Confirmed: When you get hit by a human, you can quit and then chose "resume game" from the main menu. The achievement will unlock if you make it to the end without getting hit.

i was going for the not dieing achievement on this level and the camera craps out to all hell when you lift wall with eva on the platforms

Especially since he's wrong.

As soon as you die the game saves that you've died.

A good little tip on this game is if your in a pickle and about to die, just press start and quit the game. Select continue game from the main menu and you won't have to do the whole level again to get the perseverance achievements.
