Those bands are like weather patterns- it's a gas giant after all, and its atmosphere subject to changes, turbulence, chaos.

When you say "scientists are stumped as to why" that may be true as to the exact event/process which caused it to disappear, but generally, no great mystery here: Earth's cloud patterns change all the time- why wouldn't Jupiter's?

The FACT is that Jupiter lost one of its belts because Jupiter has massive gas storms raging all over it. They have been going for thousands of years. This is not the first time that Jupiter has lost / gained one if its belts. It happened during the 70's and again during the 90's also. Its a common thing.

And God told him to prophecy it would happen to Jupiter in a meeting and the day later the amateur photographers photographed Jupiter without its stripe. And scientists still can't explain it. The miracle was that it happened with no explanation and the fact that the moment he prophesied it, it happened. :)

Jupiter rotates you know. you can see the "great red spot" on the left, and since THAT always stays in the same spot, It rotated to the other side of itself. It's simple, the one stripe on the right is of the other side. so it hasn't disappeared at all.

Jupiter went behind the Sun and came back into vision missing it's lower equatorial belt. The side facing the Sun is what we saw first so maybe the sun did it and it goes back to normal after it cools a little. They may have just never noticed it before.
