and I promise you that recruiters never tell their teenage recruits that they will be exposed to more alcoholism, divorce, stress, depression, violence, roughness, testosterone, death, suicide, murder and pain than what they ever saw before they joined the military. We need to start telling these kids the truth before they join the military and ruin their lives. The military is not a breeding ground for good things. I know; Iraq vet with 101st Airborne.

This is not going to be a feel good movie in any sense of the word but it is certainly one we need to see. Ben Browder is more than up to fhe task of carrying this film.

It gave me a hell of a shock to see that scene and Ben is freaky. I wouldn't say that I'm waiting this movie hoping to spend a good moment but I'm sure that his performance gonna be amazing, strong and give another proof that Ben's a great actor.

Very powerful sounding, and the fact that it's Ben Browder makes it even better. He did an amazingly brilliant job in FarScape and I believe he'll do an equally good job here. But I'm not sure if he can top his FarScape performance, though. That'll be a pretty tall order.

If a studio is making the movie, what would the grass roots pledges be used for? And why would you need to raise the entire amount if the pledges are just to help out vets?

Hi, What is best for the film and to maximize the funds for the vets is for the "studio" to only act as a distributor. That means the cost for production is done outside the system. The studio would then pay for advertising. When the studio pays for the making of a film, they hide the profits. Forest Gump made over 300 million domestically, but the studio said it never made enough to pay the writers profit. Bottom line if they do the accounting, profits get burried.

I applaud your determination, but I have to be honest, I am really disappointed in the grass roots decision. In this economy, I just don't see many people wanting to contribute to a movie that may or may not get made, that may or may not get picked up by a studio at some point. You're going to need big corporate sponsors or something to get this made. Fans won't be able to finance something like this. I'm not sure I'd be willing to donate $20 for a movie that might never get made.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. Whether or not the not for profit grass roots idea is good or not I'm still trying to decide. The movie will be made anyway and will have major studio distribution. Also, if money was raised grass roots, it would only be as pledges or held in escrow until the entire amount was raised, otherwise it would be returned. This would just indicate to a studio the potential of the film.

Anyway. The plan is to launch a grass roots funding campaign for the film. Perhaps by constructing a million pixel website. Then, with a donation of let's say 20 dollars, give someone a copy of the script and perhaps a two for to the film when it happens. Once the pixels are filled out it will be the sheet for the film, which we'll offer to the public. All profits will go to the vets. Any comments on this idea?

That's a WONDERFUL idea. Anything to help our vets and to help this predictably powerful film.  An additional "donate what you can" option would also be a good way to snag the poor and broke college generation and still raise some money.

Many people have asked what they can do to make sure this film happens. The best case scenario is that the film is funded outside of the studio system. If President Obama's campaign taught me anything it's to put my trust in people rather then institutions or companies. I propose we do the film as a not-for-profit. That all profits that come from the film are given to vet organizations. If we go this way, and offer it to a studio shot, and fully funded we will be in the best position.

This film should be fantastic. I will always argue that Ben Browder is one of the best modern actors we have who can emote pain and complexity with such ease and believability. I desperately wish he was more well known and would get some major roles in some major films. Hollywood desperately needs some quality and class. Also, having had very dear friends come back from Iraq, I think I can say that this is a film America needs. Please make this film happen.

No. The fate of this movie rests on us. If Obama's election taught me anything it's that one man counts. The reactions to this video, has confirmed that. I only wish I had the personal emails of everyone that has been supporting this to create a movement that not only gets the film made, but makes sure it is distributed in the right way. And please do not portray us as people who go out and kill innocent civilians for the fun of it or out of anger, or whatever. No official green light before. I've been here many times before and pretty much know when one of my films can get made, and when it can't. With more soldiers committing suicide now since coming home from Iraq and Afghanastan, then were killed in Jan, we have the momentum on our side.  If for no other reason then out of guilt.

That's the purpose of a film like this. Only problem is that it's the kind of film hollywood considers a downer. CNN is great, but the emotions are never translated. Vehicles like this do more to send the message then anything else. They may be deaf, but they aren't blind. We'll try anything to get their attention.

Only yesterday USA today and other papers reported more Iraq and Afghanastan vets commited suicide then were killed in action. All we hope this film does is make the goverment set up a better system for them returning from the war then they did with the rat infested facility of Walter Reed. At least the vietnam vets had homes to come home to. This war is sending men back to homes that have been repossessed. Where in the stimulus package do you see the word vet. Nowhere!

I can't really disagree with you on that point. Both parties seem to be AWOL on that issue. If the movie's focus is more in that direction I will be more inclined to see it. Perhaps they should donate a portion of the profits to vets returning with problems.

I agree with the donation part, but it won't mean a pimple on the ass of this stimulus package for america. We're so busy worrying about those who took out bad loans, when they knew they would never qualify, that we are forgetting those who put their lives on the line to protect us. Their hearts are in the right place, but their eyes are nowhere near this ball.

Walter Reed was just a symptom of a larger problem. That might be added to the film, if it isn't too late. Also, something about Servicemember's Civil Relief Act of 2003, and recent updates. A lot of servicemembers and state governments really don't know what is protected in that Act

This was a moving, chilling and disturbing clip. I want to see more of the film. Ben succeeds in conveying the degree of psychological disturbance and a sense of being locked in with his remores and with the memories, disconnected from the world around him which carries on unaware. This looks like a very interesting film. I look forward to seeing more, though it looks like it will be extremely emotional and possibly disturbing it will no doubt be well worth seeing. Ben Browder is the best possible actor for this role, he's well able for it. The replacement music of Jingle Bells threw me, but after I felt shivers crawl up my spine. It was like the rest of the world is celebrating love and peace and all the character had left to give the worst of himself.
