As a young boy about 8 or 9 i remember going into town with my daddy to watch his tobacco sell at the local tobacco warehouse, time was so simple and good back then. I remember playing up and down the dirt road in which all 10 of us played and growed as a family, how i missed those days, we r all grown now and the angels came and took daddy home in 2001, and every once in a while i form a tear in my eyes when i go back to the home place where me and my brothers and sisters played. I love this song. My mom died in '07 and I miss her so much. She grew up around the world but ended up in West Monroe. Before she met my dad she dated Andy's younger brother Mason. She told me stories how Mason and her would sit in Andy's room and listen to him play and sing before he became famous. Its weird how she knew him.
This song reminds me of when my fiance passed in 2008. We went underway on Monday, September 8th and were supposed to go to Texas for Hurricane Relief. We never went down there and when we came back into port that week Thursday I found out that she had passed and was cremated already. I wasn't even able to say my goodbyes to her before she got cremated. Sometimes she still visits me in my dreams and I even can feel her warmth the moment I wake up.

I grew up in North Louisiana in a small dying town where there were more gravel roads than paved, I remember those summer evenings walking down the road to my Papaw and Granny's house throwing rocks and dreaming big. Me and my Papaw would ride into town and get icecream sandwiches all the while i was shadowing his every move. He passed in 1985 and she left us in 2009. My daddy passed away in 2004 when i was ten. This song was released right after he passed away. Everytime I listen to this song, I like to think that my dad is talking to me and that he is right here with me.

This song has special meaning to me. I grew up in North Louisiana in a small dying town where there were more gravel roads than paved, I remember those summer evenings walking down the road to my Papaw and Granny's house throwing rocks and dreaming big. Me and my Papaw would ride into town and get icecream sandwiches all the while i was shadowing his every move. He passed in 1985 and she left us in 2009. I love and miss those times with Jerd and Mattie Savage.

@WWIIairsoftColorado A town called Collinston in the Northeast corner of the state........it was a booming train depot in the early 1920's surrounded by cotton fields. There's two stop signs and a whole lot of memories there.

@snicolle76 Sunset has grown up so much lately. When my dad left there was only one stop light. Now it is a fairly large city and Lafeyette is starting to encrotch on it. I wish I could have grown up like my dad, Shooting rats in the swamp and shooting water snakes and such. It sounds like so much more fun than living in a city :( We go camping regularly so i get part of the expierance.

Never get tired of this song & video! Years ago when my young daughter bought the CD for my b.day ..I listened & cried thinking about my cousins , my mom & my favorite dog passing away....tonight I thought about it as I was feeling sad missing my grandbaby who spent the week end with us -in hopes his mommy could break him from nursing..well she caved and couldn't do it because he cried too much..these things are hard -OH but the beautiful dance we have that goes with it makes it so worth It!

I discovered Andy Griggs several years ago, when he was first starting out. Of course the really good stuff, like this, never makes the radio. Part of the dumbing down of America, I suppose. Anyway, every time I stop by this video, I watch it many times. Gets better every time. Incredible song.

The most peaceful song I've ever heard. I lost my Papaw a little over two weeks ago. Such a tragedy and sudden change of life right before the holidays. Thanks to Andy Griggs for singing such an amazingly comforting song. I love this song and the meaning and emotion behind it. I miss you Papaw. I love you always.

Memories of a friend I had known sinse a very young child who later became my Brother in-law. I always dreamed of having a brother,HE WAS the "Brother" I never had. He passed away at the very young age of 28. This song makes me think of him so much. He would not want us sad,or to shed a tear. The young man in the video with the black hat on looks so much like Jackie it is unreal! We have pictures of him at a family cookout with a hat an tank top on. Them were the good times! Miss him so much.

this song was played at my grandmother's funneral. she deffinetly was the most important person in my life and had a great impack on me. i see more and more of her in me everyday. im in my teenage years and this is really when i need her the most. over all, she was the most painful to let go and accept that she wouldnt be comming back. she said she wanted to have this song played at her funneral, so it was played, i cry like a baby everytime i hear this song. On Monday November 8, 2010 I lost my best friend one that meant alot to me and that man never slept and helped out every person he knew. He once said " I can fix anything but a broken heart" and that was very true about him cos now he's gone, we all have broken hearts cos there is no other man in this lifetime or world that can take his place. This song hits home, without a doubt, the second word comes out and tears fall from my eyes. I lost my mother on July 10th, 2009 to Breast Cancer. The day before she died, she looked at me, and said, "don't cry, im not aftaid to die." To this day, not a day goes by that I don't think about her, think about the memories, and the good times we had together. Being 20 years old, and losing the last member of my family. Its the hardest thing to live with, knowing you couldnt do anything to help...

I knew Andy when he and I were in school together...if he comes across as down to earth and a real person it's because is he....I was fortunate enough to have met his brother, who he dedicated this song to. Anything Andy has gotten he has earned and I'm glad y'all have enjoyed this song so much.

They suffer and go on they are not afraid to die. They know that they will go on to a better place.....I know that God loves us all but why do they suffer so? God why? They are not afraid..Why?Why?
