you have to be joking. all this using the ball of your foot bullshit and not even following through. a real fight is nothing like a demonstration. i did tae kwon do for 2 years until i realised i was wasting my time. do kickboxing or muay thai.
Don't bend your knee.. It's much stronger if you use the weight of your body. Rotation is everything in a kick. If you bend your leg, and snap it out, you lose power.
@ArutusXSokrati The rotation generates proper motion of mass, however the addition of the knee snapping motion allows you to accelerate without disturbing the motion of the mass, thus accelerating the mass at the moment of impact. Force= Mass x Acceleration!!
Your thinking about a very Muay Thai based form of kicking though, this is a snap kick... its just a different approach... and also is very devastating.
@ArutusXSokrati But gain speed and accuracy. Muay Thai style kicks are strong, but slow and clumsy. And if you miss it's a very bad position to be in. I train in Karate and spar Muay Thai fighters all the time in MMA, Both kicks have their own advantages and disadvantages!!
@Mistabutts false... plus muay thai kick if you miss you should end up in the stance you started in... You need to master both round kicks and round house kicks...
i mean seriously even i do kyokushin and you cant deny the speed and power of the muay thai round house used over and over by the legendary Kenji midori...
Haven't really read the comments but best part of the foot ive found through experiance - is the ball of the foot. Toes right back and smash their ribs/chest plate. - ive actually used this in a real situation and can say - works really well. lol.
@ahumanweaponvideo can you do a demo on a pig carcass please? tiles do not have the same physiological properties as bone, nor are tiles backed by muscle or covered in tissue. I enjoy your vids and approach, its nice to see tkd (?) being used as it was created, rather than the sport approach.
i dont get this my taekwondo teacher tells me to use my shin or if i was wearing shoes... the laces... but the guy seems kinda stupid but i think it makes sense... any tips?
my instructor is stupid... he also says you keep your stance very wide...and thats stupid.. maybe not for competitions cause there are rules but ik in the street its different.
AT LAST someone has actually posted the correct way to do the taekwondo roundhouse kick. all i can find on youtube is the shitty sport way of doing it. where they just bring the knee straight up in line with the opponent then pivot and flick the leg out. instead of the proper way of doing it as show in your vidoe. mark you are the man thank you!
Well you actually hit the object with the front of the bottom part of your foot so your not hitting it with your toes. It has a smaller surface area so its going to do more concentrated damage of course that is if you train correctly and properly first.
Ok first listen to what i said!! i say kicking someone in the sternum. How will you kick some one with the shin in the solar plexis or sternum???The only target you have is your opponents side, head or legs with shin kicks but hey your right a few people think differently but i guess the world is flat hey?
you really should watch that video he says to watch. i saw it a few weeks ago and have since adapted my technique. of course there is always a place for the ball of the foot but its a precise strike. you can exert a shit tonne more power into a strike that doesn't need to be as accurate by utilising the shin. I would also like to see you land a ball of the foot kick effectivly to the neck or head. instep is always gonna be a more applicable weapon there.
i didn't know that the shin is more solid and hard than the ball of the foot! God should have put our shins on our feet so that the harder surface is toucing the ground with every step we take since birth.. oh s**t, i forgot, you're talking bo**ocks! The ball of the foot will always be tougher and more adatable to being hardened because you are forging it from birth, as did your father, your grand father, your great grand father x 30 did!! Soccer players wear protective shin pads.. i wonder why.
because soccer players arent fighters. everyone in the whole world wears shoes...i wonder why. not trying to be a dick or anything but i think that the shin being one solid bone would be harder to injure then the ball of the foot wich is a bunch of tiny bones. but its ur call
@mikebarros6 This kick is devastatingly effective with shoes on. more so than with the bare foot. Wear sneakers and try to pull up your toes. It still works.
@mikebarros6 just type in the following three words in youtube to see this point going very wrong " jasplay shin break "
i think i understand the logic behind the thought that one solid bone was made for the job, but thousands of years of evolution (or adaptation for all the religious out there),.leads to your foot being designed to take shock after after shock after shock of running, JUMPING,.. . walking.. Walk bare foot as a modern man today,.. see how long it takes to harden..Not long!
