  • That first track tight!!! how much you want for it?

  • @aveboy101

It was a preset pattern...comes with the machine.

  • midi in? support

  • I've finally got the microphones, the keyboards, the synths, the guitars, and the basses (built into the SR-18).

But until I can figure out how to record and build my own fucking drum tracks, I'm dead in the water.

    It's getting irritating.

  • @SeedsOfHatred ? the fuck r u talkn to man!

  • @lloplop I'm sorry?

  • @SeedsOfHatred question mark = confusion over your message. "the fuck r u talking to man" = who the fuck are you talking to, man?

  • @lloplop Ah. English is a pretty straight-forward language, kiddo. Why people insist on butchering it, I have no idea. Perhaps simple 3-letter words are simply too difficult for some; I don't know. Surely you can see how this causes some confusion, though.

In any case, I'm speaking to whomever cares to listen. The implication of my comment is that I'm having trouble figuring out how to record and build my own drum tracks. This should be obvious to most who are well-versed in basic English.

  • @SeedsOfHatred Any1 who is, lol, "well-versed" in english, who has n e common sense, or who is engaged socially, it would b obvious what eye meant. Ur herd mentality is rather sad. u desperately cling to the pre-established system with no mind of ur own. How do u think dialects form? y do u think english is different than 300 yrs ago? It only causes confusion to a square, unoriginal, close-minded person who cant think for themselves. U need to travel the world. Look at intention, not language.

  • @lloplop My my. Such hostility.

It's rather ironic; we speaking about understanding language, because if you look closely, my last response to you was, in it's entirety, a smartassed remark. A drawn-out way of saying "I'm clearly looking for help in operating this damn thing. Open your fucking eyes."

So the lesson to be learned is, don't ask stupid questions and you wont get stupid responses.

  • @SeedsOfHatred the only hostility is in ur shallow interpretations. a 'smart assed response" doesnt necessarily entail completely divorcing urself from reality. I was merely making a "smart assed remark" to u and, for some reason, u felt the need to get *hostile* and attack my english! ur "smart assed remark" was full of negativity. ur screen name is probably some good insight as to why u interpreted my initial remark with hatred. ur exp in life has made u a hypersensitive cynic. chill.

  • @SeedsOfHatred and u interpreting my words as hostile is called projection...

    "Just throwin' that out there"

  • @lloplop "Ur herd mentality is rather sad. u desperately cling to the pre-established system with no mind of ur own"

You're right, context is not a part of language, and insults are not a part of hostility. At least, in your view.

And I never claimed I wasn't being hostile. My original comment was very clear. You insisted on making idiotic inquiries about it.

Again, not gonna argue this. I've learned not to feed your kind. Adieu.

  • @SeedsOfHatred "You're right, context is not a part of language, and insults are not a part of hostility. At least, in your view"

In my view? ..huh? what. u have run out of shit to say and now you have voyaged off into completely nonsensical responses. Language obviously is born out of context. How can anything come before context. This is not my subjective speculation! it is an objective academic fact. Insults are very commonly used to show affection...

  • @lloplop hate all you want SEEDSOFHATRED but....I love you.

  • @SeedsOfHatred ...I tell my sister "hey bitch" or my friend "hey pussy".... so yeah, insults are not hostility it SURPRISE depends on the context :)

I made no idiotic inquiries. I made a playful comment and u r mr sensitive w lots of baggage and negativity and interpreted negativity that wasnt there because u r negative. get it?

  • @lloplop Additionally, not that it matters, but I thought I'd point out: language indicates intention.

    Just throwin' that out there.

  • @SeedsOfHatred "language indicates intention" Um no, it doesnt. Define language. What is language? What are words? You can always deconstruct what someone says into meaninglessness. Context defines intention, not solely language. Language is a tool that PARTIALLY helps to guide. Again, context is more indicative of intention than language is.

  • @lloplop In the real world, context is a part of language.

I'm not gonna troll with you about something as meaningless as this, kiddo. Tell me how to program the SR-18 or get lost.

    K?

  • @SeedsOfHatred Conext is part of language? Lol wtf r u talking about? yea and Im a banana because I eat bananas. Everything is everything else. Everything is connected. Conventionally speaking (philosophy) language is created from context. Language is part of context. Anyway...

I'll help you. Go to google and search for the PDF manual. Easy as 1, 2, 3...

  • is this good for playing live? and nice video.

  • @SummernlightningUSA I try listening to the song you want to emulate and try to match up the tone, volume of each drum and cymbal as well as the beat. Takes hours and the best thing to save your work on is another unit. You can save info to an actual tape cassette but i haven't seen one in years! Old school for sure but a great, great unit.

    Peace

  • WHAT ARE YOU PLUGGED INTO IT LOOKS LIKE A COMPUTER I'M GETTING A SR 18 IS THAT PLUG DOESN'T LOOK LIKE MIDI WILL THE SR 18 SOUND THIS GOOD PLUGGED INTO REGULAR SPEAKERS

  • Anyone knows witch footswitch is best for the sr-18?

Kann mir jemand sagen welches Footswitch sich für den SR-18 eignet? In diesem Falle wäre das ja eins mit zwei Pedalen?

  • can you step record on it ??

  • It's kinda hard to fully determine because of the way you recorded it, but sounds like this is a little beast with nice sounds and a good groove. Are the pads any good? Cheers!

  • How do can you get some horns on the Alesis sr-18? i wud really appreciate it.

  • @EverD80

    Sequencer.

