There's only a few design issues with the MCMix. 1) The track select/record enable buttons are in a bad place (aka mostly between faders during a normal mix) 2) The automation mode per channel is accessed by holding a modifier and cycling between all the modes (on the MCU you select a track and press 'read' or 'touch' etc.. way faster 3) If you have 3+ units, the physical connection between them is *really* fragile. There should be a metal plate connecting units to keep it rigid.
@TheNeilParfitt yeah it has its own problems, but lets talk about what is right.......ethernet. im tired of cables on everything......lol less of a fire hazard, and i can take it with me anywhere i go, with out cables!!!! (precious) in my goloum voice...lol
Another thing for PC users... The current generation of Intel Chips are designed specifically for Mac and OS X Snow Leopard. YOU WILL NOT SEE THE HUGE SPEED BOOST ON A WINDOWS PC THAT YOU WILL SEE ON A MAC.
Also add about $1,500.00 to your Cheap PC price tag to get the Ultimate Version of Windows and to buy the additional software to try to come close to what you get with OS X and iLife. Wall Street Journal..
Guys if you're serious about your work... "JUST GET A MAC."
Windows is done they have dragged out all they can with the outdated kludge that is Open VMS at the Windows Core. No matter how pretty they try to make it it's still a Whore Kludge and sooooooooo outdated. OS X Snow Leopard runs circles around it and is built for the future. Just like Euphonix Gear is.
Trust me you will be a whole lot happier. And you'll get more work done and have lot more fun doing it.
fair point re:unix, but no, don't just get a Mac, you no longer need to. I have OSX running perfectly on a net book, and a desktop, the netbook is currently functioning as my Euphonix network bridge so I can use the MC mix with N4 in Vista, it's very stable. Macs are over priced, even used, style over content, it was cheaper to by a netbook new than purchase a used Mac book. If you are foolish enough to value prestige over value, sure, buy a Mac.
Not true... You do the side by sides Value is in the Mac with content and Apps... Also they run circles around the PC at every turn. You don't have to believe me just check out every PC rag out there.
They are not over priced for what you get. And you get what you pay for, if you want the cheap starter kit that you're going to have to upgrade all the time. Get a PC. Just got to Best Buy and price out a unit with Windows ultimate Vista or 7. You pay more on PC.
I have use both, PC close on 15 years, Mac for 5, as of now, head to head, little to no difference when it comes to performance based tasks, for clerical activities etc. yes the Mac is a pleasure to use, for everything else PC works great, no reason to run a Mac, plus, overclocking and modding is another bonus, not to mention gaming. Vista got bashed, unfairly, but it's not so bad, easily superior to XP. Ignore hype. Pretty soon, a computer will just be a computer, irrespective of OS.
Don't blame Euphonix... Microborg has yet to provide working driver sets compatible with Eucon that aren't bug ridden.
Microsoft's choice to not come into the 21st century by not going Unix and holding onto Open VMS at it's core. They're backing Hardware and Software developers into a corner forcing them to drop support for Windows.
Like it or now Mac and OS X Snow Leopard is built for the now and future. Windows at it's core is over 20 years old no matter how pretty they try to make it.
The most amazing control surface out there. Got to have one later this year, hopefully well supported in Final Cut Pro as well. Outstanding design and build quality!
I cant believe this CONTROLLER cost more than a Macbook Pro.

@jadajuan618 - I'll just speak my mind as professional user.. cables don't surpass workflow ergonomics... ever.
