  • I love this song. It's a great FUN song. Fun lyrics, FUN melody, and a great bouncy groove that just lopes along. Always loved this album. It's got it's own sound. (^_^)

  • I like it!(: it made me smile

  • I sure wouldn't mind having any of them picking me up The Beach Boys Bow Chicka Wow Wow RIP Dennis and Carl

  • ........now i know where Weezer got "it"......this song kicks my BEEP!

  • Haunting song with bizarre embellishments. IMO the best song on BBs Love You album. I don't mind lyrics only music. Actually I NEVER mind lyrics. Even Dennis's voice - which I'm not fan of - doesn't touch its beautiful melody.

  • @TheMarishka9 Yes it a great song!! Never mind the lyrics.....love this album!!

  • Love it...nothing like a man who will wash a woman's hair...a keeper!

    Great song...

  • for years, I always thought Brian sang this with his rough voice....never thought it was Dennis.

  • great song

  • This song is beautiful; a highlight of the album.

  • I love you Dennis. I sang this song to all my kids and finally have a daughter so I dont have to change any lyrics.

  • you guys don't think this has anything to do with brian wilson's mental illness? c'mon.

  • @StarCreme he is basically wicked crazy in this album. Anyone who denies this is blind and deaf.

  • He's doing what to her butt?

  • wonderful album, wonderful song and spiritual singer. Thank you so much for loading...

  • @BrokenneckYgor - your a twat !!!

  • @BrokenneckYgor why is this song sick? i think it's quite sweet and innocent.

  • @BrokenneckYgor - Only A SICKO WEIRDO would think there is anything 'sicko' about this song.

  • @prescient8 the lyrics ruin the entire song

  • @JuxtaposeMystery Lyrics are beautiful, you must not have a kid

  • @TheBadMovieReviewer1 if i had a kid i probably wouldnt want to wash her body or pat pat her on the butt

  • @JuxtaposeMystery Part of being a parent, nothing strange about that

  • @TheBadMovieReviewer1 for 1977

  • Such a sweet song!

  • Brian and Dennis...always thought it was just Brian.

  • Come pick me up.

  • wow! wonderful

  • Out of bounds. Transporting. Genius!

  • @belladeballe...epic fail. This song is absolutely beautiful.

  • One of my all time favs! Remember my mom playing and singing this song for me when I was little. Now I sing it to my son!

  • One of my fave BB songs Shows Brian's genius at it's most rudimentary level. I always thought this album was a must for anyone who wanted to understand his writing.

  • I agree with what most of you are saying. These songs that Brian created are so amazing in the aspect of chord changes and melody. This was the magic of Brian.

  • This song would be good on Family Guy with Peter singing about Stewie.

  • We now live in a world where so much is sexualized, that now the lyrics can sound rather perverse. But I always took the lyrics at face value, and thought of it as an innocent, perhaps naive and sweet love song from father to his child.

I love the melody and those awesome Brian Wilson chord changes - always unpredictable and at the same time pleasing and soothing.

  • I agree with you. Today, most of society has a lot of sexual innuendo or whatever that looks degrading, yet sexual... Basically, "sex sells"... It's sad.

  • so cute

  • This song is so weird and awkward but beautiful at the same time!

  • Brian could write a song about anything !!! and use those incredible chord progressions that SOUND simple, but are NOT !! Dennis and Brian singing on this.

    John Hunter Phillips

"If We Ever Need A Super Man"

  • Yep, all of you below have nailed it .. you describe the beauty & enduring inherent appeal of this song to a tee. Even in this late 70s period .. not one of Brian's better periods in his life .. he could still spin off marvellous little gems like this one - & enhanced by Dennis' moving vocal .. as if it was just so, so easy for a master-craftsman like him. God what a unique talent he is to the music world, and what joy & pleasure he brings to all LOVERS & appreciators of fine, classy music.

  • so now I know where elvis costello took his inspiration!

