  • All the back to the egg vids( except Baby's request) were the glaring ommission from the mccartney years dvd. Don't know why he didn't just put every promo vid on there. Would rather have had that than the disc of live stuff.

  • Winter rose

  • Back To The Egg is Paul's best post-Beatles album [IMHO]. Some of his best ballads and some of his best 'rockier' stuff. Personal faves are "Love Awake" and "Spin It On" plus the 2 Rockestra tracks. Not a duffer on the whole album.

  • Paul MC is a wizard this is a pure magic album if this was football it would be in the champions league final it cant get any better than this . spin it on superb. like a Scottish whiskey it gets better and better well done Paul and wings God bless Linda

  • A much edgier, pure rock 'n roll sound. Back to those cave roots. Ha!

  • Back to the Egg, indeed. A perfect metaphor to an ending of a perfect band.

  • I "LIKE" it!!!

  • Awesome.

  • This is a great album! I bought the 8-track of it back in 1979 when it came out. I love Paul's singing especially when he is being backed up by Linda. Paul had it all back then. He is still a good singer and performer but it isn't the same without Linda.

    RIP Linda.

  • This has always been my favorite Wings release. It really had an edge to it, sad people didn't get the concept. Even sadder is that Paul has listened to critics instead of his own fans.

  • THANK YOU!!!! I had this on cassette tape back in '79....I wore it out...memories...wow!

  • Bought this on 8-track... played it every single day... Back in the day... it was

    BACK TO THE EGG!!!

  • Seriously, this video is fantastic. Thanks.

  • I agree. Always loved Back To The Egg. Wings is a serious thing.

  • Unfortunately, sales were poor, and it was near the end for Wings.

  • @TheDorr71 the great thing about albums, movies and books is that people can still find out about them years after they were made!

  • @onlyjoetee I hope so-the way fewer people read books and newspapers,I wonder. I hope the future won't be like H.G. Well's book Time Machine in the future. Books turned into dust...

McCartney's music will be treasured in our souls...

  • @TheDorr71 there are people who will come to discover these things, who have not even been born yet.Long after Paul McCartney is dead and gone, people will still be playing these songs he wrote...

  • @onlyjoetee they'll appreciate him even more then..

  • wish vid quality was better~

  • Graaaaan disco!!!

  • grande paulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • INFLUENCED MY ENTIRE MUSICIAL LIFE !! and this is some of what most people would call B SIDE STUFF. the man was and still is a musicial Genius. HONORED LAST NIGHT AT THE KENNEDY CENTER . An Icon to millions.

  • Wowzers!! Macca really went for it on his last wings album. What a great album!!

  • I think this and Speed Of Sound are my fave Wings LP's... A good time for Paul and for me personally!

  • Back to the Egg is right up there with RAM in my book. 2 super albums - 2 of my all time McCartney favorites.

    Gad, what a voice.

  • @Sungodv Good choices. I agree and you could include Flowers in the Dirt and Tug of War.

  • Back to the Egg is up there with RAM in my book. 2 super albums.

  • @Sungodv i'm with you on this! Ram is best & Back to the egg is great!

  • @bedtime4bonz They both had some really good rocking numbers. I would buy each album, and then CD when it came out and to this day, these are my favorites. Still, I love them all.

  • @Sungodv Yeah I know. I'm waiting for the latest remasters to come out on cd, got Band On The Run last year.

  • Back to the egg was very differnent than typical pop stuff which is why critics didn't like it. Its a very unique but amazing album I think!

  • this album sucked...forgettable crap...it went up against fleetwood mac rumours...the egales hotel california etc..a lot of hot stuff coming out..tom petty in his prime...and so forth..so this came off as crap....load of rubbish..no one bought it..it flopped..he ommitted goodnight tonight and daytime nightime suffering which were the best songs from these sessions but he didnt put them on the album..dumb fuck....old siam sire...the lyrics are so awful...

  • @SkunkDroppings Was your album better?

  • @cobaltjones exactly i think hes just jealous and only like 2-3 albums flopped but this album is really gd

  • @SkunkDroppings You are your name. :) Granted, not the best album put out by Paul, but still pretty damn good. I'd listen to this album non stop rather than listen to some of the stuff you mentioned ONCE.

  • @SkunkDroppings This album will outlast even Rumours when EMI releases the total Paul McCartney catalogue. This album will be one of the gems along with Band on the Run guaranteed.

  • coolio love this Wings meledy~ :)

  • Great example of why this is considered a very underrated Macca album.

  • Totally tubular to the max!

    xoxo

    The Clarences

  • @megopop09 he has done them live when he was with Wings just look on youtube. e did a bunch of them live duirng the Soace Within Us tour/DVD but not recently sadly.

  • good!

  • I loved watching him work with the musicians.

  • MacFurdith: Yes,Paul is playing a Rickenbacker 4001 in the "Getting Closer" vid. It is actually the very same one he had on the "I Am The Walrus" video.

  • I was fortunate enough to go to the press launch of this album held at Abbey Road studios. Someone asked me if I would ask Linda for her autograph and when I asked, Linda said "You sign it for me, John" and I did. Hope it never comes up on ebay!!

  • Does anyone have the slightest idea what the spoken track "The Broadcast" menas? Even though it doesnt contain any musice I still find it fascinating and can almost recite from heart. I would esteem it an honour if anyone could help me out.

