Funny thing about the fiddler's fakebook- in the book the tune that this sounds like is labeled "after the battle of aughrim"...and the tune "the battle of aughrim" is a few pages after but does not sound anything similar.. Just a funny example of how tune names can get mixed up! lol.
this song is one of our choices in my Classical guitar class in school!!! hence why i searched this. and this is the tempo that i quit elike too. so, thanks for posting this vid and helping me out for my midterm!!!
For those looking for the sheet music, this tune is frequently called "After the Battle of Aughrim." The "Battle of Aughrim" is a different song in lots of books.
First thing I did was get an Irish fingerstyle guitar book and learned the tips in there. As you can probably tell, I don't to a lot of ornamentation for this type of song, because I see these songs as needing to remain pure because of the story.
Look at how professional musicians play and learn about where and when to ornament, observe types of ornamentation, then get good. It's really pretty easy, but I'm good at impressions and imitation, so it may be different for me.
this is really good and i love the song! do you kno where i can get the sheet music for it? (i'm looking for it for a few differnet instruments and i cant seem to find the whole song only a part of it...)
Hey, sorry about the delay... I actually learned this song from a fingerstyle guitar book. But, if you're looking for the entire piece for more than one instrument, I would think that the best place to look would be a music store or something... can't say for sure. I haven't seen anything like that for the Battle of Aughrim.
thats ok... i guess i'll try a music store around my area since i cant find the song on the internet
but a quick question... i do have the song for the guitar but it seems a lot shorter then wat ur playing. did u repeat it at any point or was that the way the song is b/c the music sheet that i have has no repeat signs... ?
This is a b%$#@ to play on my Pan-flute, especially at vivace tempo :)

@madmax8410
Yeah, when I'm not playing to music I like to let the tempo go a little bit. Sometimes it can add a bit of flavor to a song. ;)
