Best Dubstep Bass Tutorial - FL Studio

I did exactly what you did, everything looks pretty much like yours. But sytrus just sounds like a piano with effects on, nothing like a bass. I did have troubles with the speed, I could not make my bassline speed up. Basically, I screwed up. This is my second try, I cannot tell what I'm doing wrong.

@999Cosmo1 The reason being is because, when you open styrus its not automatically set to "Default".

Therefor you must manually change this.

Follow the below instructions.

1. Open styrus (Derp Slerp).

2. You will see on the top left hand corner of styrus, a drop down arrow.

3. Go down to "Presets".

4. On the top left hand corner of the table that comes up when you hit "Presets", should be the word "Default".

After this has been done, you can proceed with the tutorial set by this amazing dude ;).

You either keep the microphone far too close to your mouth, or it's in desperate need of a pop screen because your Ps and Bs look to be about 30db louder than the rest of your speech, if I'm reading the on-screen volume right. A bit fuzzy so it's hard to tell. That makes it very unpleasant to listen to, and since the whole point of a video like this is to be listened to, that's rather counter-productive.

@acrios90 hmmm well i would suggest first finding the horizontal height (of the green blob that you can shape) that will create a wobble that IS on beat. that should be easy enough. then you can quicken it or slow it down based around the beat. its not really that important that the slower and faster wobbles be exactly on beat so long as you come back to a tempo that DOES work with your beat. hope that helps. peace

@MusicAsMedicine88 what makes the wobble is the filter if you look closely took me a bit to catch it myself cuz i had the same problem. everything else about the 2 ops you can do anything to those shapes as long as you make the filter look like triangles it'll wobble. and when you click the little down arrow on the left and go to presets you can choose different sounds to wobble but it resets each time a new on is selected

The edit events in piano roll won't work for me... :/ I right click the 'speed' then click 'edit events in piano roll' then when I'm in the piano roll, I do exactly as you say, from low to high to change the speed etc... But when I play it back the speed doesn't actually change? But in Sytrus it shows that it's changing, but it speed stays in sound... any ideas?

I noticed you forgot to tell people to switch sytrus preset to default, change op1 from 2.0 to 0.5 and turn on declick, and switch filt 1 cut down almost all the way. @TheGolown Right click the SPEED knob in SYTRUS under the triangle shapes.

There are 4, you want the leftmost.

A pop up menu will say edit events...

You can then go to TOOLS in the editor ( the wrench symbol) and click on LFO, reset

Right click THAT speed knob and tell it how many steps 1/2/4/8 ...

The event editor is NOT located in the piano roll but sent there from various knobs and plugins (example FastLP CUTOFF/ right click the knob, choose edit events)

vsts sound basically the same. Your computer/soundcard is the "problem".

Get a nice distortion plugin to get a better sound, (LE POULIN 456 (free) for BASSSSSSS!!!, and then some...)

Also I can very much recommend Howtomakeemusic's channel here on you tube for excellent tuts on many effects and FLPs and such.

Also KVR audio for vsts
