This cut-scene was the best part, of the game for me it symbolized the actual alliance of the Elites and Humans.

I don't care if the green spray-paint job was done as an act of defiance against the original Covenant, or to help identify the friendly Phantoms from enemy Phantoms, but the act is significant in and of itself.

Nothing truly captivates my mind more than this cut-scene.

Why can't we learn to put our differences aside in real life, like the Elites and the Humans did here?

Why does it go from 5 pelicans to 4? At 12s it shows 5 pelicans from the angle i'm guessing chief is in the middle due to the 2 phantoms on his six. then at it 32s it shows them splitting off two pelicans left phantoms straight two pelicans right?

@RussellESwinhart I actually kept pausing, but if you pause just right then you can see one of the missing pelican's engines at 0:37. It's eith the fifth pelican or some random light. I think it is the one the drops of the warthog when you kill the AA wraith driver.

@matejoto This is kind of long. Well, a long time ago the "Forerunners" (which the humans were descendants from) ruled the galaxy. They were whiped out by the flood, leaving the Covenant with their technology. The Covenant made the Forerunners into their gods. They worshiped them. Then they discovered the humans and waged war against them because they knew they were Forerunner descendants and in order for the Prophets to keep rule they had to be exterminated because they feared that if...

The Covenant is made up of defeated Alien races that fought against the Elites and Prophets and lost. They joined the Covenant because of their defeat. And once the war had begun against the Humans, the Elites noticed that the Humans were an honorous species that were worthy to join the Covenant because they fought to the death and never gave up or ran away.

Soon they discovered that the Halo rings which the Prophets wanted to activate were actually weapons of...

So the Elites switched sides with the Humans since they were a species worth saving and because if they didn't, they would die too. Also, some of the Hunters and Grunts joined forces with the Elites and Humans but they didn't come up in Halo 3. Oh and most surprisingly, even the flood joined sides with the humans to kill the Prophet of Truth and to stop the activation of the rings but when the prophet died the truce ended.
