This is pretty awesome. I'm looking in to buying an electronic drum set. So far it looks like Simmons is what I'm aiming at. I also want to use it for Garageband and Rock Band. I don't think I could put together a drum brain, but I do have a somewhat broken RB2 kit. Theoretically could I ship you that and $165 and in return youd make me a drum brain?
Yah, you could. I have not made one in a long while though, if you want i could dig up the old webpages i used when i made this (my first) one and send them to you. Should work as long as the card in your RB2 kit is not broken; the pads and sensors can be torn to shit, but the card inside is important.
Btw, its not a drum brain you make, but a reader and translater from the simmons drum brain to the Xbox.
Its better if you make it on your own, get a more rewarding feeling :P not that hard even
Hey dude you have just wasted soo much money. You can use these drums on rockband and only thing you need is GHWT drums an a midi cable and then just plug the midi Cable to your drum set and from there to ghwt drums víola you are ready!
yes, and i can program a GHWT drums to sound how i want em. oh wait, no i cant.
And yes, GHWT drums have a brain capable of recording music onto your computer with a wide variety of selections. Oh no, you cant. You can play real drums on GHWT, nope, no you cant.
As for using em; GHWT drums cost money as well, and are bulky. why would i want 2 sets out? And i made this mod before GHWT.
how can you get the drum brain without me buying it from you? is there a way i can connect it to my regular rock band drums or something like that and use that as the drum brain?
I have a SD7K also, and i have been trying to find a way to hook it up to work with rock band for the longest time. Do you have a link or something that shows how you did it. I would appreciate it if you could send it to me in a replay to this message
just your pedals are paralell and staggered which is very abnormal. widen the legs on your set so you can have the pedals turned out a bit more. it can be done, i promise, i have this drum set
damn.. u got jacked.. i got the dw7000 for $199 brand new at guitar center. but they are great pedals nonetheless. and i think they are cheaper cuz they have a lighter feel, and are not as sturdy as the 5000 or 9000, which i personally dont care since i could go faster on the 7000 than the others and not get too tired. it's all about personal feel.. never let prices fool u.
i have the same exact set, do i get a USB cord that is double sided and plug it into the drum brain and the other bigger side in the USB port on my PS3? thanks for the help...
The box is what is holding the things that made it compatible.
What you see is just a black box with the RB drum brain sticking thru.
In the drum brain is a chip with 8 Cat5 wires soldered to it, the mod. The cat5 jack is then snapped into a RJ45 jack, with wires splitting from that into the MSA-P board's terminal blocks. each set of 2 on the blocks = 1 color, 1 for the hit 1 for doubles. The MSA-P is programmed to read Midi hits from kit and change them to colors. all this sent to RB brain.
If you dont understand i can make it for you at an estimated 190-210 dollars, shipping included. If you really are interested i can get a real estimate, which you would pay to my paypal. After payment received you would get mod in about 10 days, longer depending on how long it takes me to get materials.
Hey man, nice job on the mod. I like how you integrated the RB drum brain into your project box for the MSA-P. I still need to get around to doing something like that.
Yah, its loads better than keeping everything loose.
I just up and decided i would put it in a box when my cat jumped on the MSA-P and ripped all the wires out from the blocks. Took me 30 mins to fix it and i was damned pissed.
:P
So i pilfered that black box from my dad, took a tiny saw and cut the outline of the RB brain on the top, hotglued it in from under, and hotglued MSA-P under RB brain.
I suggest you do it, if nothing else but for the looks.
sure, I can make you the mod for 210 dollars and make it nice and clean in a box like mine, or i can give you instructions for making it, which will cost you 140-150 for the materials :P.
But you would need to have a good knowledge of these things.
Reason Me making it would cost so much more; I would have to buy you a new rockband kit so i can tear it apart. tacks on 40 dollars.
i just bought the SD7K and Midi Adapter. I can't seem to get it to work. did you just plug and play or did you have to do some altering of equipment?

ps3 one IS the drum brain.
You cant "get" the brain anywhere, you MAKE it.
You have to take apart and modify your ps3 rockband drum kit and add msa-P card to it.
NickTuber 3 years ago
where do you get the electrical box for a ps3? or make one?
NewYorkJets99 3 years ago
PS3 is same as xbox one, just you use ps3 drum controller brain.
If you want i can make one for you, with same ammount i quoted for the guy earlier.

its not that hard.
I can give you instructions on how to do it, it will cost you around 145-165 on your own, if you already have RB drums
I can make one for you and sell you it for 200, 165 if you ship me your rockband drums (that way i wont need to buy a new kit)

DW 9000's are way more than 50 dollars than the 7000's. Even the 5000's are more than the 7000's.

your commenting because i screwed up prices?
Lol
I really dident look into them too much; i tried out a few and liked this one.

mexicutiner88 3 years ago
a drummer :D
Good.
Wanna gimme some tips on heel toe?
Im learning a few songs OTHER than rockband, and i really need speed on my legs for em (dimmu borgir). Im just starting to drum for reals.
And yeah i checked prices. Why the hell is the 7000 series so cheap?
5000 are like 400, 9000 are around 500-600 and these cost me only 240
