Have been crying all morning watching videos like this. Cardiacs changed my life too, profoundly. I first saw Cardiacs supporting Here and Now in 1985. Since then, maybe missed around twenty gigs while i was living in Asia. Travelled to Holland of course for the Charabangalang and all the other special gigs like the church in Salsbury. There simply is nothing out there remotely as challenging, terrifying, uplifting and moving as the work of Tim Smith. I love you Tim. Get well soon!!
i kid you not, this is the singular greatest song ever written.
no song has ever dared challnge the boundaries of conventional songwriting and yet maintained the emotion, groove and downright exceptional awesomeness that this song does.
words can genuinely not express the power this song has. completely and totally perfect in every aspect. my eternal applause........
@nonpoint418 i wholeheartedly agree.i remember when i got the album and played this while my less informed brother was in the room.got to the part ,,over and out and 3 minutes later he said,,how the fuck can he do that without taking a breath haha
I am much too unimpressive..cannot find my hands :)
this lovely tune floated from high up on the mountain down some valley in Himachal Pradesh / India at 12:00, 31.12.1999...one of the best moments of my life!
This is probably THE best live version of ANY song ever written or played. For those who love the original as much as me....This actually manages to top the recorded version.....The most impossibly fucking amazing band you can ever dream of.....Roll on the tour.......They're BACK...Everyone else might as well pack up their guitars and go home.
This song is the greatest living, breathing noise in history....hold his mouth and stop him breathing....over and out....and when I go...I'm going out to this....fucking genius
Strewth,I know a fan of Pies what'll never watch this.My fingers are visible, my total joy isn't. There is no band better than Cardiacs, spoken AND meant.
Come to the Astoria, Mr Minnow - We'll have a whip round if necessary, assuming you're in the UK. To see Cardiacs live is like nothing else. One giant happy family.
haha - the video camera I was behind (it was in the sound booth). I watched some of the gig through it too. I wondered at the time when all this might surface on the interweb :)
Long live Tim Smith, the greatest songwriter on earth.

Good God, how he holds the 'out' for the last two minutes...remarkable, utterly remarkable. I wish I could've seen them live.

What's the song at the start? or is it just an intro to dirty boy?
