  • wht is the point of posting crap like this?

  • What a waste of time ¬¬.

  • very unhelpful i thought they were going to show a timelasp thing but no USLESS VID!

  • useless

  • One the the leaste helpful video's in the biodiesel section i've watched

  • I used new veg oil in my 02 plate transit for 3 years neat, bit hard to start in cold but no mods and went really well, however, i'm now making my own bio diesel and although more effort is needed, its a better fuel in my opinion.

  • Hello,

This is fascinating. I own a business w/ a few diesel vehicles and can't wait to process my own. The kicker that holds me back is washing and drying.

How does this waterless process work and how can we get started?

  • hi i done all the mixing and washing and seperating stuff to make bio diesel but found a much easier way is to take new or filtered used veg oil and mix in 5% white spirits(think its called mineral spirits in the States?) as this thins the veg oil, and after a couple of days use it in your vehicle. I use it neat in the summer but add a % of diesel when winter draws in or use a twin tank system.

  • wow, talk to me in a year when your fuel injectors clog up, or something worse happens. just because the show top gear tries it dosnt mean you should. Pure veggie oil wont work in the long run unless you use a 2 tank system

  • hi,i have run mine for over two years using a twin tank system and have done over 34,000 miles and changing my fuel filter every 6 months had no problem with my Lucas fuel system.

  • will i have just known a couple of people that tried to run the straight veggie oil with a little "white spirit". the only problem is that the 5% wont affect the viscosity by any real amount. And you could just forget the spirit since you are using the 2 tank system. And by the way, this recipe will not work with a unmodified system, like the one they show on the show.

and thanks for sharing your story on this topic

  • Well thanks for your input. as your probably aware,Lucas CAV rotodiesels as fitted 2 my car dont like veg oil, this is why i use white spirit which is about 2.5 litres in a tank full & ive had no problem unlike others usin the Lucas system. secondly, i dont know what u mean by unmodified system? apart from a jerry can in my boot for diesel 2 purge my fuel system its standard. ive used old & new oil in an engine thats now done 162,000 miles without a hitch so i fink i know what i"m up2 ;-)

  • The problem wont be injectors clogging; veg oils is thicker and a good solvent, so it will blow seals and wear things out faster, and it will clean fuel lines, the stuff cleaned off then can clog filter.

My bro uses 50/50 veg/ diesel, all in 1 tank, he has bosch pump.