How about this you go kick a wall with your shin and ill kick with the ball of of my foot and well see who last longer. You only have too look breifly around youtube to see the videos of MMA/kickboxing guys who snap their own legs in half with their kicks. Check you basic human anatomy. The ball of the foot is designed to take massive explosive force from this angle from falling/running/jumping the shin is designed to take force directly down its length not across it.
does a crash test dummy have a solar plexus and floating ribs? or a pubic bone? This is a hammer technique and it will collapse your chest if the ball of foot is used with the right direction of force.
Kungfufreddy, what is a right way to kick? A kick can be done with the knees, shins, instep, balls of feet, heel, knife edge... there are many variations, and just because it is not your style doesn't make it wrong...

master robert howard in ireland, under gen choi.I left around 1997 after getting into wrestling ,bjj and thai and getting my ass handed to me on a regular basis under full contact conditions.I got better in 1 year of this training than the previous 17.
analogies and metaphors are cute, but your humble opinion has absolutely nothing to do with the bio physics of the matter, nor the bone density conditioning. The dozens of small bones in the foot, and pliable structures do not support the kinetic energy transer the shin does; regardless of the small difference in regards to the length of the lever. In short your foot will break before the shin will. Once again this is not opinion this is a scientific fact.
This is not a fact it is something you feel is correct frm what you know. What is interesting for me is that when i do heavy breaking with hands or feet i have some bruising either half way up my forearm when with hand and shin pain when with feet so i believe from my own personal experience that the foot or hand will be better than forearm or shin but would like some links to info stateing that the shin is stronger than the foot, if you could forward some to me it would be apreciated
you want maximum power? Study Muay Thai. Thai kicks are far more powerful than any leg technique out of Japan or Korea. That is not just my opinion, that is proven scientific fact.
Sorry your facts are incorect! Next time you hammer in nails use the neck not the head see the difference! Its not public fault just millions of bad practitioners doing bad TKD
Mate ive been kicking people and other materials for over 25 yrs i have more than enough proof of how to kick.. and what does and doesnt work. If i kick someone the only thing getting injured is them. dont confuse what i do with the silly sport shit youve been seeing the past 15 yrs! What i do works and will save your life if needed
I don't know either one of you, but there are some different variations on the roundhouse kick. You can use the ball, the instep, or the shin. To kick the body you get the best penetration with the ball. The guy is not going to get hurt? He just kicked tiles and didn't get hurt? Tiles are a lot more challenging in regards to "hardness" than a stomach or sternum? Why does he need to take Muay Thai? The Korean Kicking arts are the widely known as best kickers in the world. (facts are facts)
Hey, I was wondering if you had any tips on pulling the toes back. My toes don't naturally pull back very far, so it's harder for me to use the ball of my foot. What are some things I could do to train my toes to pull back further?
rainonthesidewalk - this is the original military Tae Kwon-Do , you don't see this really much anymore, just ballet dancers doing rubbish techniques for points in competition, and that means cutting corners to attain maximum speed but with minimum effect for damage, ie faster does not mean more powerful if you use the wrong attacking area with this tech. the top side of the foot will smash to pieces if you use a sports turning kick in the street.. only the one demo'ed here will do!!
I filmed Mark back in last year, and I think the point of these films here it to show the techniques that people cant be bothered to learn anymore, the real deal. No cutting corners here. This is hard to do correctly, but from what I saw last year, someone who practises everyday makes it look so easy! I understand engineering is behind this.
damn you can kick fast i just started tkd and right now im mainly focusing on stretching when i get to the point where i can do splits with no strain ill start my real training
Nice but with a simple knee or elbow block you can end up breaking all those little tiny bones in the foot the Tibia is a much stonger bone to take the force of the kick. Even if you get a clean kick to the side of the head you can still damage your foot as well. Clay tiles are no substitute try kicking a bowling ball that way and you will know how it feels to perform that kick to someones head
someone's head will cave in. a bowling ball does not have fluid inside of it. the kick is performed with all the toes tucked back, the foot is forged for years. the ball of the foot is like a hammer head, the tibia is a wooden stick, yeah it'll hurt, yeah it'll knock you out, but it won't kill you.
