  • if she had vocal training like mariah she would have been able to go higher .she is a 4 octaves singer ,with vocal training her whistle notes would have been mighty powerful due to her being a soprano but then again mariah had her mother who is a vocal coach and ex-opera singer , christina just use to listen to other singers sing and did her thing which made her a natural and raw singer but sometimes too raw NOT good .MC didn't invented the whistle may singers before her had so she can't own it

  • for the people who say she cant/doesnt go that high anymore just whatvha this!

/watch?v=zBQzX2FwegE copy and past this to the adress bar above after youtube(dot)com

  • @Igtima There were some whistles though..

  • @Kaiuchka the one at 0:57 is probably the only whistle. The other ones were falsetto. u can tell because its so airy and "dull". the one at 0:57 wasn't as airy, and had a distinct sharp and full sound.

  • 1:00-1:09 Those are whistle for the name of God, not high falsetto notes the same with the performance of What a Girl Wants in Stripped Tour. If you can't tell the difference between falsetto and superhead voice, then shut up.

  • Christina Aguilera is using a falsetto to force the whistle register out.

  • not close to Mariah, but the closest, higher than jojo,

and mariah is one of the only singers to have this range

  • Comment removed

  • JoJo was also using head voice just like Xtina. It's not uncommon for women to hit E6 in head voice as even I can do it and Im a guy. Whistle register is a somewhat different coordination.

  • @wolfy123xx Well Women generally do not utilize Falsetto (not saying they are completely incapable but rather its very rare as the issue is up for debate) however the actual tone of these notes sound more along the line of head voice.

  • love it

  • this is so annoying after a while :o

  • Most of them are a high G6

  • Mariah Carey can sing higher than her

  • My ears!!! but this is soooo amazing! The Christina Aguilera's voice is FANTASTIC oh yes!

  • ill b brutally honest. her ntoes from what a girl wants are not whistle, but falsetto, but some of them r actually whistle compare them... ull see the difference in how she does it...

  • @wolfy123xx HAHAHAHA ! u make me laugh :)

  • umm umm her whistles don't sound as good as mariah's at all they barely sound like whistles to me!...they almost ain't they sound like high notes.

  • @stevesg92

She is one of the best ! and more versatile ok Thanks ! ;)

  • goosebumps! :)

  • Yes this is def falsetto..Mariah is the best at the whistle register

  • Christina aguilera DAMN YOU ARE THE BEST

  • @09neftali just because she can do that doesn't make her " the best"..

  • just because itdoesnt sounds like mariahs doesnt mean its not whistle!

  • @15gianna The timbre for whistle notes are all the same - these are notes in falsetto.

  • @rekupp IT'S ALL FAKE!!!!! CHRISTINA'S USING FALSETTO............... NO ONE CAN REALLY BEAT THE WAY MARIAH CAREY WHISTLES... MARIAH USES HEAD TONE. BEAT THAT!!!!!!!

  • @michellequintia Lol. Mariah uses the whistle register to use whistle notes. Falsetto and head voice are the same except falsetto is the term for a males high notes. The one at 0:58 is a real whistle note. Half of Mariahs notes arent really whistles but head voice which is completely different. Christina uses head voice to reach whistle range and has used whistle voice. Mariahs range is overrated and fake.

  • @rekupp I believe the note at 0:59 is a real whistle note. Im not very good at picking out which notes are whistle and not minus the amount of strain on an artists face. If they strain alot to bring out a whistle its generally head voice or high head voice. The note at 0:59 looks as if it comes very naturally to her and she hit it right on rather than drag it out like her others.

  • @MrFutureseer 0:59 is whistle tone. This is one of the few times she has done it. It is full, rounded, and has the whistle-timbre. All the other notes here are falsetto - you can easily tell by the volume. There is little to not volume control with falsetto.

  • @rekupp thank you for explaining that.

  • she never sings in whistle, she just can't do it. she imitates it in a head voice

  • Hello

    falsetto (E5) - Head Voice (E6) - Whistle Register (G6)

  • @PeeWeestle where exactly is the head voice?