  • @Spartacusten1 The Broadcast" (Featuring spoken excerpts from "The Sport of Kings" by Ian Hay and "The Little Man" by John Galsworthy)

  • @Spartacusten1 "The Broadcast" Features spoken excerpts from "The Sport of Kings" by Ian Hay and "The Little Man" by John Galsworthy- both of those are odl English plays- that's all I know

  • This is my favorite Paul's solo album.

  • The idea of the Back to the Egg album was very cool. I think Macca should have spent more time in finishing the ideas of this album.

  • Time for Paul to play a few of these AND get his Rickenbaker out

  • paul didnt play a rickenbaker

  • seriously?! you can't be serious in this comment, he got his the same time george got one directly from ric,. they ALL had one or two at sometime or another; hell even RINGO had a ric!

  • of course he did

  • In this very video @ 5:45 Paul is playing a Rickenbaker, what appears to be a 4000 series. You even get a closeup of the headstock. lol

  • Excellent

  • And Linda looked really hot in this era of Wings lol

  • Wish he would consider playing some of the tracks from this album and from London Town at his live gigs, rather than playing the same predictable set he has stuck with for the last 20 years.

  • There`s to many beatles songs on his setlist

  • amen. there are so many very good songs that he never play. i buried of jet, let me roll it, let em in, coming up, etc. i so dissapointment with the back to the us set list. 9 yeras waiting for that shit?

    why paul, why?

  • checked this LP out from the library YEARS ago. I'll admit, some of it is a bit fleshed-out in parts but other songs are hook-laden and rock! Good to hear Paul rock-out instead caving into being overly coy and disco pap he would later offer up. Lawrence Juber is also present 'nuff said!

  • John Bonham was credited on this album & I believe this is the tune "Siam Sir" he played on however the video ?, I guess they used the regular for that, didn't know there were videos for this album, great stuff, I heard this album all the way through 6 years ago & was hooked for several monthes, I played it everyday.

  • Nope, not "Siam Sir." Bonham played on "So Glad To See You Here" and "Rockestra Theme." Do a search for those two vids, and you will see a few shots of him as one of the drummers (there were more than one). I believe Keith Moon was invited to this as well, but died before it happened. However, Pete Townsend still showed up.

  • @PupuTheClown Really, didn't know that. Bonham, the man. And truly missed. Glad to see his son, Jason stepping in and doing his father proud. Peace.

  • A great collection of good songs. Back to the Egg was underrated by the too important critical people. All Paul McCartney later work after the Beatles was compared to his Beatle- years.

  • You know the ones that are putting Paul down are mostly Lennon fans. They hate Paul. And many of these are critics.

  • So true. I'm 46 and they been doing it for years. Only now are they starting to show some respect. Not the Lennon fans, they are hardcore snobs. Ed

  • Just bought the CD for Back to the Egg, around 20 years after I bought the original on vinyl. This album has haunted me throughout that time. Getting Closer is awesome - the instrumental at the end could have made a sizzling TV theme just on its own. The rest of the songs are spot on. The album is an overlooked gem by Macca.

  • @deansgatedora Maybe you can answer this mystery question from the ages. Why did only one track from BttE appear on that "The McCartney Years" DVD? Where can a guy buy a clean copy of the videos from BttE?

  • I was amazed to find this album in a shop selling second hand records in Notting Hill...it was only £3 but i had no money on me :(

  • I have a 1980 interview on record discussing the bad reviews for Back to the Egg. Paul says.. " I know one day people are going to tell me it's their favorite album". Great to see his prophecy come true. I always loved this record from the first time I heard it. I think at the time it was a bit of backlash from McCartney saturation. He did an album or single every YEAR back then!

  • Back to the egg is a really good album!!

  • What do you mea it's out of print? The CD? Can't be!

  • iTunes sells this album...

It's also got a few bonus tracks.

Rudolph the Reggae Reindeer, Wonderful Christmastime, and Goodnight Tonight (12" version) are avalible with download, too.

  • You mean Rudolph the Red Nosed Reggae... hehe... wonder why he released that

  • my dad used to play this album all the time when i was a kid,ide forgotton how good it really is,im off to buy the CD now!!!

  • back to the egg is awesome.

  • Best wings Album.

Ram & the usual for the rest, :-D

  • Too right, also the Best line up, and the last. I believe if John wasn't killed about a year later I think Paul would have kept this line up together, & kept Wings going. They were the best 70's Band, as were the Beatles of the 60's as if I needed to say that LOL. He is also Recording & Touring with the best band he has had scince Wings. Keep rocking Paul

  • wow i just bought the album on vinyl... its really good.

  • The wings on their best...

  • I wanna get this cd!-sounds awsome

  • My heavens I hope they're not high. This was the strongest line-up post Beatles. The guitarist Lawrence Juber did some good soundtrack work on Little Darlings. This album had some real creative force in places. McCartney's voice was still great on this one.

  • Great album, one of Mac's 5 best. :ove this arrangement - excellent

  • P L E A S E S E E AT 8:32

I think, this is the best "music cut" of the wings story, near perfection...

  • The best McCartney´s album !!!

  • it's pretty damn good! but Ram is the best, sorry. Band on the Run is pretty darn good too.
