I'm amazed Tyson done as well as he did here, Ruddock was formidable back then and Tyson was fading even here. It would've been great if Tyson could've stayed on the right track, he could have had so many more incredible fights, we may have even had another 'golden age' of heavyweight boxing. Tyson lost to the good fighters of his era (holyfield, lennox lewis). Yeah - he looked great killing marvis frazier and bruce seldon but who the f cares? we'll never know, but Tyson would have been so ripe for a 1971 George Foreman. 6 inches taller. I'm amazed Tyson done as well as he did here, Ruddock was formidable back then and Tyson was fading even here. It would've been great if Tyson could've stayed on the right track, he could have had so many more incredible fights, we may have even had another 'golden age' of heavyweight boxing. I don't even watch Tyson fights after the Ruddock ones, as far as I'm concerned he was no longer Mike Tyson after those.

I cant agree on that...Mikes style is great for his height and fast fiber muscle speed that he posseses.Thing he lacks is motivation and physical stability. His head was in big mess. Holyfield is a real warrior and smart fighter but he didnt won because he is better, he won because Tyson destroyed himself. Today there is no boxing style, everybody are biger and they are using their morfologyical measures as advantage (longer arms like Klicko, Lewis, Valuev, Haye) there is no SKILL

@BIGxRICK Rocky Marciano was found to have been the strongest puncher in boxing. The amount of force in his punch was measured and found to be enough force to spot lift 1000lbs a foot off the ground. If him and Tyson had met in their primes Marciano woulda mopped the floor with him.

When tyson fought against Holyfield wasn't at his best but even so I would agree that Holyfield could have defeated him. Holyfield is the bravest fighter ever.i can't believe it. And keep in mind thta he is not a natural heavywight fighter so that adds even more merit to his career. He never hide in a fight, honest and bravehearted as anyone. But he should have retired before.Tyson was a beast, a killer,I really admire him too.he saved the boxing in the 80s.I wish someone could do the same today

In my view, i think tyson under rooney would have put ruddock out in 4 rounds altho Razor is a hard hitter too, but the tyson and rooney partnership was UNDISPUTED..!!!!

I always thought that Tysons style in this fight is perfect, nice mix between power,defense,attack and footwork. Never seen tyson this economic yet deadly.
Richie didnt do the groundwork of cause, d'amato and rooney did that.
I think Tyson, whenever he trains for real and is serious, is just always good. The Tyson who dont train and party, will always just suck and will lose to just about anyone.

Richie might not be as good a trainer as Rooney, I dont know really, but he knows how to get his man in shape and ready, mentally and physically..and that is what Tyson needs more than anything else. Boxing comes easy and naturally to him that is not the problem, problem is discipline and to get up for fights.

All the talk about how great Lennox and Evander was. I would have like to see Evander and Lennox fight Tyson in his prime. Not after jail and years of layoffs. Buster fought well and even though I think that Tyson did not train very seriously for the fight you can tip it to a bad fight.
