I have respect for most soldiers, It's the ones who go around who flaunt that they deserve recognition for being in the army that I don't like. This isn't one of them, this one shows a dedicated soldier and his daughter who he has to sacrifice to serve his country. This is the type of soldier I respect, one who doesn't want recognition but rather does his duty to protect the ones he loves.

My cousin actually ran up to her dad, my uncle, while the commander was giving out duties of formation. She grabbed his hand and didn't want my uncle to go. The commander saw it but ignored it, but he knew how she felt.
I am 47 years old that picture took me back to a day in 1969 when I didn't want to let my Daddy go to war. God it is over 40 years and that memory still lingers of Dad leaving for 'Nam. It is a scary thing to be a child and know your Daddy may never come home. Dad came home as safe and sound as he could from that war. So from this Daddy's girl to a young Daddy's Girl God bless you and Yours. I was lucky I had my Daddy until 1999. I hope and Pray she has her Daddy for another 50 or 60 years.
despite what you guys are saying this soldier made a decision just like all the other soldiers in this pic. his daughter knew he was going away so she wanted more time with him before he is sent off. its a decision that civilians make to become soldiers. if you do not want to become a soldier its your decision,(like mine) but dont be saying all kinds of shit about 9/11 or the oil and USA bullying the world no one wants to here either side and by the end of the day nothing will change minds

They have their own views on religion, politics and freedom. Do you think that all people in the Air Force are just Pilots? Can't you see that there is a time for goodbyes and a time to work? What is so hard to understand about the fact that you must do you job no matter the personal sacrifice? I'll save you the trouble of reciting the whole thing, but we take an oath to follow the orders of our superiors. That includes following rules and regulations. Did you check FM 3-21.5?

If his commanding officer allowed his little to girl to stand with him, what is the problem! he has took anoath to follow orders too, and he was allowed to have his girl present....no matter what, family comes first. @Amallard143 For what it's worth in your time of grief, my heart goes out to you. He is with God right now and he will always be watching over you and your children. He walks with many heroes this day as one of them. I'll send a message to my Dad up there and have him look out for Rhett. My father wasn't killed in combat, but he too was a soldier who was wounded in combat. We lost him last year to heart failure. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
