Agreed, when the team spend a month on the edge, it helps shapes them up for the challenge. The 2000 Yankees were more of an inverted example however, I remember when they lost almost every games in September. After looking back, it's a bit surprising how they were able to survive Cone's sucking since his injury and a certain mid-season trade flop that went 7-7 after the deadline. It was pretty hectic.

Yeah about the 30 win season, it can still happen depending on the support.

Same with the Rockies in a way, the fact that they swept though two series led to that 10 days layoff. Makes you wonder what they have been doing all this time while the ALCS was going on.

In the end, it's really about momentum and how far it can still carry the team. Part of the reason why there have been fair number of teams with less then 90 wins winning the World Series.

There's so many factors in the postseasons that makes the outcomes really unpredictable. I really doubt anyone could have seen the Rockies hot streak in 2007 coming, until that ten days of doing nothing and it went downhill for them.

Yeah, when it comes to postseason anything can happen. I do believe that even in their current shape, the Tigers still have the capability to steal a series so it should be tough for whoever it matches up against.

Making it past the ALCS would be a stretch but I wouldn't be surprised if they wins the ALDS.
