An entertaining match, with many twists and turns. But Jana should have finished Sabatini off in the 2nd set. In the 3rd set, Jana basically handed the match to Sabatini on a silver platter.
Novotna was such a choking clown, probably the biggest choker in the history of top women tennis players. She made even a mental midget and notorious choker herself like Sabatini look like she was Sanchez Vicario in the mental game by comparision.
If only Gabriela had improved her serve I'm sure she would have won more Grand Slams... she had everything else.. great ground-strokes (top-spin & slice), good movement, excellent touch at net.
This video was from the 1991 French Open Quarterfinal between Jana Novotna & Gabriela Sabatini. Jana had this match in the bag, but Sabatini escaped with the win. I think Jana had 2 or 3 match points, but couldn't put Sabatini away. They played many tight matches, but Jana let Sabatini off the hook in this one. Thanks for posting this great video!.
