The song was written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love about Shirley England, She borrowed her father's Ford Thunderbird to go study at the library. Instead of driving to the library, she ended up at a hamburger stand. When her father found out, he took the car away. The next day she was at the radio station complaining about it to the staff while The Beach Boys were visiting and they were inspired to write this song.

Why are people fighting about which is a better band, The Beatles or The Beach Boys? I mean, I personally prefer The Beatles, but The Beach Boys is still one of my all time favorites. By the way, both bands influenced each other. Rubber Soul inspired Pet Sounds and Pet Sounds inspired Sgt. Pepper.

That's Glen Campbell playing the intro to Fun, Fun, Fun.

Chuck Berry is credited for Surfin' USA, so they must have changed that after the fact, but I never heard about them getting sued. I always saw that song credited to Chuck.

Credit was given to Chuck Berry after he claimed the melody was his, so with that said, it's either give credit, or get sued HA. That is enviable. If I don't miss my guess, you probably like a lot of different types of music unlike most people, which includes me, I had just made 10 when this song came out. I disliked the idea of the Beatles until 69's Here Comes the Sun. Liberalism, drugs, and the stupidly-fought Vietnam War radically changed America in a few short years. We went from Fun, Fun, Fun to the weird Sgt. Pepper's album, which I still dislike except for Ringo's With a Little Help.
