  • fucking hate mickey mouse winnie the pooh FTW

  • Pooh so cute. He's just the type of character I wana walk up to and just hug him and him not mind...maybe confused as to who I am or why im hugging him but not seem to care that much. ^^

  • I remember watching this when I was little, and every single time the movie ended I was insanely disappoint! I always wanted to see more and I loved all the characters. And I still do! c:

  • @majukun

    Then you lack three things.

    1: a heart

    2: a brain

    And 3: a childhood

  • i hate winnie the pooh

  • I remember my favorite part of Winnie the Pooh was the fact that they can't spell anything! Am I the only one who remembers the plaque on Pooh's doorway saying "Mr. Sanders" ?

  • this movie was a video i watched alot as a kid

  • Here in Britain, this American take on a series that almost defines our national eccentricity is quite controversial, but, as with Robin Hood, I feel these early shorts are actually quite faithful, despite the accents. (The books are amazing though.)

  • @kisbie And here I thought it was all tea and crumpets and God Save the Queen and Quidditch... which I'm sorry sounds like an STD!

What's that, I'm a wanker? Fair enough, I'm moving on.

I hope you're a good sport because, I'm just kidding!

Seriously though, I need to see a doctor about my Hogwarts!!!

That's the last joke, I promise!

  • This movie is so freaking funny! Just like the books! When I was younger , I did not appreciate the humor; now I do. Gosh so funny.

  • never was a huge pooh fan, but I do like him more than Mickey (at least Mickey after his personality was split between himself, Pluto, Donald and Goofy). I find it interesting how each character in the pooh series isn't a character as much as they are just a clear cut psychological disorder.

  • @krazyzark Lol someone needs to get Eeyore some Zoloft, stat!!

  • @krazyzark

Ya, Pooh has occupational defiant disorder and the rabbit has sibling rivalry disorder.

    lol at "clearcut".

  • I agree! Winnie the pooh is one of those films that u can just relax an enjoy. I feel like that when I play kingdom hearts too. If I want to take a break from the chaos of the game I just visit poohs world and it's all good:)

  • My entire childhood in a nutshell. <3

  • One of my earliest memories is playing with a Winnie-The-Pooh mobile I had as a baby. I still have it, hanging from the light-shade in my bedroom. I'm 12 and 3/4 years old.

  • I cried at the ending T_T

  • im not ashamed to say i had this on vhs

  • Oh, and Pooh Bear was Christopher Robin's stuffed animal. The actual Chrsitopher Robin was VERY attached to his bear (: and Winnie the Pooh was actually his second name I think. Like the kid renamed the stuffed bear.

  • @destinyrose1313 Actually, Winnie the Pooh's original name was 'Edward', but was changed after Christopher Robin and his father went to the London Zoo to see a bear named 'Winnipeg', and a swan named 'Pooh' (I can guess why it's called that!).

  • @CynthiaShirona149 Ah yeah. Edward. As I said before, I know Winnie the Pooh wasn't the bear's original name. I said he changed it. I know the story, because I've looked it all up before :D. I also know "the Pooh" was added onto "Winnie' because "Winnie" is a girls name. :D

  • I lovee Pooh Bear x3 You know, do a degree, this story holds truth. The book is the written version of tales that the author used to tell his son, who is Christopher Robin (I don't think that's his ACTUAL name, but I do believe his first name was Christopher at least). Anyway, they do a great job of sticking to the book as well! It's fantastic!

  • All the animals in the Hundred Acre Wood are in Christopher's imagination?

  • Sterling Holloway is the shit!!!

    Just saying, guys.

  • @billyhammet Sterling Holloway = The Jim Cummings of the 60s

  • I admit, whether the book or the film, I always cry at the end of Winnie the Pooh. Even this review has me bawling.

  • I still like watching this movie it brings me back to when I was a little kid

  • I HATE Winnie the Pooh he freakin annoys me. i hate his voice hate his stupid shirt, has his stupid niceness hate his damn mistakes hate hate HATE HIM. Always whining about freaking honey omfg LIVE NEAR THE FREAKIN' BEES THEN GOD! YOU GREEDY BASTARD! UGH. screw him winnie is probably a play off of Whiny Whiny the Pooh the whiniest freakin beer around.

  • @VigilanteKid1

    ........go to hell.

