Yup, same with me and many others who played back in the days. He is so easy nowadays though, just armor up and bring full candy, herbs, and cup of wishes. I got stuck on other bosses too as a kid. Fire Gigas, Hydra, Doom Wall, Vampire, Blue Spike, Aegagropilon, and Dragon Worm. Then the Mana Beast was tricky to figure out. Many often comment that they got to the end of the game and never beat him.
