Hollywood does not portray USA as a perfect place with wonderful heroes. In fact I would not want to go there. If the Arabs feel that they have a a wonderful culture they can always make their own films. Personal experience with Arab men does not make me respect them or trust them.
The cinematic portrayal of Americans in America don't inspire me to visit there in this lifetime and I don't have much respect for them when they travel to my country or when I see them in other countries. As a western woman I have never had a good experience with a Muslim/Arab man. Hollywood does not portray USA as a perfect place with wonderful heroes. In fact I would not want to go there. If the Arabs feel that they have a a wonderful culture they can always make their own films. Personal experience with Arab men does not make me respect them or trust them.

The cinematic portrayal of Americans in America don't inspire me to visit there in this lifetime and I don't have much respect for them when they travel to my country or when I see them in other countries. As a western woman I have never had a good experience with a Muslim/Arab man. I do think that their early scholarship and architecture is brilliant but the religious culture has been hijacked by stupid, ignorant fundamentalist fools who deserve their portrayal.

I know many Chaldeans who lived in Iraq during the 50s-80s. Not only was there no religious persecution of them, but rape, when it did occur usually meant life imprisonment or death for the RAPIST. Huge difference between Iraq, and Saudi villages I guess, though even what you say is exaggerated.

I'm an American collage student who watched this as a part of her Visible Rhetoric class and I have to say I'm horrified by how much Arab and Middle Easterns are portrayed as stock evil villains or incompetent lechers. I have never thought that about an ethnic group and I think Hollywood needs to clean up its act seriously.
