  • 1945? it sounds like 1970's!

  • 1940's sounds like 1980's.

  • I am [insert age considered quite young] and am listening to this music! Click LIKE if you care.

  • Does anyone else find it really irritating that on any videos where the music is a bit older that people feel the need to write their age and expect praise that they are listening to it?

  • This was great :) Just added a bunch of songs to my ipod haha :)

  • The kids at school make fun of me because I listen to this stuff, then again, they are all high, drunk, or pregnant, like all of today's "pop" (code name for crappy) singers.

  • @smithjhon194 You're going in the right direction kid. Just hold steady!

  • @smithjhon194 you think none of theseee artists got high or drunk...? lol

  • we were born in the wrong century people *saggs*

  • No part 3?

  • No DOORS?

  • Was excited to see some leadbelly on the list.

  • Is it bad that I'm 14 and new at least 10 of these songs?

  • @dakthevamp15 Yes it's really bad. You should go get checked out or something. There's definitely something wrong with you. I would recommend listening to more Soulja Boy and Jay-z.

  • Wow the good music!

  • this is great but you completely missed HANK WILLIAMS!!!!!!! and CARL PERKINS and JOHNY CASH....thats a major problem lol

  • When are you uploading the the 2 parts

  • Sir, I truly wish I could shake your hand

  • Woot!

and "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones?? "Like a rolling stone" by Bob Dylan??

  • @MYHEARTMUTMINI10 Watch the updated version. It has all 3 of those songs!

  • Good job thank you

  • I wouldn't say music has gone downhill since the late 50's, that's a bold statement. I would say music started to downhill in the early to mid 1990's. Honestly how can you say the 60's and 70's and 80's are "downhill" from the 50's? I mean come on...

  • See those thumbs up ??? You are in the minority, wise up.

  • haha you're a life saver. My husband's a huge fan (as am I) of oldies music and he told me if I could put together the ultimate driving CD then we'll drive over to Belgium on the weekend for an air show going on. This has some of the best songs to include on it!

  • I LOVE THIS SONGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheKid2022 I only meant "worst" on how the word is used on every aspect of music, movies, worst pres(Bush) etc on the 2000s and even now. I don't think Obama is bad nor great cause if u do research u will see that his so called "change" is an illusion. He has also lied a lot and recently reported was that zero jobs were created and I can go on. Peace.

  • piano early rock and roll 1943 :P

  • Awesome I found the title for some songs I've been searching for, thnx!

  • fourtunate son was from black ops 1968 vietnam

  • The "1947, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"... is not Sinatra's 1947 recording.

  • Epic Ending! Beginning of the new Times!

  • I can't seem to find "Best Songs of the Century" starting with 1970. King689, where is it? I see parts 1 (1900 - 1939) and part 2 (1940 - 1969). Absolutely love your videos!

  • m.youtube.com/watch?gl=US&hl=en&client=mv-google&v=sgMU9aJJf0E

  • why the money have to destroy everything?

  • This is pretty fricken awesome

  • Love the list you put together! Absolutely great choices :) I'm 15 and I hate music being put out today, it's terrible.. THIS is REAL music!!

  • i like 1944's because nirvana covered it

  • @Trubbs549 I'm feeling like a freak :D I'm 15 and think I've born in the wrong decade =(

  • awesome.. i wish music wasnt so sincronized and fixed... back in the day the shit was recorded at the moment .. so if u were to fuck up.. ur screwed this is real music!

  • I'm 14 and I think today's music industry is deteriorating..

  • @wohoo642 I'm 20, and I think you're too trendy and lazy to actually go out of your way to *look* for good music. What a stupid, 'hipster' thing to say. (Oh. And I only said how old *I* was to be ironic. But seriously... What does the fact that you're 14 got to do with anything? Does your child-dom somehow make you more informed about the music industry?)

  • @wohoo642 exactly, every year is getting worse,

  • @wohoo642 evolving

  • @wohoo642 me 2

  • 1952 Night Train - Fuckin' cool

  • Hoedown win. Anyone? Nope of course not, cause who likes classical anymore? (I do)

  • incredible !!

    tks for share this !

  • Every decade has its share of good and bad artists/music. No wonder we can be so cynical.

  • After the 80's music died, theres a few good artists nowadays, but definatley not fuckin Lady gaga, or Justin bieber, or any of those fucking idiots. yes thats all coming from a 17 year old.

  • @RPGking001 I think you're on the right track- except for one thing. This music is insanely good, but the way popular music has evolved, it's hard to get past the basic I -V - vi -IV and I - vi - IV - V progressions, and because of that, I have to give Lady Gaga credit where credit is due. As an AP Music Theory student, I've analyzed her songes, and while some are simple, there are several that are legitimately interesting. Plus she can sing great-I've seen her live-she doesn't miss notes.

  • Hey, i can't find part 3 and 4 :'(

  • i guess elvis pwned the 50s

  • Wow theres a big difference between those years

  • 1967 Respect? Really? Your missing some of the most influential songs like 'Like a Rolling Stone' and 'A Day in the Life'

  • @frankbarthol These are the actual number 1 songs for that year. It's not just someone's opinion

  • Brilliance! X

  • NAT KING COLE FTW :P

  • Led Zeppelin anyone?