you need to see someone being kicked by a round house with the ball of the foot! it's like watching someone swinging a ball and chain into a rib cage, then you might think, "can a shin do that?" No it so can not, because the surface are of the shin will never be able to focus the force onto such a small area as the ball of a foot! nasty!
try breaking the same amount of materials with the shin as the ball of the foot.
the foot you are talking about is an unconditioned one from when you are born. take a look at a conditioned foot, it will smash so much more, it has smaller surface area, even the knee cannot do this as the rotation force cannot be sped to finish in the same way. This kick is like swinging a ball and chain with all your body mass and weight behind it.Kawack!
mouapker1 - so repeat this proper tkd kick (not like those basterdised kicks the world sees now from FALSE tkd) and throw some real side destroying kicks in there and a few inward travelling knife hand strikes to the neck. Someone's got to apply this amazing art to the cage and show the world what used to be common knowledge, tkd was a military art of the battlefield
Hey, nice technique, im part of the ITF in the UK going for my Blue Belt on the 8th of March hopefully, i was at a traing seminar with Master Kim who is part of the ITS committe he did a demonstration of a turning kick into some tiles like you, was so amazing, i love this kick very precise very powerfull, oh and Dreadhavok listen to the man hes not saying you would use it in a real fight not that you couldnt,
No your not kicking wrong just not making as much power into a small target as you could. The reason mny people use the shin and instep is that you dont need to be so pesice but as i said will not cause as much damage.keep training and never fail to question techs your shown ,it the way to be the best you can be
Love reading the "haters" that cant see the logic in the move...."oooo what if he's infront of you"....then dont use this move haha. Some people *rolls eyes*
plese sho me video of this actually wrking in a practical fight or a match..if u cant post a video of yourself doing it cuz this seems highly useless...meaning u can do alot more efficient techniques than this one
i agree we have many more techs 3199 more infact. But this is a clip showing how to kick with the ball of the foot nothing mopre so to start down the path of this is better than that im not interested, if you get any thing from the clip its all good if you didnt oh well it takes all kinds
wat a great kick..how the hell would u do that if the opponent/enemy stands completely infront of u with their hands up and not to the side/angle with hands down
ok what your saying is the guy is stood infront with a good gaurd?? well untill he makes a move to attacker is no threat! When they attack you sidestep putting the target at 45° but if the gaurd is still up kick lower on the body
what move would the guy have to do for someone to side step so far back??? it be very risky if u can pull it off cuz ur leg is going straight into someones hands to catch and throw u....the only intance i see this working is in wtf tae kwon do...if someone came at me, id move to the side and hook them but the opportunity always varies but i doubt sometin like this
dredhavok: read the comment i made in reply!! as you shift to the side you kick simultaneously at an open area, if someone can catch your kicks your to slow and to weak simple
Simple!? a move like that is never simple but it is very complex...it is the simple moves that r the most efficient/accurate in a fight...this is very complex cuz the chance of u landing one is very least and if u can you would have to spend alot of time mastering the move...mma/ufc/kickboxing(w/e u want to call it) is fighters taking simple techiques and mastering it..if this was a simple, u would c fighters use it
Actually, if he wanted maximum power he would have positioned himself to have higher rotation of the leg he is standing on. At the end of a roundhouse, the heel should be facing the opponent, meaning at least 180 degrees of rotation of the foot he is standing on. In this demonstration he only pivoted 90 degrees.
you are absolutely wrong!!! it is impossible to kick a target at 45° and turn your foot through. If you can do it show me please because in 26 yrs of training i have never seen a person with a rotary ankle and hip joint.Try to know what your talking about before you talk as it stops you looking dumb
Watch the film slow motion section again whilst clicking pause then play then pause then play and so on. Watch the leg Mark is stood on. Watch how it pivots to finish pivoting at the same time he drives his other foot through the tiles with the ball of his striking foot. You've just learnt something very powerful. Whether you like it or not? It is what it is. Why do you think we put tiles there? Because we couldn't find anyone to sign off to allow us to use their rib cage.