  • There were maybe 2 genuine whistle tones in this video, the rest were falsetto or notes produced in head voice (the top of the modal register).

  • Where's the head voice?? Where's the whistle notes? I didn'l listen, I just listened falsettos...

  • Mariah careys whistle note is better then Christinas...although Christinas is good its all over the place,,Mariahs sounds like a melodyy its beautiful

  • Christina Aguilera is the VOICE OF AMERICA, VOICE OF THE GENERATION, VOICE DE DECADE

  • @JosueElite i think mariah's whistle is much more stable and smooth than christina.

but if christina can reach the whistle register, she can make it more powerful.

    i love christina!

  • Very few of these notes are actually whistles, but they ARE done in a healthy manner (because it is just about impossible to produce notes this high without at least SOMEWHAT good technique in the head register). She can sing pretty much without strain until an F6, but would have to learn what the whistle register IS to begin using it.

  • most of them are whistle register ones :') only one or two aren't, I fuxking LOVE xtina, <3<3<3!!

  • what's the song at 1:18?

  • @MisterKiwiAndApple what a girl wants

  • @MisterKiwiAndApple what a girl wants.

  • Those notes are just strained flat screams. There's no "whistle" about them. If you wanna listen to some REAL whistle notes, listen to Mariah Carey, Yma Sumac or Minnie Riperton.

  • Yes, they are high head tones, its kinda like screaming, notice how she dont do it anymore. Mariah uses whistle register which is a different placement physically which is why she can speak in it and go an entire octave higher than christina. Christina didnt have vocal training which is why she has bad technique (yells high chest notes and head tones) but manages to sound good.

  • @radiorecord1 Yeah you're 100% right! That's also why she has nodules. Someone can sound great but without perfect and healthy technique it means nothing! The whistle register is also potentially dangeous if used way too often.

  • @apnixlover900 this is not true, i use my whistle register regularely after warm up and i have no problems anymore, personaly i believe Mariah lost her voice because 1. of emotional stress and 2. she doesn;t rest her voice ever. each year she is with a new album. I had in the past a small polyp, that created from bad singing technique and abuse of my voice, and i rest my voice for whole 2 years and now my voice is better than ever! I think she needs to rest too.

  • @charisaob Well Mariah has had Nodules from a very young age. The difference between Mariahs voice and others is that her voice naturally enters the whistle range (even at her current age if she is surprised or screams her voice quickly enters whistle range like a child lol). Whistle notes arent unhealthy unless used in excess and she uses hers quite often. She may never lose the nodules she developed when young and her voice may never be as high as it used to be.

  • @radiorecord1 she did it singing the aretha song last year with the other girls.. not AS high, but still the same type of not.... sounds painfull to me.

  • @radiorecord1most of them there are actually whistle , if you listen to her spanish album which consist of Head Voice Register: (G5 - D6) Whistle Register: (Eb6 - F6). most song like Falzas Esperanzas she hits a F6..she can tap into the whistle register

  • 1:08 what song is that?

  • what is the song in 0:39 ?

  • The maker of this video needs to lean how to distinguish falsetto, head voice, and whistle register notes.

  • @rekupp agree!

  • yes,, i agree,, mariah's whistle was much more higher than xtina,,, but,, that's because mariah's a mixed of black,,, the soulfulness is being inherit to her,,,

I love xtina so much,,and i think,, after hearing the "bionic" album,,, i'd say that she looses her "highest", "higher" falsettos!!!

    that's my opinion!!

  • Comment removed

  • shes gonna lose her voice from oversinging

  • Christina doing something these "nowadays vocalist" can only dream of doing.

  • awesome! chris, you never stop impressing me

  • nice one!

chistina aguilera is a very very good singer!

