  • this is my new favorite song!

  • wow they rocked it in 1885... and again in 1985 lol

  • wow, i just forgotten how cool this song is. thanks for the memories

  • makes me wanna "stretch" stretch ;)

  • whenever I hear this song it makes me think of Texas Chainsaw with Dennis Hopper taking a chainsaw out for a test with this tune blasting in the background ....lol.....

  • @none02910 Damn I was just getting ready to say the same thing. Great song

  • centralia,pa...times beach,mo...rember made in usa chris penn, lori singer made in 1987 this was the theme song to that film

  • theme song to most peoples life even if they don't it

  • I remember 1885 like yesterday..music felt like the 1980's..go figure..history does repeat itself tho.

  • @TheMeister31 lol 1885 I remember it also, no just playing, that made me smile though

  • I loved this song in the eighties and it still rocks like soul rolls.

  • hell ya life is hard

  • So cool !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • As I remember.... this song came out on a 45 and the flip side was "shades" What was so genius about that combination is that on one side, the future is so BRIGHT that you gotta wear shades, ... but flip the 45 over and then you are reminded that life is hard. (and certainly not bright) Pure Genius.

  • Nice to see this classic up for all who weren't around in 1885. Its a pity the video is squished up and a bit dark and grainy. It makes it hard to appreciate just how good the original camera work magic really is.

  • Yup...Music from 1885 was pretty rockin.

  • ya..i still have my GEE-TAR and 6 shooter from then!!!LOL

  • @athwbitt Dude, 1885? You're old LOL!

  • this song was a classic when it was used in Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 when Dennis Hopper was getting the feel for the chainsaw he just bought and what was going to come much later on for Leatherface & Drayton Sawyer.............

  • My mom heard "The Future's So Bright..." on the radio and got me this tape 22 years ago. I was only 9 years old and in third grade, and this tape got CONSTANT play. I still have it (also have the CD, which I got years later), and it's still in decent condition.

I also agree that they should've made a video for "Facts About Cats", although the whole CD is awesome.

  • the only fact about a cat i know is that your cat is dead

  • Goes to show how much you know...I never owned a cat! :)

  • Id love to see a video or live performance of 'Cats and Hairstyles and Attitudes. I was a freshman in college when this was released and I still love this CD.

  • There has to be a clip of Timbuk 3's performance of "Hairstyles and Attitudes" from SNL around here somewhere.

Like I said before, my mom got me hip to this band, purely by chance. When it came to this song, she thought the verse about Big Mack's heart attack was a bit morbid. :)

  • this song is so simple i heard it on my texas chainsaw massacre vinyl soundtrack i had when i was a kid boy this song reminds me of my youth the guitar riff is so simple but amazing

  • Lick my plate . . . :p

Awesome song from an awesome movie!

  • Is there a version of 'standard white jezus' anywhere on youtube? That is also a GREAT song.

  • Agreed! .. I just came on here lookin' for that one.

  • I was born the illegitimate son of a seventeen year old latent schizophrenic, the daughter of an alcoholic world war two veteran who managed to earn three bronze stars in spite of his despising the military. I never knew my father who was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne in the early sixties. I deserted the army after basic training and have driven a yellow cab for eleven years. Yeah, life is hard.

  • Damn... Erm, why did you join the Army in the first place then?

  • Barb and Pat were awesome together! Music was brilliant!

  • Weren't they married?

  • Yes they are married

  • were married.

  • Loved this duo. They had some cool songs other than the gotta wear shades song.

  • This was a powerful album with a distinctive sound - dark and dangerous, but with a sweet side between the couple. I loved it a lot.

  • When I was a radio dj in St. Louis, I got to hang out with Timbuk 3 two times when they came to town. GREAT folks, really cool and down to earth. Got some great photos with them, and cherish my old vhs of their videos, wish it was on DVD!

  • Bad ass video and album had it since it came out AKA sodbuster

  • I've seen the videos for Hairstyles and Attitudes....

And National Holiday. Not missing much. I got into this song when it was used for Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2... right when Denis Hopper goes into the chainsaw shop... nice

  • i wanna know why hairstyles ans attitudes isn't on you tube? it was played in regular rotation way more than this song ever was.

  • I was in college when this album was released album. They are great musicians and their lyrics are brilliant.

Did they ever do a video for "Hairstyles and Attitudes" or Facts about Cats?

  • I wish someone could post their video for that great song, "Easy," from their second LP.

  • Love this group. This was a mantra to sing to each other when things got difficult. Thanks TB3.
