oh oh piece of trivia: over here, we have tourtière (meat pie). The name comes from this bird the "tourte" (looks like a mix between a dove and a pigeon), which was used to make the pie. The tourte is extinct (been for a while). Nowadays, it's usually pork + beef and/or veal. And, depending on the recipe (of course everyone has their own), potatoes, maybe carrots, and spices like a bit of cloves and cinnamon. :) Your mincemeat story reminded me of this tourtière trivia.

But, it would depend on which indigenous group/groups you're after. There's types of jerky, stews, Eskimo ice cream (akutaq) on and on. Native Americans also ate deer, rabbit, raccoons, squirrel, blackberries and raspberries, etc.
