  • ive had issues with it for years but when the guilt sets in, i do anything i can to get rid of what i've done. ive seen councellors etc but none have helped at all.. i guess they just think coz im not overweight or underweight that it doesnt matter. wish i knew how to stop.

  • @Kystargenious That makes a lot of sense and must feel really frustrating to not feel like you are being taking seriously or that your pain matters less because you are not overweight or underweight. In an upcoming series I will be talking about how to "bounce back fast" after you slip up with food. Your pain is real and very important and that guilt that makes you do anything you can to get rid of it surely feels terrible. There are ways to stop that guilt in its tracks.

  • Intuitive eating only helps with gasping for food - do you at any point in your other videos address ways of dealing with the other types of non-hunger eating in the same depth and clarity you discuss intuitive eating? I've been working on intuitive eating with great success but I need some guidelines to help me battle the other types of non hunger eating that are holding me back! Thanks!

  • @randioactive You are absolutely right! Yes, intuitive eating only helps the gasping for food. In future videos as well as in my audio series I address the underlying issues and solutions to the other types . I recognize that those do nothing to help you today!! So in the meantime..I give an introduction in the Non-Diet Solution Overview video and I also provide individual coaching over the phone/skype here: intuitiveeatingcoach.blogspot(dot)com Hope this helps!

  • Great!! Good job in finding yourself! You are right, Numbers are a part of the diet game. Its hard to break that thinking!!!

  • Hey!!

Your videos are really helping me and I appreciate you opening up to the world. Its nice to see someone like me. If you don't mind me asking, how much have you lost doing intuitive eating vs. Dieting/binging?

    Thanks,

    Sabrena

  • @sabrenanomani Hey there!! Thanks so much I am glad that you are enjoying this new world! I don't weigh myself (an old dieting behavior that would trip up my old nutty diet-thinking!!) ....but I went from like a size 12 to a size 0 skirt. Hope this helps and thanks again for your kind note!

  • Quick question - did you exercise to lose the weight, or was it soley intuitive eating?

  • @smoothseas1 Hey there! I actually sort of on purpose stopped "formal" exercising because I was nutty about exercise as well....used it as a way to purge calories... but it was with intuitive eating PLUS...the other skills to stop the other types of non hunger eating...those were key..intuitive eating only deals with the gasping for food (I talk about this in future vids)..hope this helps!!!!

  • @josielenore Thank u so much for replying, looking forward to more videos! :D

  • I love ur videos it's so analytical and frank. I've definitely been many different phases that you just mentioned. but I would not be able to speak and discuss about them in public. because.. all the symptoms I've earned from dieting make me sound like I have a serious mental issue . I applaud ur courage and ur competent way to present this!!

  • @cecehong Hahaha this really made me laugh! I know we all sound insane when we talk about some of the dieting stuff we've done!!! Thanks for your kind and funny note!

  • We are so in sync! I love how you lay things out for people. Great Video sweetie.

  • @OvercomeBingeEating Aw thanks such kind words! I love that we're in sync!!

  • @Sugarrsweet1 Wow two months is amazing!!! I'd love to hear what you have done to get such great success. I'm so sorry you are having that mentality again today, that must feel really scary to have those desires come back after such a long time. I'm curious what is different about today that might be hitting on that? ..I just posted a new vid that talks about the two main reasons why we'd want to binge...this is such a small space..feel free to email me thru youtube if you want to chat more!!

  • OMG i was watching your other videos and they were really help ful but you lost ALOT of weight:)

  • @jokerjelly oh wow thanks that is super sweet of you to say!! So glad they were helpful..more to come...just filmed one today!!!

  • i was wondering where you had gone! glad to see you back, will you be doing more videos on a regular?

  • @win2477 Hey there..geez sorry for the long delay in responding! Thanks so much for being glad that I'm back. Yes it is my plan to work my way through the five types of non hunger eating and the solutions I found.

  • thanks for this!

  • Your videos make me instantly feel better! Im only 20 but have battled with food for about ten years! I re-watch your vids all the time lol

    So glad your back! xxx

  • @miriamou I was 9 when I started the nuttiness with food...so about the same age as you. Well I love that you are only 20 and can make peace with food MUCH younger than I did!! Thanks for your super kind note and sorry for my egregiously late response!!!

  • Missed you...glad you're back. Look forward to your advice.

  • Hi, Josie! Your videos are great!! I've noticed that the foods I label as "off-limits" are the ones that I will actually consume in excess. I'm going to go back to the mind-set that I had as a child where no food was "bad". If I don't deprive myself of a food, I will be able to eat an appropriate amount...just as I did before I became obsessed with nutrition/weight loss. =D

  • Hi, Try intellectus 424 diet (Search on Google). I dropped a lot of unwanted fat it is awesome.

