dont know why but it sounds a bit like sultans of swing or at least it has a bit a mark knopfler sound to it :P although they cant be compared off course
does anyone know how he gets that particular tone??? I'm not talking about the "its all in his fingers" idea, which ofcourse is true, but i'm curious what type of gear he is using...guitar pickups, amps...
Maybe this has been said a hundred times before, but the "Théâtre antique de Vienne", where this was shot, is NOT in Vienna, as written in the description. Its south of Lyon.
i think yngwie malmsteen or steve vai or john petrucci are also good and fast players but they play electric guitar this one is much harder to get these sounds from that kind of guitar i know becouse i have one.... all i can say this is amazing!!!!! greetings from a finnish gypsy
The usual high level Rosenberg family playing. No surprise. The result of practising relentlessly and being surrounded by high caliber musicians. Common western society ADHD people stand no chance! People can envy all they like. Only dedication and hard work can make one get to this level. Love the Rosenberg Trio!!!
There is another video of The Rosenburg Trio playing For Sephora on Youtube, from 1994. I think it's great to listen to both. They were so amazing in '94, but now they play together so seamlessly, it is perfection. And Stochelo's tone has only gotten better over time too. Just masterful. ( also, the matching suits from '94 look pretty funny now...it's casual but I do prefer the jeans and T-shirts!)
Well, I've seen this video 50 times last years...It's astonishing. And today I found a recent version of it...he play the same solo!! check it, search 'ROSENBERG TRIO GIPSY JAZZ HOLLAND. 1.INTERVIEW 2.FOR SEPHORA. 3.DOUBLE JEU. 4.SPAIN'.
I don't want to be anoying, but a soloist of his size...it's a very hard work, not only talent (his is HUGE), full time life. There's big homework behind, we only see the show, he improvs choosing the ways he walked before...
@barcelocarvajal Sometimes he changes it a bit, especially when there's a guest onstage taking the first chorus, but he decided to keep it always the same because the audiences worldwide want to hear this version note for note... The chorus itself became like a looooong theme... And it's so perfect, after all why not. Check my version with Bireli on my channel and you will cry :D cheers !
@MarioMaccaferriRules Thanks Mac, yes of course I supose he repeats because he get a maybe perfect solo theme, is a good reason to repeat exactly note by note. Like Parker or Django. The video playing Ballester and Stochelo is great, o the other playing 5 at time. I like this 'old' version of Sephora, arrive at a great climax. But your version wt Bireli it's great too of course. Top professionals what else. I enjoy wt Stechelo enjoying, It's great, like a child playing. Smile for years please!
se le va una nota nada que ver, toca demaciado bien pero la lastima es que no ocupan tecnica de bloqueos, igual se puede hacer aunque toques muy rapido...
Folks...there is no comment.....just listen.....and everything around does not matter....you got it....it is not important if it is Gypsy, manouche, gitane.....it is music from a Human beeing played in gods style :)
Just to clarify, Gitane is a brand of Gypsy Style guitar, as well as a slang word used to describe Gypsy Django Style acoustic guitars. While I am not sure which exact model Mr. Rosenberg is using in this clip, it is perfectly acceptable to call it a Gitane guitar. I am not sure if this was his #504 model. Either way, you can call it a Gitane and still have it be proper terminology but the true proper term is a Manouche guitar. Stochelo is my idol, DAHSO Maudah!!! YAI these gadjo are funny
@ElectricDjango86 @ElectricDjango86 I'm glad you are an expert on gypsy jazz guitar semantics. With this knowledge I can tell the Rosenbergs and Basilys of this world that they are using the wrong terms when they refer to their Selmer Mac style guitars. The model Stochelo is using is the Eimers Guitars Stochelo Rosenberg Signature Model.
the say that stochelo is django. I say stochelo is the type of artist that has taken the traditional jazz manouche gitarre to even a higher level. django would be proud.
for anyone to say that stochelo and cousins do not play gypsy jazz cannot know much about the style. and then to say they have 'the secret' really has nothing to share. let your notes speak the truth. words mean nothing.
c'est le plus beau chorus de Stochelo, un état de grâce, un solo de génie de la guitare, tout est là, virtuosité et musicalité. A écouter encore et encore !
I saw once a concert of them where they varied with the tempi: sometimes fastening the tempo, sometimes slowing down. That was an awesome performance!
Everytime I think I'm a great guitar player because I took my playing to the next level and feel so very content with myself I come here for to be put into place.
Tis a very humbling experience, but inspires me so much.
