vanek had his best years when drury and briere were here. Every other's team checking line went up against the briere line, and drury's line went up against other team's best line. So roy, vanek, and afinogenov were basically one of the sickest 3rd lines u could have. Once those guys were gone and vanek became "the man", he started slipping. He's still a great player no doubt but for that much money he should be putting up numbers like he had earlier.

2003 draft was the best NHL draft ever. Players like: Fleury, Staal, Horton, Zherdev, Vanek, Michalek, Phaneuf, Suter, Coburn, A. Kostitsyn, Carter, Richards, Getzlaf, Perry, Brown, Bernier, Parise, Fehr, Burns, Kesler. Like will there ever be a draft with that many future NHL players?

3rd for goals how? In franchise history? That doesn't mean a thing. He keeps trying to make plays that aren't there, and when he does that, he gives the puck away, and on more than one occasion, those turnovers turned into goals for the other team. Yeah, he can be an electrifying forward at times, but recently he's been worth more to the other team than to the Sabres, so I stand by what I said: the Sabres should trade Afinagenov.

This video was suggested for me today. Watched him score #21 and #22 last night in HSBC Arena. Nice to have the Thomas Vanek we were promised on this draft day back. We had him 2 years ago and now he's back. Amazing player on and off the ice. Can't say enough great things about him.

Vanek is really coming into his own this year. Lindy had him work on his two-way play. He's killing penalties (even has two shorties) and backchecks as well as anyone. Oh, and has a few goals ... 22 in 29 games to lead the NHL. Not to shabby. Keep it going Thomas!

Vanek has played 245 NHL games. He has posted 104 goals and 92 assists. 196 points in 245 career games. Only missed ONE game in his three seasons. You need to learn more about hockey before calling someone a bust. You want a bust, Alexandre Daigle.