  • I would love to know how Doug feels about the 2011 Pooh movie, I absolutely adired it, but, haven't seen this old one in a very long time. I think though from seeing this review, they captured everything that makes this movie so great. :)

  • @NearOasisFan you can find it online, as part of Disneycember :D

  • My six year old sister doesn't like Winnie the Pooh...seriously, what is WRONG with her!?

  • This was my 2nd favourite disney movie as a kid

  • I love Winnie the Pooh so much. But it's hard for me to watch the movie's today, because it makes me miss my childhood so much that it hurts.

  • Help me, I'm stuck in Disneycember and can't find the rest of youtube! I'm low on food and water.. please help?

  • I used to wonder why there were four adventures of Winnie the Pooh and there were only three of them together in the Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh. They never showed a Day for Eeyore. But I guess there was no room for it in the movies' plotline. Eeyore was almost always too gloomy anyway. Overall, I did used to love to watch this movie. I agree with Doug that it was pure innocence.

  • Winnie the Pooh is the most innocent thing from my childhood that the original Pooh voice, the late Sterling Holloway is one of my favorite late voice actors of all time.

  • I gotta agree with Doug on this one. Pooh isn't looked at as a great story, but for great character. It's a simple movie and an enjoyable one at that.

  • No disrespect to a disney classic, but it needs to be said... the books by A. A. Milne were better by a LONG shot.

  • I didn't know Bagheera narrated this story.

  • @Tortosol And Kaa is Pooh

  • i love winnie the pooh and i wish disney would replay the old cartoon series they had when i was young

  • Pooh: C'mon, Eeyore! Let's go play

Eeyore: I don't feel like it.

Pooh: Why are you always in such a bad mood?

Eeyore: I have a nail in my anus.

    Pooh: Oh.

  • My friends tell me I sound like Eeyore. Is that a good thing?

  • 2:13 "really enjoyable" and it's a kid trying to drive a nail into a donkey's ass =P

  • Is it worrying that Eeyore was my favorite as a kid? Thought so...

  • i think winnie the pooh is one of the cutest things ever created, i'm a 21 guy and i can say that without fear lol. i mean seriously that bear is dead cute, from his personality to just the way he looks, winnie is awesome.

  • I'm 23 and I still find joy in Winnie the Pooh. And no matter how old you are, you know you do, too. Don't you dare deny it.

    We love you, Pooh! <3

  • THEY ARE NOT IMAGINARY!!!! 2:43

  • Was always a fan of Tigger maybe its the fact that my favorite animal are tigers

  • 2:52, is it just me but is that tree the same one that Mowgli stands on somewhere in The Jungle Book? I remember seeing that round part of it. You can see Mowgli step over it in Nostalgia Critic's review of The Jungle Book.

I had a Disney sing-along video that played the Heffalumps and Woozles song. I heard it a lot before I watched this movie.

  • BOOM CHILDHOOD COMPLEATE

  • I love this film! such fine memories of watching old Disney movies! My mother actually has a coffee cup with Pooh on it and she named a dog Pooh Bear. P.S. Why does Walt Disney like to put Elephants in their films?! ........................ELEPHANT! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • Man, I watched this again recently, and all throughout, I was just laughing and chuckling in joy at this very amusing, whimsical and childlike world and the enjoyable characters. Quite frankly, I agree with Doug's review. There is definitely this atmosphere to this and other works involving Pooh. The ending is definitely great as well, as it touches upon the issues of growing up and holding on to childhood. Man, I loved anything Winnie The Pooh as a kid, and I love it now. Especially Tigger.

  • @CaptainRaccoonWhitly my mistake I meant to say bad, and honestly I thought it was a remake since it did have different art and songs, and what do you mean no changes it was compleatly f-ing different

  • Kaa from Jungle Book and Winnie The Pooh sound the same. :D

  • @TheNostalgiaKnight That's because they were played by the same actor, Sterling Holloway.

  • @BeezaarProductions That's FUCKING AWESOME.

  • @TheNostalgiaKnight I know! He also did Mr Stork in Dumbo, Cheshire Cat in Alice in wonderland, Adult Flower in Bambi, Roqefort the mouse in the Aristocats, etc.

  • @TheNostalgiaKnight Yup...thts because they are indeed both voiced by the magic that is Sterling Holloway. I remember thinking exactly the same about the voices of Pooh and Kaa when I was small and also for the cheshire cat (also voiced by the same person). I'm sure the guy must have done loads of disney films but those are the three ones that sprung to my mind at the time.

