I totally disagree with him on this, it didn't look like he unlocked much, he only had Mr. Beaks (penguin board) unlocked for special boards and said the "Extreme" mode was incredibly difficult. However, the game isn't actually that hard and once you start to actually play it &see how cool the game really is. I mean come on, there's a *spoiler alert* NES controller board, a rocket (that goes SUPER fast, makes life easy on the harder modes) and tons of alternate characters. Play before reviewing.

If you have a broadband Adapter to your GameCube you just need to download Xlink Kai to your pc .. depending on your internet speed and how far the other players are you can play online multiplayer on your GameCube , the software tricks your game cube thinkings its playing on Lan . when i get more funds i will order a adapter off eBay so i can try this.
Mario Cart double dash , Kirby air Ride also work with this software.

Of course, as the title would imply they thought it was better due to the excessive amount of attention focused on the tricks themselves. Honestly though, these are the same people who will tell you Call of Duty is better than Goldeneye. They are all about the eye candy and fast action, and not interested in the plot/adventure. Avalanche was better than SSX Tricky.

Ever since I got this game, which was many years ago, I have never found a problem with this game. Now that I have finally remembered this game, will play it and remember the memories, and I would rate it 10/10, since it is one of the favorite games I played on GameCube until they made the Wii and had to stop making those games. Notice that this "reviewer" just keeps saying that he doesn't "like" aspects of the game, but never leaves any information about what's wrong. It's a great game, and lots of fun. The arenas are huge, and fun to explore, with many alternate routes etc. The various modes take you through them collecting coins and gates etc. Again, keep and enjoy.

In my opinion this is the best snowboarding game till now, why? because I think it takes snowboarding a little bit more serious than other games do, It's not just about being goofy and doing extremely unrealistic tricks. 1080 avalanche is such an underrated game. It still remains my favourite out of all the snowboarding games on ALL Nintendo consoles. I love it cause it's more focused on speed and racing and you can do tricks along the way, while games like ssx are slower and more focused on tricks. There's nothing wrong with the controls, wtf is this guy smoking!?
Also, it gives you different consistencies of snow and ice and you really feel that you are arcing a line through the white stuff- it's an elegant and also fun game- up there with Outrun 2 for racing experiences in the last generation.

What horrible control scheme? "Wrestling the controls"? Huh? I never thought the controls were that bad. Sure, the game seemed kinda tricky, and when I first played the controls may have seemed a bit tricky or hard, but the controls aren't that bad.
I don't rememeber this game ever freezing, except maybe when it was showing the avalanche or something--never during actual gameplay. I do think I remember it seeming like the fps low at times.

It's still the best snowboarding experience you can have on the Wii to date. SSX Blur was horrendous, and 1080 (64) is much too dated.

I like the game too. I have it for GameCube and there's the control of the game like in my n-64game i don't see any other buttons except "z" is now "L" but ^^ i think that's normal XD
Tolles Spiel. Handhabung wie bei 1080° Snowboarding außer das "Z" zu "L" wurde. sonst ist alles aufm GameCube gleichgebliebn. Und wozu 1000 Punkte ausgebn, wenn man das im An- und Verkauf laden für 10 Euro bekommt?

I really love this game. Since my Wii's busted, I recently got into this again and I've had tons of fun. I would give it and 8.5/10.

5 is complete middle ground. Better than bad, but not good. Mediocre. 6 is more than half good. 7 is good. 8 is great, you've almost filled the whole scale! Good job man! 9 is utterly brilliant. 10 is...well, 10.
Or at least that makes sense to be. How can 1-6 or 7 all = terrible? The idea that something is only good if it reaches the 8-10 range is completely ridiculous (really, think about it).

1080 avalanche is such an underrated game. It still remains my favourite out of all the snowboarding games on ALL Nintendo consoles. I love it cause it's more focused on speed and racing and you can do tricks along the way, while games like ssx are slower and more focused on tricks. There's nothing wrong with the controls, wtf is this guy smoking!?
I hope they make a new 1080 for the Wii!

Also, it gives you different consistencies of snow and ice and you really feel that you are arcing a line through the white stuff- it's an elegant and also fun game- up there with Outrun 2 for racing experiences in the last generation.

1080 Avalanche got some 90% reviews in magazines but it remains very under-rated by games players I think. That is a big shame- this is not a game that is trying to be flashy with tricks or give you loads of freedom like the SSX games. Instead it's a tightly focussed racing game. Think Super Mario Kart on ice but with much better graphics, much better (and more) shortcuts, and no being hit by red shells that you can't avoid. The course design is often superb and gives you a variety of

I find the controller easy as hell after playing15 mins u get used to it the stunts aint that great but I love the racing on the game (better Racer that SSX on Race events)
Extreme difficulty was easy as hell for me and I suck most of the time at sport games so this review IMO its kinda broken

What horrible control scheme? "Wrestling the controls"? Huh? I never thought the controls were that bad. Sure, the game seemed kinda tricky, and when I first played the controls may have seemed a bit tricky or hard, but the controls aren't that bad.
I don't rememeber this game ever freezing, except maybe when it was showing the avalanche or something--never during actual gameplay. I do think I remember it seeming like the fps low at times.
Pixelation? Maybe I need to get my eyes checked. :S