  • Honestly- After the mid 40's, this list contains some of the worst possible choices(for me.) I didn't listen to after 50's selections. The only ones I can thumbs up on are Leadbelly, Patti Page, Sinatra, and Chuck Berry.

  • LOVE IT!!

  • 1951, noticed a shift in the music

  • @BeatlesFetish09 no, not really

  • Five people don't know music when they hear it!!

  • Missing: Howlin' Wolf--'Spoonful'; Hank Williams--'Honky Tonkin''; Kingston Trio--'Tom Dooley'; John Coltrane--'My Favourite Things'; Connie Smith--'Once A Day'; Bob Dylan--'The Times They Are A-Changin'; The Rolling Stones--'Satisfaction'; The Doors--'Light My Fire'; and Cream--'Sunshine Of Your Love'.

  • If you were to examine the pop music mainstream as a diagram found in statistics, you will find that the emergence of The Beatles, music hit its peak in 1964, and would slowly go downhill. I am speaking of mainly Lady Gagas, Justin Biebers, Katy Perry, you know who you are.

  • Just like America, our music has gone downhill since the late 1950's.

  • @joeasmythe You haven't heard of the beatles then.

  • @JackOfBlades434 .... WHO ????????

  • @joeasmythe cold war screwed it all up :))

  • @joeasmythe Pipe down, old timer.

  • @joeasmythe Not just music,everything has gone down, celebrities,sports, economy,movies,TV,worst president,values,morals, etc.

  • @joeasmythe wtf...

  • @joeasmythe Yikes!!! Methinks thou art stuck in the past just a WEE bit. Arguably, the 1960s (up to about 1974) was the time of the greatest musical diversity, dynamism and innovation in 20th century music in the "Western Tradition". You had amazing explosions in the fields of folk music, "pop", "experimental" or avant-guarde music, wonderful musicals such as the Sound of Music, Camelot, etc..... the music and arts scene in the 60s and early 70s was WIDE open and tremendously exciting.

  • @joeasmythe No. The 60's and 70's were really good decades for music.

  • @joeasmythe You're either too young to know how stupid the words coming from your fingers are, or too old to care.

  • @OnlyTy91 Back off kid.....................

  • @joeasmythe Okay, okay. You're an adult, like Captain Crunch is a nautical man. If I believed for a second that you were a 'grown up', I'd just make a snarky comment about how I wished you'd get carted off to a nursing home, or someone would strangle you with a catheter tube, but... I'll bet you're probably like, 15, or something.

I'm 20, too. So, yeah. Respect your elder. (For further reference, check 9:38 of this video.)

  • Take the A train is probably my favourite. JNR on Grand Theft Auto 4 :D

  • thats my favorite music.... que hermosa la musica del swing...

  • It's awfully hard to pick one best song for a year, whether its '73, '36, 1909 or last year. Nearly every listener would quibble with some choices, I guess. I quibble more with the earliest ones that the later ones. But whether they're the *best* songs or not they're still very good songs...

  • 10:11 My favorite song from Black OPS

  • @doomfreezzer61 That song's in Black Ops???? When??

  • @gman8744 SOG mission: Hudson: Wood's here.

    Woods: Mason...

Mason: Woods you look like hammerd shit.

    Mason: Good to see yea.

  • man, swing music is most definatly one of the best genres of music out there. It just has so much emotion and character.

  • Good list, but I think "As Time Goes By" should be on here.

  • Why wasn't Jerry Lee Lewis on spot 1957 with "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On"?

  • Damn, I wish I was around in 40's and 50's, then life was easyer, now you have to buy car to catch up with the life.

  • In the mood, indeed!

  • This is definitely a solid list. I mean once you get to the 60's picking a best song of the year is hard there were so many generation defining and influential songs.

  • this shouldn't be considered 1950s music without Johnny Mathis and where is smokey robinson and the miracles???????

  • Good stuff! Thank you for making/posting it!

  • Outstanding compilation!

  • SO WONDERFULLLLLL MUSIC, THANKS

  • OMG!!! Bobby Darin!!! =D

    Hes the best ever!!!

  • In 1969 there should be Elvis Presley with Suspicious Minds or In the Gettho.

  • @ElvisKing35 yes sure those songs are way better than his choice

  • WMG are a stingy pack of pricks aren't they. How could anyone like a company like that? You are helping them by advertising their records and it's not as if you're playing the whole songs. Don't buy their CD's or DVD's . Let the company go down the tube.

  • YEAAAA BABY GET A LITTLE CCR IN THIS VIDEO! good job man!

  • Beatles suck. Go Bob Dylan.

  • the best all my favourite everything.

  • Great job! I start relating about 1966 with Jimi Hendrix! I will look for your list that you referenced moving into the 70's - thanks for sharing!

  • Dear mama - best ever.

  • Thanks for the awesome set! Being born 47yrs after the 40's+ I've had a hard time finding good songs and artists from that genre but now i have a few more to add to my collection. Woot!

  • The first time I heard "where did you sleep last night" I was stunned with chills down my spine.

  • 1965 - Bob Dylan - like a rolling stones