  • God the remake was add, I couldn't even watch it all the way through

  • @Haseotoramaki99 1. It's a sequel, not a remake. 2. It was add? I was under the impression it was subtract. 3. I liked the sequel far more than the original, it popped out more and felt inspired. This one's good too, but it doesn't really wow me and is actually a re-release of three shorts with no changes.

  • Now that I see this, Winne the Pooh is actually kind of sad. It's playing with your imaginary friends, and when you grow up you see a boy that's going to grow up and have that chance of forgetting them.

    God, that's sad ;-;

  • I was a Winne the Pooh addict as a child!! So much so, that my grandmother had to band me from watching it, because I was more into it than my schoolwork!

  • When my sister and I were kids, we watched The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh over and over again. We only ever saw "A Blustery Day" out of the lot from the late 60s, and although I liked it less than the newer stuff, I still enjoyed it.

  • Perhaps the most faithful of Disney's literary adaptations, this cute, charming collection of episodes captures the spirit of A.A. Milne's classic stories

  • @3brerfox Thanks; I appreciate it.

  • There's a law saying you can't hate Winnie the Pooh? *gulps* How long's the sentence? I've got dinner in the oven

  • Am I the only person who prefers Sterling Holloway and Paul Winchell's versions of Pooh and Tigger over Jim Cummings? Jim is great, but the originals had such a raw, pleasant quality to them. Jim's Pooh sounds too slick and his Tigger sounds like he's strainging his voice. Again, Cummings is pretty good, but I think the original tracks win out. That's part of the reason why I like this one over the 2011 film.

  • @3brerfox >> Well......they passed away, so yea, Jim Cummings is the best we can have because the originals aren't around now. In fact, Cummings didn't take over Tigger's role until Winchell retired (he passed away a year or two later), so Winchell had plenty respect from others. But honestly, could you imagine a Pooh cartoon or movie without Tigger?? Cummings does his best to live up to what Holloway and Winchell created, and for the most part, he succeeds where others probably couldn't.

  • People, stop bawing over Doug saying that Pooh Bear is a bit of a more interesting character than Mickey. Get over it.

This is definitely my favourite of every Disney movie. I just have this strange fondness for Pooh and friends, and even at the non-sad parts of this movie I find myself tearing up, only because I get such a rush of pure nostalgia and essence of childhood. This is a fantastic movie, and it's cool to hear that Doug approves of it.

  • @MultiMaige Have you read the actual stories for Winnie the Pooh? I love it an entire set of childrens stories based on the games the author's child played with his stuffed animals.

  • The "Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh" was composed of all three of the original theatricals-

All titles, of course, starting with these four words-"Winnie the Pooh and"

"The Honey Tree", February 4, 1966

"The Blustery Day", December 20, 1968

"Winnie the Pooh & Tigger, Too", 1974

  • Oh my god, Bagheera is narrating the story!

  • this right here sums up my childhood.

thanks pooh <3 for everything :D

  • I liked Winnie when I was little, and everyone said it was for babies.

So when I grew up, I said Winnie the Pooh was for babies and everyone called me stupid. :|

...On a side note, I think it'd be good for Nostalgia Critic to do an Old vs New of this film (or that other one where they went on the big adventure and ended up in a crystal cave at some point; the name escapes me) with the one that came out this past year.

  • @KnadowtheHechidna "Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search For Christopher Robin"

  • 1:38 to 2:00. Okay this submation doug gives for this film, is pretty much the reason why I personally enjoy my little pony friendship is magic. Dont get me wrong MLP is nowhere near the likeability of pooh, but still.

  • you know the heffalumps and woozle should have been in the nostalgic mind fucks

  • Oh my God, I used to watch this movie everytime I went to connecicut to visit family, sniff memories

  • I'd like to see a comparison of this video and the new movie that just came out.

  • fucking efalumps and woosles scared me SO SO SO SO bad as a kid. also I watched it a bit ago for the first time in probably 7 years and it made me CRY! :(

  • Everytime the movie comes to the part where Christopher Robin and Pooh are talking and Christopher says

"And Pooh, promise you won't forget about me? Ever?"

    "Oh I won't, Christopher. I promise."

    I always fall apart. Sniff...

  • 'The Many Adventures Of Winnie the Pooh' - Treating the fourth wall like a crash-test dummy.

