Umm, i tried this, but it didnt do anything, i didnt get the blackra1n in my ipod, and it doesnt work, it didnt screw it up or anything, it just simply did nothing, it did not jial break it, i have a 1G i pod touch and it didnt work, i followed the instructions , but nothing happened when i pressed make it ra1n it had all the same notifications on my computer, but all it did to my ipod was restart it,, please help

I have Windows xp but when I run blackra1n I get the error message "blackra1n.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience." What should I do?

@Blakehx srry.it took forever for the reply. there is some things going around that blackrain is being discontinued at this moment but i encourage you to update to 3.1.3 or 4.0 already if u havent cause both versions should be jailbreakable. Thanks for the question.

well make sure ur on 3.1.2 then if your not then ur gonna need the specific program for jailbreaking that firmware thanks

@OunderOcover7 make sure you have the right firmware for the right gen. Each generation has its own unique firmware, so u need to get the right one. BTW, 8GB 3rd gens take 2g firmware for some reason. So good luck!

are you sure ur iphone is on 3.1.2 firmware. and maybe u should do a complete restore and then use blackra1n. tell me if these are helpful

just downgrade to the 3.1.2 firware by downloading it online (theres many places) and press and hold the shift key while while pressing the restore button. then select the 3.1.2 firmware and install

Do you really have to restore your ipod before doing this? I just don't want to redownload all those apps I already have. My friend did this before without restoring and it seems his was fine. Also, you still have access to the app store and the ability to download anything on it, correct?

You dont have to. Its just a really clean way to install it. And yes u still will have access to the app store for downloads

After you have added apps etc from cydia or rock what happens when you next sync to iTunes. Does it not wipe them or flag up that you have not paid for them? Just making sure I know what I'm letting my self in for before jailbreaking. Cheers.

Hey there, Matthew here.apps downloaded from rock,such as themes and 3rd party apps that you couldnt normally find in the app store shouldnt be flagged.i've downloaded things like backgrounder and winterboard and such and it all works fine when you sync it. if your referring to illegally downloaded apps from something like installous, thats a different story, that involves a little more explanation.but normal stuff, no it should work just fine good question.

@bigbuckmongo101 this works for all generartions. but FYI IPOD TOUCH THIRD GEN HAS A TETHERING WHERE EVERYTIME U RESTART OR TURNOFF UR PHONE/TURN ON...IT'LL AUTOMATICALLY PUT UR IPOD TOUCH INTO RESTORE MODE. FROM THERE ALL U HAVE TO DO IS PLUG IN UR IPOD AND RUN BLACKRA1N. thnks :D

Great Work! All worked perfectly and I am now going to see if I can find find a video that gives a walkthrough for using "Rock". I did this on my iPod Touch 2nd Generation which I also used the hacking way of getting 3.0 firmware for free. NO PROBLEMS!

ok turn ur iphone off and press and hold the home button and plug ur iphone into the computer. then restore it. that procedure is gonna put it into the recovery settings and there u can restore it and retry. srry for replying late. big tests at school dis week lol

so whenever you restart it or turn it off then on, itll put the ipod into restore mode. all u have to do is jalbreak it by plugging it into itunes and click "make it rain" in the program "blackra1n"

ok. when ur device is plugged into your itunes. right-click on its name on the left sidebar of itunes and select restore from back-up. this is an option, if the option after u restore and it doesnt ask to restore from a back-up
