  • Long live Tim Smith, the greatest songwriter on earth.

  • Good God, how he holds the 'out' for the last two minutes...remarkable, utterly remarkable. I wish I could've seen them live.

  • What's the song at the start? or is it just an intro to dirty boy?

  • cardiacs fucking rock. bombastic! ..as we do...

  • The definitive display of music....ever....Tim Smith IS a fucking genius.......ALWAYS....end of.......the GREATEST song ever written....FACT

  • Have been crying all morning watching videos like this. Cardiacs changed my life too, profoundly. I first saw Cardiacs supporting Here and Now in 1985. Since then, maybe missed around twenty gigs while i was living in Asia. Travelled to Holland of course for the Charabangalang and all the other special gigs like the church in Salsbury. There simply is nothing out there remotely as challenging, terrifying, uplifting and moving as the work of Tim Smith. I love you Tim. Get well soon!!

  • This song changed my life.

  • Closer to god than anything on earth

  • Pure Genius!

  • A NEW DEFINITION FOR MUSIC!!!!

  • AAAAAHH!!

    Beyond human!

  • saw them several times, just taking a trip down memory lane, brixton fridge on a sunday club dog thing sticks out though, fantastic.

  • The way everybody's hands come up right on the climactic word 'out'...just fantastic. I am in that crowd, somewhere, having the time of my life.

  • i kid you not, this is the singular greatest song ever written.

no song has ever dared challnge the boundaries of conventional songwriting and yet maintained the emotion, groove and downright exceptional awesomeness that this song does.

words can genuinely not express the power this song has. completely and totally perfect in every aspect. my eternal applause........

  • absolutely, without any doubt! your sum it up pretty nicely!

  • i dunno, maybe 'Fanny' by Spratley's Japs pips it

  • @nonpoint418 i wholeheartedly agree.i remember when i got the album and played this while my less informed brother was in the room.got to the part ,,over and out and 3 minutes later he said,,how the fuck can he do that without taking a breath haha

  • Simply brilliant! Hairs on arms stood up like little soldiers.

  • STILL Standing on my chair applauding.

  • how i enjoyed pulling my hands up....for eternity!

  • Standing on my chair applauding.

  • i got drunk with this lot 27 years ago

  • I am much too unimpressive..cannot find my hands :)

this lovely tune floated from high up on the mountain down some valley in Himachal Pradesh / India at 12:00, 31.12.1999...one of the best moments of my life!

  • Does anyone know how tim is after his ironic cardiac arrest?

  • praise beautiful Timmy off his pins, clear him of all sins.

  • Best song ever!

  • You're stupid

  • Agreed.

  • This is probably THE best live version of ANY song ever written or played. For those who love the original as much as me....This actually manages to top the recorded version.....The most impossibly fucking amazing band you can ever dream of.....Roll on the tour.......They're BACK...Everyone else might as well pack up their guitars and go home.

  • Awe inspiring majesty

  • This song is the greatest living, breathing noise in history....hold his mouth and stop him breathing....over and out....and when I go...I'm going out to this....fucking genius

  • pure genius. nearly wet myself when they played this at astoria this year

  • Thank you, thank you Mr Minnow!!! I was there.

  • Went to the Nottingham gig last night. Don't think my jaw's got off the floor yet. Awesome.

  • Love! absolutely love

  • I literally have tears of joy pricking watching this, one of the best Cardiacs tracks IMHO.

  • It was a damn fine night out, all three were, but I'll not fuck your hat, sir.

  • Fuck my hat, this was a good gig!

  • cardiacs-simply amazing-saw um at astoria 06 and many times in the past.

    the joy!

  • thank you thank you thank you

  • This is pure magic - The Cardiacs are totally awesome!

  • Nine days away...Quick! Someone get me a ticket from the States to London!

  • cardiacs playing the Astoria 10th Nov 2006... all must see.

  • Strewth,I know a fan of Pies what'll never watch this.My fingers are visible, my total joy isn't. There is no band better than Cardiacs, spoken AND meant.

  • This is an awful rendition of Dirty boy. Tim or Kavus is out of tune or they both are. ooooh it's nasty up me head.

  • live means live.. rough and ready..towards the end of a hour half set..a million chords..all falceto singing...still amazing. :-)

  • Come to the Astoria, Mr Minnow - We'll have a whip round if necessary, assuming you're in the UK. To see Cardiacs live is like nothing else. One giant happy family.

  • No such luck, I'm across the ocean. Otherwise I'd be there in a heartbeat, haha.

  • nice - thanks MrMinnow, me and a couple of mates are gonna see the Cardiacs for the first time on Nov 10th at the Astoria :) yay yayaaa

  • Lucky, I wish I could go, haha. I haven't had the chance to actually see them except through bootlegs and Mare's Nest. I'll make it one day though.

  • haha - the video camera I was behind (it was in the sound booth). I watched some of the gig through it too. I wondered at the time when all this might surface on the interweb :)

  • to understand what's going on here is to enter unimaginable vistas of joy.

  • Thanks for providing the vid for the best song ever by the best band ever. You are worthy of laudation!

  • Fucking amazing???? How dare you underrate this video ;)

  • Simply beautiful.

  • Totally fucking amazing.No-one else comes close.