  • This isn't headvoice. It's whistle register. Just because they don't sound like Mariah Carey's doesn't mean it's not a whistle register. Not everyone's sound the same. JoJo's on Too Little Too Late sounded different as well

  • @symoneraven65

Nope, sound of whistle register is the same. Just some people (like Mariah) make whistle notes airy. Christina sing typical for whistle register notes in super head voice. She just one time hit C#7 and peak D7 in exclamation in whistle register. Jojo sing high part from 'To little too late' in super head voice like Christina (there's only Eb6, but Christina can even Bb6 in head voice)

  • It's headvoice, but, really, IDC. Still fantastic <3

  • this is not whistle register its called high head voice falsetto

  • Christina is magnificent, amazing

  • she does only one note.. in the same way.. same tune..Come on!!

mariah does way much more whistles in way much more ways :P

  • The whistle register: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

  • da 1st one wuz beautiful

  • i wonder what year nd song dat is

  • THE BEST singer in the world.

  • @zblamm2121 Haters always gotta hate. Ofcourse, it's their job.

  • @lostchild06 no i just have my opinions...i don't hate everything, I just can tell a whistle from super head voice, she is NOT whistling if you want to hear a whistle look up mariah carey or georgia brown

  • @zblamm2121 Well opinions are made based off facts, and if you got your facts straighten up, then you would know that Christina's whisle range has been confirmed many times before as actually being whisle and not super head voice.

  • @lostchild06 ....no , and even if it were a whistle at sounds pathetic and horrible.....literaly the WORSTE "whistle" cough coucgh super head voice i have heard

  • @zblamm2121 Nice trolling dude

  • christina aguilera has whistle register it even says so in wikipedia

  • she does just in the same song. Mariah is the best

  • they are not whistles...

    they are extremely high falsettos...

i think she has the highest headtone register on Earth..

    amazing!!!

  • this is because these notes are in live performances and I have never seen christina performing soar, ha ha

  • Completely agree! She DOES have whistle register, though her song "Soar" gives a better example than What a Girl Wants, and it wasn't showed here. Check it out!

  • amazing, jaja most of them are from What a Girl Wants!

  • GER=ORGIA BROWN HAS THE BIGGEST

  • @depechemodeultra She has the biggest but really it's all in the whistle parts. Maraiah has from the 2nd Octave to the 7th

  • Christina has a thick voice! Mariah has a breathy bed whispery voice! Both great singers. Christina has my vote though.

  • @robertomezza ya i agree with you. especially since it's harder for thick voices to do whistle notes

  • @JosueElite Does "powerful" to you mean sounding loud? What's the longest note Christna has held?? Mariah longest is 18-20 seconds. using riffs that makes sense and have meaning. )

FYI Mariahs lowest note is an Eb2/E2.

To me,Xtina is a cool singer..

  • @DanielAvilaAGT Christina Aguilera's longest note was 19 seconds long.

  • @lostchild06 Mariah's is a 18Sec. Vocal Long Note. Not just a straight note. Check it out, it's in "LEAD THE WAY" a song she wrote and collectively produced and arranged. and then tell me where to find the 19sec of Cristina

  • @DanielAvilaAGT Her singing 'At Last'

  • @DanielAvilaAGT check out christina aguilera at last live in the uk and you will find a 19 sec note.

  • just to jon the mariah carey vs xtina discussion. mariah has higher whistle nots and wider range, but her nots tend to be more airy, while christina's sound is more pure and she can really BELT

  • @popsicles012 Wrong, Mariah can do them airy and strong and fully round with resonance.

  • I think she has more control over her whistle register than mariah carey. MC forces her sometimes

  • i love the ending with a passion omg <3

she doesn't do whistle notes much often tho, she should.

  • WOW

  • i think christina iz better all mariah do is scream wehn she goes high ahn christina goes really high so i tynk she knowes wat high is ahn mariah knwes wat scream iz lol dnt gt me rong there both great singers

  • yea mariah carey and whistle higher...but christina can sing in full voice WAY higher than mariah

  • @browneyecutie91 In full voice Mariah still has more range...Christina just has a more powerul voice

  • Well. for Christina, it's like she got rid of the difference between her head voice and her whistle notes to the point of being indistiguishable. I think, though, that for her, anything going above around D6-E6 is going into whistle tone. It's amazing that while Mariah can hit almost a full octave higher, Christina still has so much more POWER that it makes even Mariah sound weak. Now THAT'S a voice!