  • This one sounds great!:D, i rather buy this one than alessis sr 16, 16 is quite boring, 80's style, bad

  • @angiesuricata I was thinking the same thing

  • Hi I am able to program new beats with my alesis sr18 as long as they are "straight ahead 1234" but whenever I try to program a swing or shuffle beat it will not quantize. if I turn the swing function on or off it makes no difference. Can someone tell me what im supposed to do? The manuel is not helping

  • Comment removed

  • @Letryk

sorry, that doesent answer my question. If There is anyone else out there who really knows what they are talking about and can help me please let me know thanks

  • Comment removed

  • How can I convert a "straight ahead 1234 beat? (every breath you take) into a swing/shuffle beat on the sr 18, can somebody tell me? When I turn swing mode on to the beat I recorded nothing happens, dont know what the hell to do.

  • @SummernlightningUSA the swing feature only changes the micro-second internal timing device to "create" a swing feel, not a swing or "shuffle pattern. You would need to program a shuffle beat for a swing feel.....

    ( / // / // ...)

  • @lilcaesarlv

Thanks for taking the time. Alesis doesent pick up the phone so I had to ask on here.

  • this thing is awesome. what else do you need other then the machine

  • 1:59

    sounds like Goa trance 0.O

  • can you make your own click tracks

  • does this take samples?

  • First video I've seen for one of these that doesn't sound like a stupid ringtone that comes with your phone..

  • love it how are you rec that helpppppppppppppppppppppp

  • i was merely commenting on the fact that you said in your vid post that it was your beats and samples but really they are presets that came with this device out of the box. but whatever.

  • Why do people hate on drum machines?

  • 51000 views huh, why? i figured out how to do that 1 minute after pulling it out of the box. shits gay dude.

  • @ghostsciencemusic - i pulled up this video to see a review before buying one... i'm sure alot of people came here for the same reason.

  • how much better is this thing than the Sr-16? does it have more features and can you put tempo changes through out songs on it?

    looking to maybe upgrade

  • @emperorofthenorth5 the SOUND is 100 times better. the sr16 is absolutly bassfree.

  • @DjKeeper do I understand that you can put instruments (basses, guitars) through it as well and record a track like that?

  • What kind of stereo did you connect the Alesis to?

  • pls, demo in spanish...

  • can you add your own samples to this thingy?

  • would you rather get this machine or the akai XR20??? which is better

  • Could I use this instead of an actual drummer. Lmao.

  • So you can add a bass track with these? Cool. I'm used to the old cheap styles.

  • Sounds cool

  • Alesis sr18 moost shit drum machine

  • I think I have to agree after looking at the clip of the Akai MPC5000. But I but an Alesis anyway because it was cheaper.

  • I prefer sr16

  • sound horroble man sounds like shit

  • @h2o2water I have one of these, he's just got shitty sound quality, probably recorded with the camera's onboard mic. All he's playing though are the onboard preset beats, which is disappointing. I should upload some of the beats I've made on it, just because no one else seems to have done that that I can see. There are 100 preset beats, and 100 slots for user beats... I'm running out of user slots, gonna have to delete my old stuff soon.

  • you can make unique patterns by assigning different sounds from different drum kits to each pad, and then edit each sound quite a bit. you can end up making some pretty cool-sounding stuff. you can tune each sound up or down by 12 semi-tones, edit attack, decay and envelope filters and all sorts of stuff. mine never fails me. if something doesn't sound right, i KNOW it's because of ME, not the machine.

  • Comment removed

  • sorry for the stupid question which i prolly know the answer to, but you can get any intervallic relationship going with the bass right? like if i wanted to do not a major scale but some weird shit that sounds horrible i could program it to do that?

  • Comment removed

  • hehe

  • Could u tell me, which Audio Interface do u use??

    Many thanks!!

  • Looks like Lexicon Omega

  • I have one, its a good machine to buy for beginners

  • can u have techno on it just like on the pads so u can play techno sounds

  • I'm seriously buying one of these and going solo!

  • Lol

  • Reminds me of Nine Inch Nails.

  • Sounds Industrial.

  • Nice machine.

  • the fills arent as cool a the sr-16's fills, but sr-18 sounds good. the bass is totally lame

  • when you switch from A to B or vise versa do you have to press fill so that it does a fill right before the switch or does it automatically do a fill?

  • Hit fill, and it will do a fill before switching. Hit the opposite beat, and it will switch without the fill. Both ways will finish the current beat count before switching.

  • just watching this vid i seen him hit the fill then the roll for Build up thats cool thanks

  • that was a preset

  • wow thats sad. Pathetic even. Write your own shit noob.

  • Hey, can you let me use this? If not I'll just use it anyways. What a manipulative bitch.

  • nice dude. I wished i'da got this instead of the Zoom SB246 Street box. Oh well, live and learn. Keep on jammin'

  • The StreetBoxx is a good machine if you edit the sounds and make your own kits ,you'll get more out of it.

  • fucking awesome, really liked the synth bass riffs towards the first half, would listen to that part in my car

  • Wondering the 18 comes with computer interface software?

  • how sensitive are the buttons? and do they feel pretty durable (for those of us who might get a little carried away)?

  • sweet beat. cool machine. i got the HR-16 myself.

  • yes I can. you can connect all the Instrument you like (guitar, bass, etc....)from Input instrument, the input signal will be mixed with the audio from the unit.

  • Question: Can u load ur own samples onto this? like piano loops for instance?

  • naw, get an mpc or a roland mv
