looks like you having fun! That Defender needs a 2" lift to make it through that type of stuff also with a set of muddies it would destroy that track!
50/50 banden. Dus geenpure modderbanden, maar ook geen pure wegbanden. Maar als je met je buik tegen de grond geplakt zit, maakt het niet meer uit welke banden je hebt... :-S
I'm from South Africa, and we hate mud!! Rocks, sand, dunes, mountains etc are all fine, but mud is the worst to get stuck in. Nice recovery and good common sense!
in most cases a tow recovery is first choice, a quick yank and on you go. being stuck down a narrow lane with such a distance between motors that your joining 2 ropes....if you have a winch IN THIS SITUATION winch first choice
nicely done there u shld try snatch recovery with a very strong bungee rope ....the idea is the elasticity in the rope also adds momentum and puts less strain on the recovery vehicles fastening fixtures and chassi give it a go sometime
to short a run with the strap you needed more of a run up and you had the snatch straps connected wrong. the way you had them together i mean.never place a D shakle in two straps its one way of killing windows and people
NEVER, EVER, EVER use the winch again like that! you MUST put something over the cable somewhere around the middle. If it breaks it snaps towards the ground. A belt, a t-shirt, a towel...something.
Just because I happened to stand like that. It is true that I should have turned around to be able to properly pull him out, although I think that wouldn't have worked either.
It looked like you discovery was on road tyres, i am impressed that it could move at all! Nice one for putting a new landrover through its paces, more people should do that.
Actually, it was what you call a 'bungie cord', with is a kinetic cord. Digging the axles out wasn't really an option, as it was all so muddy... We couldn't see a thing.
it may have actually helped that he was going backwards...the reverse gear is usually a little lower that 1st gear. This way, he would have more torque
i think u need to cover more ground when u backing up and build up more speed before it starts pulling with elastic ropes?

winches are slow as hell compared to snatching,, winching is reserved for when snatching dosent work.

Just curious: Were you speaking Dutch? Flemish? Norwegian? Where did this take place?
LDean5643 3 years ago
I'm Flemish. This was recorded in "De Kempen" in Flanders/Belgium.
Where are you from?
klaasbals 3 years ago
I'm from the USA. I was just curious about where this took place and I know it wasn't Danish, so I figured Flemish.
Thanks!

ah!..some understands the power of the stretch. if u got a good peice, u can stretch
and stop, sometimes the stretch alone will
be enough to pull.

try digging your axels out first. try getting a thick bungie cord fir a tow rope. seen it on top gear and it really did work