  • 1:19 the best

  • At 1:10 Christina did so beautiful.

  • Mariah Carey always has an amazing whistle. When I first watch this Christina Aguilera's whistle that was really good.

  • This bitcj does not have a whiste register!!! those are just high falesttos!! BITCH PLEASE LEAVE IT TO THE QUEEN!!!

  • Her voice is irritating after a while. Do a whole song in low key and stop yelling and being a wanna be,And we know who her idol was so we know who she is copying.

  • @okramsinger are you stupid? Do you know what is a Whistle note? I think you don't know, because these are ALL whistles. IGNORANT

  • The major part of people think that high notes are all whistles... but they're wrong! The vocal chords don't vibrate when they whistle: they move like a reed, the result is that you hear a real whistle, but when Christina hits high notes you can hear a vibration, not a whistle. She did not reach the whistle register; if you listen to Mariah Carey or Georgia Brown you can hear a totally different way to whistle but Christina lets her chords free to vibrate so this is no a whistle.

  • I usually HATE whistles, but I thinks Christina's sounds really cool. It's very "bright" and smooth, instead of too squeeky.

  • lol not falsetto defino it's in the whistle register!

  • @katestaleyx I'm pretty sure it's "Por Siempre Tu", the Spanish version of "I Turn To You".

  • i love how she whistle she can control it .. im so envy ......

  • mariah carey has lost her voice because the excess of using the whistle register and christina knows do it without hurting herself

  • @LeonardSaint So true. I love that Christina saves her whistle for just a few songs. I love Mariah but I really, really wish she hadn't used her whistle in almost every song/performance.

  • @LeonardSaint ahahahahahahah..everybody knows Christina has a great voice (never like MC)..but she literally screams in her performances...so don't tell that she knows how not to hurt herself...'cause screaming is really dangerous 4 the vocal cords..(check many live performances of Christina Aguilera..especially recent performances)..anyway she's really a great artist! But Mariah is the best singer ever. Even if she has nodules on her vocal cords,now..she's still the best.

  • @Markosoulman Correction, Mariah used to be the greatest singer in the whole world, now her vocal chords are terrible injured, and she can't sing her old songs, she even lipsyncs now.

  • @NausAllien Yes, she's got nodules on her vocal cords..she ruled the '90 with a #1 each year..and she never stopped to rest herself...anyway...she's a songwriter, producer and still the best voice in the world, to me...even with nodules..'cause she used to be such a perfect singer in her past that she is still the most incredible voice on the planet, even with some problems. Sometimes she lipsyncs, but sometimes she does it live...and nobody can sing her song. Repeat..nobody.

  • @Markosoulman Yes, but I think she's not as perfect singer as she was before. There's a lot of videos of her last presentations that proof that she lipsyncs her old songs, and her new songs are live because the vocal range in the song is not as long and as high as it was in the past. Do you understand my point? Still, is a true that she ruled the '90s, and there's no singer that can sing her old songs.

  • @NausAllien Yes, she's not a robot...it's obvious that she can't sing like she did in her past...because her vocal cords are no longer in the same state (not because of a lack of technique, but for a overuse of her voice and her whistle range). Anyway..some of her recent songs are incredible and definitely not so easy to sing...I mean.."we belong together".."angels cry"...check the performance of "one child"..completely live...ok, not like the '90s...but damn...who can sing like that now?!