  • I have to say, I've always loved Winnie the pooh, and I still do. The new ones great and the tunes are nice. It's a good movie for kids and anyone who enjoys Disney. I don't like mickey mouse though, the make him so forgettable because of the tv show.

  • Pooh and all his friends are tied for my 14th fave Disney characters. Well, except for Tigger, he is all the way up at my 4th favorite Disney character, just behind #3 Cheshire Cat, #2 Genie, and #1 Stitch.

  • I love Winnie the Pooh! He's one of my childhood friends

  • I dunno...I don't think Winnie the Pooh has aged all that well as a Disney icon, at least from my personal experience. The most I've seen of Pooh as of late is that toddlers series, and it didn't help that the advertising of the 2011 Pooh movie treated it like a toddler's movie. But I do like the 1977 movie at times. The Heffalumps and Woozles is definitely my Pink Elephant, having watched this first, and not Dumbo. What is it with Disney and acid-induced Elephants?

  • Everybody hates Winnie the Pooh? How dare these crackheads, Winnie the Pooh is the most mermorable disney characters ever! But I did enjoy the movie and it has cute animals that gives us so memorable and loving more! Even maybe that Doug will review "Winnie the Pooh" version of 2011 and its the most best underrated movie ever! I don't know? But will see! ( :

  • Who doesn't like Winnie the Pooh? Seriously :D

  • @xRaineDropsx My friend doesn"t like Winnie the Pooh. I almost shunned her.

  • I think Mickey is a good character. It's just Disney putting him lower and lower. The kiddie stuff makes Mickey look bad. I don't remember much about him either, mainly because when I was born, Mickey wasn't too out there. Sure, he had a cartoon (House Of Mouse) but he wasn't really big in the show. Winnie The Pooh, hell, I can remember waking up at 6 a.m., turning on the TV, and watching it. It was just... well, Winnie The Pooh. But it was good.

  • @TheFabricOfTime I liked Mickey before then Kingdom Hearts made me a Mickey fan. He was badass in that game.

  • @TheFabricOfTime Yepp! i'm there with you on that one! lol

  • To me, this IS one of the great DIsney Classics! I'm so happy Doug gave it such a positive review! The ending is seriously one of the best in film. It tugs on the heartstrings so much!

  • You say people don't like Winnie the Pooh: I have a six-month-old brother who is scared to tears of a talking Winnie the Pooh toy. He loves cuddling it and playing with it, but as soon as you play its voice, he cries.

  • Ok, here's something to think about: the Critic is right here before us talking about Winnie the Pooh, The Blustery Day included no less, and he even DOES mention the Heffalumps and Woozles song as being trippy! Now tell me, why the hell couldn't he take at least ten seconds to explain why he didn't add that as one of his top 11 mindf*cks?!

  • @UniversalLizard Maybe he didn't have any room to put it on. I'm actually suprised he didn't use it as a honorable mention.

  • @UniversalLizard He probably didn't think it was that trippy

  • I've never liked mickey, he was so...standard, not that there's anything wrong with that, since he's from a really early cartoon generation.

But...i don't know, he doesn't have a consistent personality, sometimes, he can be grumpy, sometimes he can be naive, sometimes he's the voice of reason, and one time he's even was a homophobic, okay he's happy but that's it, that's the only trait of personality that is consistent in him, his personality depends of the episode or movie he is in.

  • I don't think people give Mickey Mouse enough credit. Mickey would fall in love, get in fist fights, contemplate suicide, and out wit those physically stronger than him. He's a great character, and I suggest that people who wonder what the appeal of Mickey Mouse is should check out Epic Mickey.

  • @hall9111 I think he's less liked than Pooh because of his voice, which can get annoying at times, his happy go lucky, naive personality, he's just too nice and rarely shows any other emotion. Also his constantly saying the phrase "hu-huh!" but I digress, every cartoon character has some flaws.

  • @hall9111 Yah, I think peoples image of Mickey Mouse is basically the mickey mouse clubhouse image, where.. Yeah he is pretty bland, but Epic Mickey is a really great example of how great a character he is

  • @hall9111 Mickey's actually been through a lot more grief than Disney likes to let on! Not only has he lost BOTH his parents (Walt and Lillian Disney), but ever since Walt died, he's lived with this HUGE responsibility of following in his footsteps! So let's do the math: Kid-at-heart + parents' deaths + leadership for Disney Company + leadership for cartoon friends = *EXPLOSION*

  • @hall9111 They do that because the plot demands it, there's no consistency about the character, his personality depends of the history on the episode or comics.