greg2anda - i repeat, watch the video slow replay section, mark's pivoting motion on the ball of his foot he is standing on peaks to completion at exactly the same time as his striking foot hits the target. The finish of the pivot at the point of impact is one of the reasons why this kick is so destructive at smashing. PS I'm the guy that's filming a one brick break next week. My fault for the 6 months delay, not Mark, come and see me
Who the hell are you to say that "flick kick" is the CORRECT way of round house kick?
It is pivoting, not chambering that brings the maximum power. Please stop preaching about your REALISTIC FIGHT TECHNIQUE BS already, you Mr. TRUE WARRIOR. Jeeeeez;
strange how you talk shit without listening to what was said on clip!! foot ball is used to break and cause max damage. The kick shown looks ficked because i did not want to put full power and go through and kick the holder in the face, its called a controlled kick.i see 1 warrior here thats you mr keyboard warrior
greg2anda & all other haters, look at the slowmotion rewind section of the film, you will see Marks striking tool (ball of foot) hitting the tiles at exactly the same time as he swivels on the ball of his foot that he is standing on. this is a destructive technique..and feet correct! BAM!
TKD has been in a position since 11/4/55 and as for other styles not having the ball of foot tech your wrong the arts do . If you never see it used doesnt mean a,it doesnt exist b, it does not work. stop winging on my clips and get out and see more training widen just your blinkered experience
Basically, your clip description reads as saying "using instep is wrong." Also, when you chamber, you cannot pivot as well.
Your breaking brick vid was hilarious enough, you Mr. Warrior. :) So, when the hell are you gonna show "one brick break?" You said you were gonna do it like, 6 month ago. Stop lying and get a life, loser. :b
If you do a one brick break, or do the kick with one brick, I will bow b4 you. Deal, Online vid-clip warrior? LOL
it is a joke that people continue to think that a sports technique is going to save their life in a combat situation rather than learn the military original, and perhaps get good at both, and use each one wisely as per it's design. 1 is for sports, 1 is for destroying. PS don't forget people, a correct turning kick must only be delivered to a target that is 45 degrees to your flank, not straight in front of you (0 degrees) like most sports rep vids! !
greg2anda - you cannot forge the instep of your foot to transmit the same amount of power to target as the ball of your foot, that is why years of evolution have created a tougher part to your foot, the underside, because you walk on it, and brittle little bones on the top of your foot to maneuver your toes. Even wearing shoes instep to tough surface could break your foot
Thank You for showing the correct way of the correct weapon area of this kick. When I began my Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do almost ten years ago this is how we were taught. Ever since then any other TKD school I visit or train at the instructors are always correcting my kick. I was told that I was taught wrong, Thank you for clearing this up!
You need to have your hands up to counter a punch when you throw a kick, and you would only kick with your toes in if you were breaking a board/tiles. Also, the chest is a poor place to kick someone. The stomach will bend them over/knock the wind out, kick to the head is a true fight ender
sory you are confusing a spar with a fight! also why kick to the head if you have working hands? chest is a very good place to kick if you trained to produce max power, also if you use the correct weapon anyplace is a target and will end a fight
Vnikoletlarson , u are absolutely right, the kick with that area isnt quite good but actually its applicaple after years of conditioning to the toes , like in okinawa karate.
anyway , incase u didnt notice the man in the video doesnt kick at the head level because his legs cant reach there , he has poor muscle stretch.
not correct about kicking in head because of flexibilty,, i state in clip its to damage sternum!! also it shows in experience or bad teaching that you imediatly think target the head
Nice technique, I like how you use your arms with the kick.