  • @NausAllien ...I'm a hard fan of her...do you understand mine(point)?!...eheh...I listen to her music since 1990...and today she's still the only one who can monopolize my attention...she's not just a singer, but she's a songwriter...so year after year you can discover something more about the person behind the artist....if you want..you could search some of her stuffs..reading the lyrics..and discover a new side of the coin... (I suggest you "close my eyes", "looking in", "imperfect" )

  • @Markosoulman I'm a really fan of her since 2000 when I first listen her single What a girl wants a fall in love with her, her style and her voice. I'm not saying that she's not the best pop singer in these days, but for sure she is not what she used to be, and I'm not talking just about the 90s, in her Back to Basics era she used to sing WAAAY better than she does now. C'mon, have you seen her performance for Fighter or Beautiful in 2010? If you compare that with the one in Stripped Tour

  • @Markosoulman You'll get my point. I know that some songs like You lost me, All I need, and some songs from Burlesque are outstanding, but in live performance she doesn't sound really well, or at least as she used to. I just think that she needs take some care of her vocal chords and STOP screaming like a crazy woman, I know that's part of her style, but I prefer a quality performance of Walk Away with her voice hitting all the notes than listen 20seconds of a long and boring scream.

  • @NausAllien emm...sorry...but I was talking about Mariah...I'm a hard fan of Mariah(since 1990)...eheh....I agree with you about Christina Aguilera...eheh...great talent, but screaming is dangerous for the vocal cords!...c'ya! ;)

  • @Markosoulman her singing is better than MC'S but not the whistle notes

  • @mrslias11 Nobody in this world can sing like MC. Often imitated, never duplicated.

  • @Markosoulman

Obviously Not. Mariah is NOT the first one NOR the last one. DEAL WITH IT!

  • @JulioGomezNYC I don't agree. I will deal with it when somebody will be able to sing "Emotions" live as Mariah did. And it's not just a "whistle-matter". You can like or dislike her, obviously no problem with it, but there are some objective facts, check Mariah live at Madison Square Garden in 1995. (really check, please) No one else can sing like this. Nowadays or in the past. Ok, now she's got nodules, but she's the best.

  • @Markosoulman

Yeah back in 91 and 95. Mariah Lost her voice... Massively. I liked her but she's gotten lazy and boring. Unless she'll sing like she did (We all know she won't) I won't buy another record of hers. Celine... Still has her Pipes, They both came at the same time to American charts. At least Whitney has an excuse (Drugs) for her voice but what does Mariah have??? Thats voice is GONE

  • @JulioGomezNYC Feel free to prefer the singer you like the most. I like Mariah cause she writes all her songs (the others you mentioned, not) and I like R&B. Fortunately everyone is free to chose its own favorites tastes.

  • @Markosoulman

Glad you think like that. Some fans can be SOOO delusional. Personally I don't compare singers, I just judge on artistic growth. TO me her best material stayed with Mottola. Most newer fans (Butterfly onwards) disagree.

  • Comment removed

  • @MsTreysongz1 It's not technically true..Mariah hitted a G#7, higher than MC you can find only Georgea Brown (C8)...but she can't sing well as MC. Minnie Riperton is a legend, but she didn't go higher than MC. Everybody has its own taste, that's good...but inform yourself before talking .

  • @LeonardSaint I wouldn't say that. She pushes her voice out of it's range.

  • @JoyeuseXI Please, she's a sopran, the whistle notes are IN her range. And she doesn't make a great use of whistle notes, just in a few performances.

  • @LeonardSaint She lost her voice because of bad habits like smoking, it wasn't because of over using it.

  • @LeonardSaint mariah carey hasn't lost shit..have you heard her lately??

  • @LeonardSaint Mariah didnt lose her voice

  • MC is better because she doesn't have to shuffle through the higher octaves to get there, she can just pull them out with out the 'mini scale'

  • @JosueElite

    you got it right..........

  • Whistle is hard, she is good, but MC is waay better. :D

  • Comment removed

  • MC can not hold high notes longer like christina... Christina can hold high notes for 19seconds... She's AMAZING...¡¡¡

  • Mariah can, Listen to " lead the way- Mariah Carey" and Judge =] !

  • that's ok, but it's only 18 sec, christina is still better 19sec and christina's 19sec note is high than mariah's..

