  • to think that we can watch this online 41 years later is beyond incredible. thank you.

  • I think Cher was really pretty when she was young, before she had anything done to her face or teeth. So she wasn't perfect, but she was still very pretty. I liked her voice better when she was younger, too.

  • SHE IS NOOOOOT NATIVE AMERICAN. CHER SARKISIAN IS ARMENIAN!

  • @hamburgen

yep, she certainly is and it cracks me up when people continue to mention her droplet of Native American blood, versus her Armenian last name and looks!

  • @hamburgen

Yes she is half Armenian, her father was Armenian. But her mother is German mostly, with a tiny bit of Irish, and Native American. Cher's maternal grandma Linda had some Native blood, but not a lot.

  • I always liked Sonny and Cher and their tv show.Today, they would not make it on "America's Got Talent." If you think back to that (our) era, a lot of stars would not have progressed, think about it! Rod Stewart did not sing that great and some others also.............

  • This is great. The year was 1970 and Cher just had Chasity. Sonny and Cher was probably the happiest at this time.

  • Love that her hair is still nearly that long today. One of the best around. Love you Cher!

  • thank you for posting this! it's a nice, simpler version from the souped-up Foxy Lady album one. Sonny wrote some of the most interesting songs for her.

  • wich year was this???

    it's great

  • Wow. I remember taping this song onto my little portable cassette player back when this show first aired. I had started to like Sonny and Cher just when they lost popularity the first time and was so thrilled to see her on a network show. I think they do 'All I Really Want to Do", but I'm not sure.

  • Dontgupt208, No, it was never a hit. Never made the charts. Just a cut on Cher's Foxy Lady album.

  • She put this song on her Foxy Lady album, 1972-73 sometime.

  • Also true, but that is a NEW version, not this one. This is the 1970 version. And this performance was NOT live by the way; they just play the studio recorded song.

  • yeah that's what I meant!!!! this is the 1969 version, not the 1972 Foxy lady version

  • I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure this was just a single and it wasn't released on a album. It came out in 1970 and the only two albums Cher had around that time was 3614 Jackson Highway and Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves, it wasn't on either one .

  • You are very right. It was released as a single in 1970, and should have been on a new album that was due to come out in 1970 on ATCO, but that ot cancelled. Please check out the limited edition cd-release of 3614 Jackson Highway from 2001, it has that entire "cancelled album" as bonustracks, including The First Time!

  • glen campbell (host, for you youngsters) had a summer variety show in 1968 then went full time 69-72. this was probably about 71, thats when Cher started off on her solo career

  • BEAUTIFUL! its obvious she was going through the transition sonny and cher- CHER here! her right eye looks weird as she sings here...

  • Cher is amazing!!!, Someone can u tellme the year of this video?

  • She is the most complete singer in the world!

    LOVE YOU, CHER!

  • Don't know about she flerting with Glen Campbell but they would have had beautiful exotic children with her ethnic native american dark looks and his anglo blond looks.. great combination of genes..

  • It was strictly flirting in the studio to tick off Sonny whom Cher was spatting with at the time. Glen already had 3 kids with 2 different women by 1963. Anyway, Cher had a child with Allman who has similar, "blonde anglo" looks as you put it. The Cher/Glen flirtations were simply that. Glen was a major womanizer with children from a variety of different women.

  • @SS421982 No disrespect to Glen, as he's now going through a major health issue. Our past is what it is, but Glen was a major contributor to much of the sound of the 60's as a session player. Not to mention his own historic career as a solo artist.

  • So if this is 1969, she is 23 years old, which is about the same age as alot of the talentless people on American Idol. Sonny had enough experience in the business that he knew raw talent when he saw it. He was the Simon Cowell of his day (except without the attitude).

  • hermithorn I agree w/u 100%

  • I think vintage Cher is the best. Her teeth and nose weren't fixed and she her talent was so raw. The stars today are too concerned with being cookie cutter images of "perfection" and their talent is questionable.

  • I agree, but man what a long way from Vegas lol

  • What show and what year is this from? great clip

  • This was my favorite from her album. Haven't heard it in years!!! Thanks much.

  • Yes...and ironically enough Glen was married to a 16 year old at the time. I often wonder what Cher thinks of many things, including the whole Spector/Lana Clarkson murder case. She was around Phil enough to know what a nut he was. Phil will be dead before his next trail begins at this rate.

  • stunning cher!

  • This is why I fear sex before marriage. That's sad. :( Defintely waiting.

  • Cher did this while on break from recording her "3614 Jackson Highway" album in 1969.

  • WOW this is gorgeous! I love this song (i prefer her 1972 version though, it's a little better than this 1969 version) It's only too bad that she lyp-synched to it here. Other than that; LOVE IT! Cher is classic!

  • WONDERFUL! THANK You!!

  • Nice never seen this one before xx

  • I like the way she sang this song. Not too stylized. Simple but very pleasing.

  • Wow!!!!! Cher is All! Ever, Ever And Ever!!!

Thank You So Much For Posting This...

  • Cher was georgeous here. Love that Victorian style dress. These videos are great. Thanks for posting them so we can all enjoy.

  • Thank You...that saved me some time LOL.

  • @SS421982 Thank you for this video. How have you been?

  • They were following this with "ALL I REALLY WANT TO DO" which is on youtube elsewhere.