You mentioned damaging somebody's sternum, I've never heard anyone mentioning a strike to the sternum. I've done a little research and apparently sternum fractures are rare. But I don't know whether this is because the sternum is strong or whether it's just unlikely to have force applied there. I'm wondering if you can enlighten me to whether it's easy to break somebody's sternum with a kick or not.
yes if you practice to create maximum damage and have conditioned feet you can break the sternum, but remember if you dont practice even a basic front punch you will never get the maximum effect when useing it
The roundhouse with the ball of the foot seems to be dying out in modern martial arts practice. It's good to see that someone still knows how to do it and do it well.
and if you cant manage to kick that high, go for the ankle. knees. nerve in the thigh. if you cant curl your toes or you dont have boots, use your shin. you might get hurt a SLIGHT bit but the promise is your targets going to be a cripple. then wail away.
if only one person benefits from anything we post its all good if you posted constructive critisism then its all good to but to just talk shit because maybe its agains your teachings is a waste of everyones time,so come on mate say whats all so wrong with it
Thanks for posting it. I'm taking taekwondo and have been ondering if the power should come from the hip alone or hip and straighting of the leg. I now know that it is from both, so I am one peson that has benefited.
I've been following your comments fella and I think Mark shouldn't bother answering ur teenage digs anymore- ur clearly jealous of a man who appears to be marketing his life ability in the modern world, he's out to make a point vs that of sports also.. ps wrestle a man with a knife? Get lost idiot kick strike whatever you have to do to survive. to grab means u have to be close for an extended period of time
Thats correct with the demo of the break i did not want to follow through with the kick so it is held back hence you can see the hands going back, good observation
mark miller---ahumanweapon---- search these on you tube..look watch and listen, marl is bringing tkd back to how it should be!! it is a defensive art, a lethal defensive , then...and only then a sport. good work mark, mick would be proud of what you are doing.
awesome break dude, you make it look too easy, thats why there are so many haters thinking its fake or, you use special bricks!!!whatever they may be??????
and for all you haters yes that is how ez your ribs would break.....and thats a black belt technique..its not as ez as it looks..just elarned it today..

Sorry your facts are incorect! Next time you hammer in nails use the neck not the head see the difference! Its not public fault just millions of bad practitioners doing bad TKD

your going to get injured delivinring wiht the ball of your foot
chamber up your leg vertically while bent ine one fluid motion snap it forward and push in with your hips delivering with the bottom of your shin
kungfufreddy 3 years ago
Mate ive been kicking people and other materials for over 25 yrs i have more than enough proof of how to kick.. and what does and doesnt work. If i kick someone the only thing getting injured is them. dont confuse what i do with the silly sport shit youve been seeing the past 15 yrs! What i do works and will save your life if needed
ahumanweaponvideo 3 years ago
I don't know either one of you, but there are some different variations on the roundhouse kick. You can use the ball, the instep, or the shin. To kick the body you get the best penetration with the ball. The guy is not going to get hurt? He just kicked tiles and didn't get hurt? Tiles are a lot more challenging in regards to "hardness" than a stomach or sternum? Why does he need to take Muay Thai? The Korean Kicking arts are the widely known as best kickers in the world. (facts are facts)

wha are you black belt in ??
SelfProtection95 3 years ago
Hey, I was wondering if you had any tips on pulling the toes back. My toes don't naturally pull back very far, so it's harder for me to use the ball of my foot. What are some things I could do to train my toes to pull back further?
leavemealone2006 3 years ago
Hold the wall andkick at 45degrees it wont take long before you make your toes stay back!!
ahumanweaponvideo 3 years ago
This is very different from what I was taught. When we do a round house we use a knife foot. So I was wondering what style you use.
rainonthesidewalk 3 years ago
rainonthesidewalk - this is the original military Tae Kwon-Do , you don't see this really much anymore, just ballet dancers doing rubbish techniques for points in competition, and that means cutting corners to attain maximum speed but with minimum effect for damage, ie faster does not mean more powerful if you use the wrong attacking area with this tech. the top side of the foot will smash to pieces if you use a sports turning kick in the street.. only the one demo'ed here will do!!

Fuck it. Do a muay thai kick...

