed Eve...from former band.....But ths Guitar part was clearly wriiten by Damien....the same exact chord progressions he uses so often are used in many of his songs....like...."Cold water....Lonely soldier,..eskimo".....(only difference is capo on 5th fret for these) and more im sure...He isnt credited on Bellx1 CD...but hard to believe he didnt help in writing it

  • this is eve the apple of my eye

  • i think i've seen this video close to 400 times haha<3

  • 6:42 literally makes my hair stand on end lol. Oh gosh its so... sexy and full of emotion and omg.

  • could listen to damien forever......

  • @MoonNymph775 hah check out where both our comments are on this a year and a bit later

  • @garrethdavis Haha :D hey, you have more likes than I.

  • @MoonNymph775 isn't it madness? was so long ago! haha i know right ;)

  • Love it!

  • perfectly describes the regret im feeling right now...ah damo you say it so well!

  • where can i find the song text?

  • does anyone know the chords of this song?

  • same ones as cold water by damien rice i think but switched up a bit

  • G G/F# G/E Cadd9

then C D. Typical Damo chords really.

  • damien rice is such an amazing song writer

can relate to his songs so much.....

  • everysong this man writes is gold

  • thankyou SO much for uploading this! eve the apple of my eye is one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard, and will forever remind me of ireland. this version is equally lovely.

does anyone know if this alternate version is available for download anywhere? i tried searching the bit torrents for juniper, but couldn't find anything.

  • where can i download this song??

  • Amazing!!!!

  • i have always been curious if Damien did some of the writing on this one, since he never played it live- (post juniper) i dont think anyway, assume he didnt help write it.

    anyone know?

  • He does it live - or used to before the band left - as a lead into Cold Water. It's a very chilling combo live!

  • Even though I didn't find the music I was looking for...

  • Sadly beautiful...

  • Hey!! i´ve been trying to find the lyrics for this song but failled, i actually love the song, and really need the lyrics!!!! If anyone knows where to find it, plz let me Know!!!

  • its actually a cover of willie nelson's always on my mind.

  • Fantastic!

  • its actually 2 songs: never, the juniper song and always on my mind, an elvis cover.

  • that's what the title says

  • the first time i read the description, i misunderstood and thought that the song was called "never and always on my mind" (given that it fits perfectly as a full song title). reading further it says this song later on became a BellX1 song, and it didnt say half of this video is an elvis cover. i just wanted to say that in case someone made the same mistake as i did.

  • sorry man, i didn't mean to complain about your comment! sorry if my previous reply may sound rude ;)

  • dont worry, i really appreciate all these videos youve uploaded. if yo want, i have a better quality version of this song; send me a message if you want ;)

  • @audiodamo I like the way you wrote a comment before you actually listened to the song. And the weird thing is you kept on disagreeing with the lad and you have to have the song playing... Quite comical.

  • @louloumacmac sorry, I don't get what you're talking about...?

  • @audiodamo well after 42 seconds Damien starts singing and it took you a long time to agree but you should have just listenned before you commented... I just thought it a tad funny thats all.

  • @louloumacmac I really don't get which comment you are referring to, can you explain yourself better?

  • @louloumacmac I really don't know which comment you are referring to, can you explain yourself better?

  • brenda lee cover actually. elvis remade it. not picking, just informing.

  • I love that Bellx1 song thanks for the info!

  • Woooow! My god Damien, he never ceases to amaze me.

  • They are basically the same lyrics as "Eve, the apple of my eye" with a few alterations.

    And those lyrics are everywhere

  • are u shure it s called like that? I can t find lyrics... :( :( :(

    It s beautiful!!! :)

  • You can find them here... irishmusiccentral. com / juniper/lyrics_singles. html#Never

  • Thanks for posting. One of my favorite's from Damien Rice.

I had purchased his two CDs and he (and Lisa Hannigan) quickly became one of my favorite artists, so I went looking for more and found this one via bittorrent. Excellent song and performance!
