I'm baffled. What exactly happens at a video game premiere?

There are celebrities (who surely aren't the stars of the video game) walking down a carpet to somewhere (a cinema or a shop?). And then what? Do we all sit around whilst we watch someone play the game?

Please someone answer. I don't understand how such an event exists.

I'm guessing they explain the plot for a while and then watch some gameplay while some developer points stuff out they he particularly likes.

actually they were a lot of the games voice actors as a lot of them are English. It mainly to get some hype going. Ppl who worked on the game giving interviews, its just promotion and publicity not that the game needs any.

That's a great point. With movies, you go to a premiere to watch a movie. With this you go there to ... Buy a game. Not play it. Buy it.

Since when is a currency transaction something to right home about?

I was talking to someone who went to the Halo 3 release and he said it like some sort of badge of honor. I got the game 11 hours after him, 10 of which were me sleeping. Big deal. He never completed it btw, he just wanted to look cool.
