This is so ridiculous. What do they want us to do shut all the power plants down. Then we will be without power. I agree we need to go green. The only problem is at this time green does not supply enough power to fill our growing needs as a state. They are cleaning up the coal fired plants. It cant happen overnight. Please think before you make yourself look so silly. Do research on what you are protesting.
Georgia is home to 2 of the 3 dirtiest coal producing power plants in the country. Atlanta's main source of water, the chatahoochee, was a record low last year, with Georgia Power as one of the largest consumers of water. Nanosolar solar technology - check it out. They aren't cleaning up the coal fired plants, they're making more. 200 year old fossil fuel technology is antiquated, it's time to embrace our intellect and nourish technology that will keep the earth around as long as possible.
Have you not been by all the power plants...they are by putting in scrubbers that are going to reduce the smoke. Atlanta and its high population is a large problem. What are you doing to help...it sure isnt not useing less power is it. I bet the last time the power was off you could not wait to get it on could you. What are the plants name that are the dirtiest and what was #1. They are cleaning them up! Go by and look at some of the new stacks that are going up before you say that they aren't
They were putting pressure on a company that isn't investing money into renewable resources - that is helping. If it doesn't directly/immediately make change, then at least it brings proper discourse to light and lets the company know how its constituents feel about the negative environmental impacts they are creating. Personally, I don't drive a car, take daily showers, and limit my meat intake to help reduce my power consumption.
I use power, but not without realizing the greater consequences

I share a house with other roomates, and we conscious decisions not to use heating or ac, turn all lights out when not being used, and we've replaced all light bulbs with those twisty low-power bulbs that last forever. I know that many of the things I do are negatively affecting the environment second-handedly, which is why I don't feel comfortable at protests and environmental conferences personally. I do support their movement however, which is why I film and take pictures for them.
You just told me what kind of person you are, you have no clue. Who don't take a bath everyday..Who dont use heat when it is 20 outside. Do you walk to your protest? You cant walk everywhere. Those twist bulbs do save power but they contain mercury, why protest when you dont feel right about it. What do you suggest Nuclear Power?? Know how it works? Jimmy Carter knew, find out what he said. It needs water. Corn to run cars, no rain no corn. Find something else to do with you time. Study Dams...
OK I see the x on nuclear power, had to look closely at least you have that going for you. Take a Bath though!!! You can freeze if you want, bet you stay sick a lot so take a bath. Save someone else from getting sick.
Building immunities to germs makes you healthier. Relying on soaps and sanitizers to fight off pathogens is pointless; it kills a majority of the germs, but the ones remaining reproduce instead. These also happen to be the strongest strands genetically.

They were putting pressure on a company that isn't investing money into renewable resources - that is helping.