  • @Dafemero

    that's right

  • @khukthail thank you its simply a fact Christina's voice is so much more powerful and stronger than MC plus MC whistle notes just get annoying after a while!

  • @0:32- Where was that at?

  • just look up "Christina Aguilera falsas esperanzas live'

    you should find it

  • I like Christina because she hits whistle notes... No one ever hits whistle notes live

  • maybe MC can do it higher,, yes,, i agree,, is her trade,,,,but,, Christina´s voice is so much powerful and stronger than MC

  • Christina's good @ th high notes, but i gotta say, Mariah can hit higher ones, and they sound better...sorry christina, still luv u

  • I love Christina Aguilera's high notes. Man I wish I can sing in high notes.

  • MC can't hit Christina's high notes

  • MC can hit way higher than Christina and thats a well known fact - everbody knows that.

  • @shacks29 that's right. mariah has a 5 octaves and christina, 4 octaves. so undoubtedly she beats xtina.

  • not anymore. she can't sing like she use to

  • Actually that doesn´t shorter her range at all,she still can hit these 7th octave high notes Live with ease, its her belting range that is chipped not her whistle register.

  • @shacks29: so true.

  • She KILLED those notes. Amazing talent!! But I still think MC is better

  • Mariah is always gona be better but a whistle is a hard thing to do so bravo chrissi :_)

  • I really luv when christina aguilera does this kind of note!!

  • daaaaaaaaang she went high i love xtina and mariah they are the only real singers out now days to me...

  • i love mariah's whistle..

  • she always start all of her high notes the same..psh they good 2 me

  • too bad you didn't realize that she was singing the same song the entire time how deaf can you be to ignore that? what a girl wants and then falzas esperanzas obviously is goign to start the same way lol

  • Um hun. These aren't whistle notes, she's just very flat the entire time and is just below the whistle register register. Like right below it.

  • any note above E6 in head voice is a whistle note fyi

  • So true!!! This notion of 'high fasetto', vs real whistle is just total bs created on the part of angry threatened Mariah fans, because her 'Divine gift' is matched...at least in terms of pitch that is!!-)

  • ppsh!!! Mariah can whistle circles around Christina!!!

  • It's actually not "bs"..Im a vocal teacher and we had to study these techinques if you actually knew there is a COMPLETE difference between the two vocal abilities of a whistle and a high head voice.

  • @ArtisticProdigy09 Yes there is, but anything past a E6 is whistle point, blank, period!!! The voice simply could not accomadate a note that high in sup-head voice...as it is the lead up to ultimately acessing the whistle register.

  • @Thkmra Actually to correct you, That is not true what so ever. So let me educate you swiftly. There are soprano's who are able to sustain a head voice up to G6 these are called "coluturra soprano's" look it up. So no, to correct you once again everything above an E6 is NOT a whistle register.

    Thank You

  • @ArtisticProdigy09 Wow...thanks for the lesson!!(sarcasm). Anyway I'm now aware that the Super-head voice can in fact extend well into the 6th octave, HOWEVER, doesn't change the fact that THESE notes from Christina are in fact 'real whistle notes', and not bastardized high falsetto, which some are trying to argue. High falsetto ex: Beyonce, and Patti Labelle, CLEAR diffrence!!

  • @Thkmra Christina uses her Super Head notes to reach up to a G6 and A6 , she can only touch all the way up there.. not really sustain.. that would be hard for her, because she manipulates her Super head notes to achieve that hemisphere so-to-speak.. i think that highest she has ever gon, in terms of sustaining, is E6. (correct me if im wrong) either way.. she clearly doesn't have the Whistle Register. it's more of a very extend super head register..

  • @ArtisticProdigy09 Can you give examples to show the difference between high whistle and (very) high head voice? I do think that the two can be kinda mixed together, especially for transitioning, but I didn't know head voice could be used by itself up that high.

  • I wanna see you singing like that ass-wipe.

  • .....Like this Bozo'!!
