These guys were a creation of Jonarthon King, who sang "Everybodys Gone to the Moon"..These guys' big hit was "Good News Week". available on YouTube..
BTW That's Jonathon King doing the singing on this..
2009ironfighter's correct. They were RAF groundcrew serving at Wittering near Stamford. My parents knew them as 'Geordie' Honeyball lived near us. My Dad was also groundcrew at Wittering at the time.
These lads were all stationed at RAF Wittering a V Bomber base with Victa B2's of 100 & 139 Squadron. They were called hedgehoppers because that was the role of the B2's armed with the Blue Steel missile stand off bomb and anonymous because any one in the armed forces was supposed not to have a civilian occupation - ie rock star.
The Hedgehopper was DEFINITELY a British Buccaneer. They built them at Brough here in East Yorkshire, and the pub nearest the factory is called The Buccaneer in its honour, with various hedgehoppers mentions on the memoraibilia on the walls.
Rod Buckle & Jonathan King were involved in this recording I think????
Mike Tinsley "My Survival" released on the Basca Academy digital Recording label will get its first broadcast in Australia during March 2010. available on amazon
know this record well, this group was put together, out of the us airforce, the pilots used to fly so low they where called hedgehoppers. bit of useless info...
They were in the not in the USAF. as you claim [shame on you]. They were in the RAF. The name 'Hedgehoppers' came from new role of the Buccaneer aircraft. This was originally a Royal Navy plane and the RAF were converting it for a low flying role in order to get under the enemy radar. The RAF has always referred to low flying as 'hedgehopping'.
According to urban legend in Inverness .... YES !!!! Auld Joe was part of this one hit wonder group. Looking at the pics that go with this there is a couple of them that could be joe, one in particular in the last pic looks very like his recently deceased youngest son, and therefore possibly a young joseph. (front left) hope this helps.

The flip side of this 1966 Parrot label (in the States) single, "Please Don't Hurt Your Heart For Me" is also a gem. Great band!