i know i sound like i dont know what im talking about but thats why you put these videos up right? to help beginners? thanks
xgoblinkingx 3 years ago
I filmed Mark back in last year, and I think the point of these films here it to show the techniques that people cant be bothered to learn anymore, the real deal. No cutting corners here. This is hard to do correctly, but from what I saw last year, someone who practises everyday makes it look so easy! I understand engineering is behind this.
laflavaproductions 3 years ago
damn you can kick fast i just started tkd and right now im mainly focusing on stretching when i get to the point where i can do splits with no strain ill start my real training
xgoblinkingx 3 years ago
Nice but with a simple knee or elbow block you can end up breaking all those little tiny bones in the foot the Tibia is a much stonger bone to take the force of the kick. Even if you get a clean kick to the side of the head you can still damage your foot as well. Clay tiles are no substitute try kicking a bowling ball that way and you will know how it feels to perform that kick to someones head
skyewalker 3 years ago
HAHA i have used it on somebody as i said body only an inexperienced or sport fighter would think of attacking only the head.
ahumanweaponvideo 3 years ago
i agree. that's why you train. and plus, if you wear shoes, no worries.
krns0cc3rb01 3 years ago
someone's head will cave in. a bowling ball does not have fluid inside of it. the kick is performed with all the toes tucked back, the foot is forged for years. the ball of the foot is like a hammer head, the tibia is a wooden stick, yeah it'll hurt, yeah it'll knock you out, but it won't kill you.
laflavaproductions 3 years ago
that kick is cool but i think muay thai got the best kicks out of all cause its hard and fast with a good posture.
mouapker1 4 years ago
you need to see someone being kicked by a round house with the ball of the foot! it's like watching someone swinging a ball and chain into a rib cage, then you might think, "can a shin do that?" No it so can not, because the surface are of the shin will never be able to focus the force onto such a small area as the ball of a foot! nasty!
misscandicotton 4 years ago 5
the ofrce is displayed in a different way.
Mucho more of the force that goes to the foot disappears cause of the joints and ligaments we have in the foot.
in thai boxing, all the force is given to our leg bone called tibia in spanish.
Seobis 4 years ago
You mean what exactly?? tibia is latin
ahumanweaponvideo 3 years ago
try breaking the same amount of materials with the shin as the ball of the foot.
the foot you are talking about is an unconditioned one from when you are born. take a look at a conditioned foot, it will smash so much more, it has smaller surface area, even the knee cannot do this as the rotation force cannot be sped to finish in the same way. This kick is like swinging a ball and chain with all your body mass and weight behind it.Kawack!
laflavaproductions 3 years ago
A thai kick is meant to cause superficial damage. To wear your opponent out using pain.
A kick like the one demonstrated here hurts inside. It breaks ribs, and explodes bladers and livers. It is meant to END a fight.
Thunderhouse2 3 years ago
superficial damage?¿ nono.
its like a baseball bat. tell your m8 to give you a baseball bat in your head or inthe ribs or in yout leg. then u tell me
Seobis 3 years ago
I have been a thai boxer, and I have taken enough shin kicks in my life to know they just wont do.
Thunderhouse2 3 years ago
mouapker1 - so repeat this proper tkd kick (not like those basterdised kicks the world sees now from FALSE tkd) and throw some real side destroying kicks in there and a few inward travelling knife hand strikes to the neck. Someone's got to apply this amazing art to the cage and show the world what used to be common knowledge, tkd was a military art of the battlefield

Hey, nice technique, im part of the ITF in the UK going for my Blue Belt on the 8th of March hopefully, i was at a traing seminar with Master Kim who is part of the ITS committe he did a demonstration of a turning kick into some tiles like you, was so amazing, i love this kick very precise very powerfull, oh and Dreadhavok listen to the man hes not saying you would use it in a real fight not that you couldnt,
nalaamma 4 years ago
I find it easier when kicking the side of the opponent to use the instep instead, or my shin.
I only use the ball of my foot for front snap kicks.
Am I doing it wrong? Because this is what my uncle taught me and he's been doing martial arts for 8 years now. haha.