  • GREAT to see byou're back. Can't wait to hear the rest. Eating because you ate is SO ME......and I want to stop this crazyness. Eating raw food has done a lot for me - but it can't work unless I find the answer on how to stop emotional eating. YES you can emotionally overeat on apples - is thas crazy???

  • @MNP124 Virginia- wow thanks for the super warm welcome back!!! That means a ton!!! Thanks for the fav too...*swoon* :)

  • yayyy you're back!! And you look amazing too =) xx

  • @EDRecoverRhi Aw! Thank you so much...that is so incredibly kind of you to say! ..or type :)

  • Wow! Your back!!! Excellent video, i'm looking forward to more.

  • @misslilycherry Thanks!!! You are so sweet!

  • ok, so dieting doesn't work. What do I do then? I do exercise and am active, but my diet is my weak point. The first three minutes of this vid is pretty much my life, so what do I do?

  • @TheNextAttempt Right!!!??? GREAT question...I'm going to be posting two follow ups to this that talk about 'the real problem' and 'the real solution'....then the rest of my vids are going to focus on step by step actions to do it. But for now..there are two reasons why we have a chaotic relationship w food a) dieting leads to overeating and b) we often use food to change how we are feeling....intuitive eating relieves the first and a handful of other skills to change how we feel w-out food

  • @TheNextAttempt (pt 2) enable us to change how we feel w/out the hostess cupcakes! The urgency I hear in your kind honest post puts the fire under me to get those vids done and out!!! There really is hope!

  • josie you are looking so gorgeous. you look like you lost quite a bit more weight. please post your next video soon. i need it!!

  • @RaeStuff WOW thanks!!!!! That feel great to hear...I will I will!!!!!

  • My "Diet" is by removing all processed/unhealthy foods from my diet. And eating as healthy as possible. This isn't a "diet" right?

  • @x3loveyuki its still a "diet". i eat that way (for the most part) except for when i really crave junk food and cave in to it. I think josie is trying to emphasize that we shouldn't deprive ourselves of what we want. It's just that sometimes we dont really WANT a chocolate bar, what we really want is a hug, or a solution, or some love, etc...

  • @x3loveyuki GREAT question! There is a quick and easy test: do you ever binge or overeat on the foods you "remove" from your diet? (you don't have to answer that out loud! :) If it is a preference that is coming from the inside out (which I'll talk about in step 5 of Hunger Directed Eating in an upcoming vid)....then you won't have any of the rebound effect of gasping for food...but if it is a rule from the outside you may see bingeing and beating yourself up if you eat the forbidden foods..

  • I'm so glad you are back! Your videos are awesome:) thanks for sharing your knowledge:)

  • @elissams Aw thanks for missing me...it makes me feel like so much less of a nerd for how much I missed you guys!!!

  • you're actually kind of a poetic story teller...i love it!!

  • @jnkawahatsu Wow that is SUCH a nice thing for you to say!!! Thanks!

  • great video. cant wait to hear more!

  • If you can believe it I just went through a period of dieting all week to find myself completely ruin it this weekend...this video is exactly what I needed to see right now!

  • @bhanson0703 Ah I am so so so glad that this vid spoke to you exactly where you are at! Oh I know those days- and that cycle of falling off the food cliff. I have an upcoming vid that talks about "Help I've Eaten and I Can't Get Up: How to bounce back fast!" But for now I encourage you to be really kind to yourself and remind yourself that what you did is the perfectly normal response to restriction!!! Thanks so much for your kind note!!!

  • You're so skinny! It's hard to believe that you eat whatever you want. What is it that you eat nowadays, anyway?

  • @ajhaydenus Thanks! That super nice of you to say! ...to answer your question I eat pretty much everything from cucumbers to chocolate ganache! Keep your eye out for my "Hunger Directed Eating" vids to come I am going to go into detail about it... it is so incredibly exciting to be able to share this with you guys!

  • great vid.

now how to you determine the difference between a failed dieter and binge eating disorder?

  • @ReillyAJ Thanks! Such a good question. I'd love to answer more in depth in a vid but for now...I actually think (and Janet Polivey- the lead diet researcher from Univ or Toronto agrees) that binge eating disorder is caused and worsened by dieting/restricting. So I think a 'failed' diet....is what happens early on...but then as we start beating ourselves up and restricting more tightly the behavior that we show looks a lot more like BED.