Hell there's one comic strip which he was a homophobic (Seriously, go google it.)

  • @tricksterhuaun You could say the same thing about Batman. There have been many different versions of him over the years with completely different personalities. And I think the homophobia comic was just a product of its time, just like the early comics where Batman used a gun.

  • @hall9111 I get what you say about Mickey Mouse being a good character....but how the hell does getting into fist fight and contemplating suicide make him a good character??? 0_o

  • @Nanchee76 Those actions demand versitility, something that underdeveloped characters are incapable of. They show that he is as emotionally vulnerable as us, but he will still stand up for himself if needed.

  • @hall9111 That's cool. Just wanted an explanation. Thanks.

  • @hall9111 Whoa whoa whoa since when did the Mouse contemplate suicide???

  • @CyberChick2011 When Minnie dumped him in an early Floyd Gottfredson comic. Just google "Mickey Mouse suicide," and you'll find it.

  • @hall9111 WOW....

  • I see the Mickey-Pooh conundrum as this: It boils down to intelligence. Mickey's cheerful, all right, but also pretty clever. When was the last time you trusted a smiling smart person? Pooh, on the other hand, isn't very bright. A bear of very little brain. He has no capacity to dislike. It's for the same reason why we like seeing children smile because there's no subtext to their emotions. Mickey's grins often seem smarmy while Pooh's smiles evoke empathy.

  • i used to have the toys of eyore and rabbit

  • Winnie the Pooh was one of the first things I was introduced to, and I still love him and all the other characters today. I have all the films like this one, Search for Christopher Robin, Tigger Movie, Piglet's Big Movie, Heffalump movie and the latest one that came out last summer.

Was anyone else super stoked to watch them all on the big screen again? I sure was :)

  • @bart11114 Someone's been watching Animation Lookback with Mat Brunet :)

  • I loved Winnie the Pooh back then, I love him now. I love his friends, I love his world, I love his legacy. The first cartoon series, the Tigger Movie, the most recent movie, even the CGI cartoon where some new kid and her puppy replaced Christopher Robin (shocking that I enjoy that, yes, but so did Sora in Kingdom Hearts, so I've no qualms) As long as these chaaracters can always be themselves, the whole world could end here and now, and I'd be at peace. Thank you, Doug, for loving them too.

  • So the next one after that would be The Rescuers, then The Fox and The Hound. Then The Black Cauldron The Great Mouse Detective Oliver and Company The Little Mermaid The Rescuers Down Under Beauty and The Beast Aladdin The Lion King Pocahontas The Hunchback of Notre Dame Hercules Mulan Tarzan The Emperor's New Groove and that's all I'm at least looking forward to, except for The Princess and The Frog which doesn't come until much after The Emperor's New Groove.
  • I can't wait until he reviews Mulan.

  • @goirkens I want to see what he thinks of Pocahontas; I know the Nostalgia Chick already covered it, so it'll be interesting to see what Doug thinks about it.

  • quick question, how did you get this video? I cant find it in the site.

  • @SSBBMN64 Blip. I found out a long time ago that all of Doug's videos go there first.

  • The main reason I think Mickey Mouse is deemed dispicable or uninteresting is because there's a lot more sophistication to his character than even Disney likes to let on.

  • @365ral Why is that a bad thing?

  • @marmik961 Yeah. The media blows Mickey's image WAY out of proportion. He's a lot more than just an always-happy, always corny, Dora knock-off that he's portrayed as today.

  • @365ral Yeah he's way more to him then that he's not just a character he's an Icon a symbol of all things Disney. And another thing isn't hating Mickey against one of the ten comandments? Thou shall love Mickey Mouse!

  • @marmik961 Well even MORE than that, he's Walt Disney's animated son. Damn you, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse!

  • @365ral That is a problem People need to see his other shows and movies it shows him as a fully developed character he makes mistakes learns from them and everything.

  • Did you know that each character is based off of a mental disorder.

Rabbit is always trying to make things orderly = OCD

Piglet gets paranoid and is afraid of everything = Schizophrenia

tigger can't sit still = ADD

Eyor is slow, unmotivated, and in a downtrodden mood = depression

    i can go on.

  • @MadameTamma What about Kanga and Roo?

  • Agreed 100% as a kid though i wasn't really into Winnie the Pooh but I can why he is so lovable