GrimReaper993 4 years ago
No your not kicking wrong just not making as much power into a small target as you could. The reason mny people use the shin and instep is that you dont need to be so pesice but as i said will not cause as much damage.keep training and never fail to question techs your shown ,it the way to be the best you can be
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
great kick...personal favourite =D
Love reading the "haters" that cant see the logic in the move...."oooo what if he's infront of you"....then dont use this move haha. Some people *rolls eyes*

plese sho me video of this actually wrking in a practical fight or a match..if u cant post a video of yourself doing it cuz this seems highly useless...meaning u can do alot more efficient techniques than this one
dreadhavok 4 years ago
i agree we have many more techs 3199 more infact. But this is a clip showing how to kick with the ball of the foot nothing mopre so to start down the path of this is better than that im not interested, if you get any thing from the clip its all good if you didnt oh well it takes all kinds
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
wat a great kick..how the hell would u do that if the opponent/enemy stands completely infront of u with their hands up and not to the side/angle with hands down
dreadhavok 4 years ago
are you asking a question or talking jiberish?
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
oh srry..it was a question..youtube has taugt me to write jibberish, lol
dreadhavok 4 years ago
ok what your saying is the guy is stood infront with a good gaurd?? well untill he makes a move to attacker is no threat! When they attack you sidestep putting the target at 45° but if the gaurd is still up kick lower on the body
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
what move would the guy have to do for someone to side step so far back??? it be very risky if u can pull it off cuz ur leg is going straight into someones hands to catch and throw u....the only intance i see this working is in wtf tae kwon do...if someone came at me, id move to the side and hook them but the opportunity always varies but i doubt sometin like this
dreadhavok 4 years ago
dredhavok: read the comment i made in reply!! as you shift to the side you kick simultaneously at an open area, if someone can catch your kicks your to slow and to weak simple
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
Simple!? a move like that is never simple but it is very complex...it is the simple moves that r the most efficient/accurate in a fight...this is very complex cuz the chance of u landing one is very least and if u can you would have to spend alot of time mastering the move...mma/ufc/kickboxing(w/e u want to call it) is fighters taking simple techiques and mastering it..if this was a simple, u would c fighters use it
dreadhavok 4 years ago
Actually, if he wanted maximum power he would have positioned himself to have higher rotation of the leg he is standing on. At the end of a roundhouse, the heel should be facing the opponent, meaning at least 180 degrees of rotation of the foot he is standing on. In this demonstration he only pivoted 90 degrees.
rcfanatic 4 years ago
you are absolutely wrong!!! it is impossible to kick a target at 45° and turn your foot through.

Because we couldn't find anyone to sign off to allow us to use their rib cage.
laflavaproductions 4 years ago
greg2anda - i repeat, watch the video slow replay section, mark's pivoting motion on the ball of his foot he is standing on peaks to completion at exactly the same time as his striking foot hits the target. The finish of the pivot at the point of impact is one of the reasons why this kick is so destructive at smashing. PS I'm the guy that's filming a one brick break next week. My fault for the 6 months delay, not Mark, come and see me
laflavaproductions 4 years ago
.....what a joke.
greg2anda 4 years ago
what is a joke
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
Who the hell are you to say that "flick kick" is the CORRECT way of round house kick?
It is pivoting, not chambering that brings the maximum power. Please stop preaching about your REALISTIC FIGHT TECHNIQUE BS already, you Mr. TRUE WARRIOR. Jeeeeez;
greg2anda 4 years ago
strange how you talk shit without listening to what was said on clip!! foot ball is used to break and cause max damage. The kick shown looks ficked because i did not want to put full power and go through and kick the holder in the face, its called a controlled kick.i see 1 warrior here thats you mr keyboard warrior
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
greg2anda & all other haters, look at the slowmotion rewind section of the film, you will see Marks striking tool (ball of foot) hitting the tiles at exactly the same time as he swivels on the ball of his foot that he is standing on. this is a destructive technique..and feet correct! BAM!
laflavaproductions 4 years ago
Since when TKD is in position to say BS about using INSTEP as "sport technique?" You are showing off a freakin FLICK KICK
Do you think your TKD bs is supperior, more dealdy, whatever than Kyokushin, Muay Thai and other full contact styles?
greg2anda 4 years ago
TKD has been in a position since 11/4/55 and as for other styles not having the ball of foot tech your wrong the arts do . If you never see it used doesnt mean a,it doesnt exist b, it does not work. stop winging on my clips and get out and see more training widen just your blinkered experience
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
Basically, your clip description reads as saying "using instep is wrong." Also, when you chamber, you cannot pivot as well.