  • @pontello3

    ...and grandaddy

  • Brian reviewed the Love You LP for Crawdaddy when it came out and sadly he did mean this to be about an adult

  • I always loved this song on the Love You album....When my little girl was a baby I picked her up and "danced" with her. Then at her wedding summer, she surprized me with it and that was her father and daughter wedding dance! There was hardly a dry eye at her reception! Sweet little tune all right!

  • Man! That is awesome. I've always loved this song.

  • Just extra-extra-ordinary melody and chords/arrangement. I know, some silly words, but oh those chords, that melody, the sustained 4th or whatever it is -- phew! Brian and Dennnis, boy.

  • Love You is one of my fav albums! this is a great song...i love the vocal arrangement at the end!

  • Sorry, my english isn't very good.

What's the meaning of "Pat pat pat pat pat her on her butt butt"?

I mean... is this song really about babies?

Anyway. I like this song how I understand it.

  • yes

    little kids

one of them must of had a kid when this was written.

  • Yeah, maybe, but this song really sounds sick to me :P

Like if he was talking to a real woman and how he want to treat her like a little baby. And how he want to do something in her ass at the end.

Am I the only one? I guess the Beach Boys would never had make a song like this.

I prefer my version. I like sick songs :P

  • its a weird song

    and i have several kids

    oh yeah,

they were all doing a lot of drugs in those days

    so.... yah, its weird.

but its just a dad who loves his child

  • it's your dirty mind.

  • I guess it was recently 25 years since Dennis passed. Glad to see they've released his solo album !

  • We Miss You Denny!

  • the ending shows how brian could still conjure up the magic WOW!!!!

  • Love to hear "Let's Put our Hearts Together" sung by Brian and Marilyn from Love You. Brian's comeback has been nothing short of incredible....new wife, no more Landy ( deceased ), new outlook on life, medications...

  • I wasnt too keen on this tune when I 1st heard it, but years later, it's a quaint little tune and its sweet to heard Brian and Denny sing together. Love You is the funkiest album ever made. It really is...

  • The BEACH BOYS LOVE YOU was nearly finished as a "Wilson" only Beach Boys album, but Mike & Al were invited to add vocal parts, before it's release. In fact, it's said Mo Ostin, then president of Warners, almost rejected this album, due to is "lack of production". What is great about LOVE YOU, if you really dig into it, are the great chord changes, and the "little" things Brian does..proving his "gift" was still intact in 1977. This album gets voted "favorite" with PET SOUNDS by fans.

  • Right on. Songs like "Airplane" and "The Night Was So Young" show how unique this album is.

  • There are many fans that will disagree that Love You is a Favourite. It's one of the most interesting discussions among them. I love the album. There are, however, many fans that loath it.

  • This song is interesting because it features only the three Wilson bothers. Mike and Al are not on the recording and Bruce was not with the group at this time.

  • Yeah, this song is great. I'd read some reviews panning the Love You album, and when I finally got it, I absolutely loved every song. This one is one of my favorites.

You know, the MIU album is pretty good, too. It's far better than any review I've ever read.

  • There is nothing creepy, you have to be a father or mother to know what a true joy is to have a baby child. The best thing this world can give you.

  • ...my mom listening to this song, singing it to me when I was little. Just brings back memories! I love the Beach Boys!

  • How many rockers wrote songs about the joys of having children? Just another reason to love the Beach Boys.

  • great, very cute song and video, thank you to the poster lol

  • any poster with a name like yours is OK with me

  • thanks, have always enjoyed listening to the songs he wrote, such a talent gone way too soon

  • Has anybody got the song, Mona?

  • Yup. Probably my favorite from the album. Great to sing along when you're drinking

  • what's the name of the album? (:

  • Yeah haha dance to it at a party

  • One of my favorite Beach Boys Songs. Thank you!

  • Love it. Great but often overlooked song!

  • Awesome!!! One of my favorite tunes. Love LOVE YOU.
