It is so full of passion and love, I doubt she could sing exactly the same again, like asking Gustav Klimt to paint Der Kuss again.....Shafu

  • She is truely a freak .... u can't create singers through tutoring .... one must hv it in him / her and Shubhomita has it ... she's just toooooooooooo good !! God bless may she get a long singing innings !!!!

  • Sundoro, sundoro...Subhamita....

  • Amazing delivery. I doubt whether Subhomita can imitate her performance again. This really touches heart.

  • @Sandeepchat

I think it is impossible to imitate this kind of performance . Her performance totally matched with the theme and emotion of the song and with the event and time she performed. She made the song as great as Tagore did in the theme of the song. I forget everything when I listen the song, only travel over the world Tagore stated in the song. She did a great great job for the great song.

  • @dkhaldar The same song was also sung by Swastika Mukhopadhyay (Older voice) and I must say it sounds no less powerful than Subhamitas beautiful delivery. Since this is a stage version, I would count this as one of the best that I ever heard. The voice is very powerful and captivating. I would love to hear her studio recording of the same song. If Tagore had listened this beauty, he would have been truly pleased!

  • proud to be a bengali

  • " WOW" ...Subhamita ....I' m speechless !!! Even though, I heard this particular one tons of my own time and shared with my other friends within FB, and I wonder what Kobi Guru would think after hearing this one? Try to imagine, how charming that very glorifying moments would be ha ha ??? Fantastico ! Thanks again for posting :) :) MN, USA.

  • KOMOLA-ASHONO:

You mean throne or seat made of lotus flower, like the one Lakshmi is seating on. THANKS for the correction, csandeepk. [There is a Komola in Siddhartha. Her famous line, Cannot you do anything else besides think, fast and compose poetry?]

KOMOLA-ASHONO: Orange color decorated cushion laid on the floor for some one special to seat; Orange color could signify golden. ASHONO could also signify Throne.

    [Contd. 5]

  • [3]

Apart from her desperate devotion, she has on her side one of the most romantic poets of the century to help express her emotion. Tagore was a master of wordplay, and in this poem he is probably at his best. That makes translation very difficult, especially for someone of my background and bias. So feel free to correct and comment. There but for the grace of Tagore, go I. [Contd. 4]

  • [2]

Taken simply, it is a song from a cupid-struck teenager (Juliet) trying to connect her lover - hoping for an encore, a romantic interlude. In summary, she is inviting him at her place for a celebration. She has arranged certain things for him (Kept my golden throne ready for you), and has promised to offer her certain other things (Will play my golden guitar for you). She is also hoping certain things from him (Shower my sight with your serene smile).

    [Contd. 3]

This posting is for GSJG76, morningbreeze2007, samkalrez, and anyone else interested. OHEY SUNDORO is categorized as a love song, but could also be interpreted as a devotional song - devotees desires for a union with her deity. [Contd. 2]

  • Subhamita

Fantastic. You are singing Rabindra Sangeet from your heart that I understand. Please keep singing. May God bless you. JAI HO.

  • I fall in love with her tune......so melodious..thanks for uploading

  • oshadhoron geyechhen gaanti. incidentally ini amar dadu Sri Achintya Sen er chhatri :-).

  • haunting melody. i can't understand most of it. maybe somebody will post the translation as a comment. thanks. she has a beautiful voice and she sings from the depth of her heart.

  • Khub shundor.

  • I Think she is one of the best singer in west bengal. very nice

  • Try doing better yourself, perhaps?

  • This is a rabindrasangeet. Actually we are aware about ~500 Rabindrasangeet songs, there are many songs of rabi thakur which are very hard to classify as the general nature of tune he put forth for majority of his songs.

  • Ini ekjon jar opore bhorsa hoy.. Asha kori ei bhabei onek din gan shuniye jaben..

  • Terrific voice! I enjoyed it immensely. You sing from your heart. Loved it!

    God bless.

  • good

  • Kotodin por Aabaar Praan ta bhorey gelo ei gaan ta shuney!!!! Ki ashaadharan darod Subhamita er konthey plus beautiful voice quality. Even though the audio recording is not good, but if you just listen her voice, one is touched to the core of one's being if one has the ear. I already listened to this close to one hundred times. Subhamita...Jug Jug Jiyo !!!

  • Good singing talent here. However, the audio recording is piss poor!

  • Tumee sundor o.......Nice Bangla Gaan and no need to make it a rap or something like that.

  • It is absolutely breathtaking. Subhamita ji has been a great inspiration....and her 'sur' is amazingly haunting.....kya baat hai.....and whether she sings Rabindrasangeet or adhunik.....she is too brilliant to be talked about.