Your breaking brick vid was hilarious enough, you Mr. Warrior. :) So, when the hell are you gonna show "one brick break?" You said you were gonna do it like, 6 month ago. Stop lying and get a life, loser. :b
If you do a one brick break, or do the kick with one brick, I will bow b4 you. Deal, Online vid-clip warrior? LOL
greg2anda 4 years ago
greg2anda!! are you saying you cant pivot and chamber at the same time??? if so watch the clip
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
it is a joke that people continue to think that a sports technique is going to save their life in a combat situation rather than learn the military original, and perhaps get good at both, and use each one wisely as per it's design. 1 is for sports, 1 is for destroying. PS don't forget people, a correct turning kick must only be delivered to a target that is 45 degrees to your flank, not straight in front of you (0 degrees) like most sports rep vids! !
laflavaproductions 4 years ago
greg2anda - you cannot forge the instep of your foot to transmit the same amount of power to target as the ball of your foot, that is why years of evolution have created a tougher part to your foot, the underside, because you walk on it, and brittle little bones on the top of your foot to maneuver your toes. Even wearing shoes instep to tough surface could break your foot
laflavaproductions 4 years ago
Thank You for showing the correct way of the correct weapon area of this kick. When I began my Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do almost ten years ago this is how we were taught. Ever since then any other TKD school I visit or train at the instructors are always correcting my kick. I was told that I was taught wrong, Thank you for clearing this up!
northstarfist 4 years ago
You need to have your hands up to counter a punch when you throw a kick, and you would only kick with your toes in if you were breaking a board/tiles. Also, the chest is a poor place to kick someone. The stomach will bend them over/knock the wind out, kick to the head is a true fight ender
nikoletlarson 4 years ago
sory you are confusing a spar with a fight! also why kick to the head if you have working hands? chest is a very good place to kick if you trained to produce max power, also if you use the correct weapon anyplace is a target and will end a fight
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
Vnikoletlarson , u are absolutely right, the kick with that area isnt quite good but actually its applicaple after years of conditioning to the toes , like in okinawa karate.
anyway , incase u didnt notice the man in the video doesnt kick at the head level because his legs cant reach there , he has poor muscle stretch.
ahmednabil 4 years ago
not correct about kicking in head because of flexibilty,, i state in clip its to damage sternum!! also it shows in experience or bad teaching that you imediatly think target the head
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
Nice technique, I like how you use your arms with the kick.
You mentioned damaging somebody's sternum, I've never heard anyone mentioning a strike to the sternum. I've done a little research and apparently sternum fractures are rare. But I don't know whether this is because the sternum is strong or whether it's just unlikely to have force applied there. I'm wondering if you can enlighten me to whether it's easy to break somebody's sternum with a kick or not.
Thanks for the video.
Herbyy 4 years ago
yes if you practice to create maximum damage and have conditioned feet you can break the sternum, but remember if you dont practice even a basic front punch you will never get the maximum effect when useing it
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
I have a question. How to kick when you have shoes on? You can't use the ball of the foot because of the shoe. Use the in-step or the big toe?
Hotora86 4 years ago
yes in shoes or military boots you cant bend the toes to use the ball so end of boot or instep can be used
ahumanweaponvideo 4 years ago
The roundhouse with the ball of the foot seems to be dying out in modern martial arts practice. It's good to see that someone still knows how to do it and do it well.

and if you cant manage to kick that high, go for the ankle. knees. nerve in the thigh. if you cant curl your toes or you dont have boots, use your shin. you might get hurt a SLIGHT bit but the promise is your targets going to be a cripple. then wail away.
