im confused. im purchasing a macbook pro soon and i don't understand if we can install office programme like microsoft word, excel, etc. in the macbook. can we or can we not?
Hey there how do you deactivate Microsoft Office 2008 and install it on another computer? as I have upgraded one of my 3 mac computers and I want to install that program on my new mac
Apple does have Word, just goodle Word 2008 for Mac. You can buy it anywhere online, or even at an Apple store. If you are a student, some participating colleges offer the program at discount price.
@EpiCPeTwARsFaN Just to inform you. If you had purchased a PC it wouldn't have included Microsoft either unless you paid for it. You always need to pay to have that suite installed into your computer. With that said, go to the microsoft web site and search for Word 2008. You can also look into iWork which has programs that do the same as word, excel, and powerpoint called pages, numbers, and keynote. Have fun with your new Mac.
I just decided to steal '08 off the internet. I only wanted it in the first place so I could easily open those stupid .docx files. When I played around on word, I noticed that it "works" better than the mac 2004 version. It does take about 7 seconds to start up, but that's not a problem for me. As long as it works and is stable. That's all I care about. It does suck balls, though, that there is no equation editor like in office '07.
I did find it today when I opened up the main microsoft office folder and there it was :-). But I'm kinda disappointed in it though. I played around with Maple 13 and it works a lot faster for typing up long equations, like for calculus classes. There's a torrent for it on Piratebay. Maple's software is a LOT more intuitive for typing up equations and inserting symbols. You should give it a try if you ever need to type up math problems.
Mines open up the same way, I've been wondering for a while on how to make it apart of the document at the top, i've just given up. Have you figured it out yet?
Every one of the MS Office for the Mac apps 2008 is a fucking joke. It takes them FOREVER to start up. You'd think it was 1988! And then all of the features have been rearranged to take up MORE window space with palettes that automatically open and close required MORE fucking around just to change alignment, etc. RIDICULOUS.
Oh, and then the coversion programs on other machines don't work right either.
Leave it to Microsoft. They're brilliant, as usual.
Hear Hear! I tried installing vmware fusion and installed xp. I removed xp from my computer within 3 hours after I installed it. It's terrible bullshit. No one in their right mind should EVER use the winBLOWS operating system. Mac users have to use their software because it's monopolized at school and at work.
I was just messing around the other day and decided to put fusion and xp on b/c I was bored. I already knew that my computer wouldn't be powerful enough to run it anyway. But it was worth a shot though :-). I think that if you have a computer with 4 GB of RAM and a good processor, fusion should work just fine.
DO YOU SUGGEST WHEN I BUY MY MAC TO GET MICROSOFT OFFICE:MAC 2008? CAUSE IM IN SCHOOL, WILL IT BE USEFUL, I WILL ALSO BE GETTING iWORK 2009, WILL THAT BE GOOD FOR SCHOOL OR NO? THANKS GUYS!
You can run it using CrossOver for Mac or by installing a virtual machine of windows and installing it there. Or you can buy Mac native versions of Office.
Only if you have vmware fusion and are running windows OS simultaneously with the OS X. Or If you partition your hard drive and run 2007 on the Windows side.
microsoft word is a waist of money get neo office are open office there free and have every thing that microsoft word has it is a fucking lie that you need microsoft ooffice and word microsoft lies all you need is iwork and neo office are open office
Get Office 2008 from any torrent site and just so that nobody else asks me about the serials, here they are: MCX6K-J8YQP-CGMTM-X3XQ8-K6KDY RMG8D-KP8WT-DBCDV-QVRD2-V3WQY QYGR3-CJWQM-9HK4T-WX32G-F7XVM VTJG8-94R7P-RTQVT-8CK98-79THM J3JT3-8J2PM-VMYD8-8WT9X-BCM7M XH4P8-PQ2KW-JDM9P-YW2BV-PCF3Y TTTCG-JRGVX-R3J29-2XRG2-GP6BB DV4XH-WWB2F-9BGX2-WR82D-JGWBB PQRFY-VCW3V-8MBF4-2H8Y8-KDBBB FR7YV-P38TR-83V4C-G2RXD-VTF3Y On each line there's a serial, cheers! :)
I bought iWork though, it doesn't have any compatibility issues as long as you save it as a .doc file, which is really easy. Plus most PCs don't support Lucida Grande, which is a font I like on Mac... so no difference if I use Word or Pages, and I like Pages better :D
lol when the video started out with a car...i thought wtf? I thought this was an office review. Haha
On the conversion stuff. I have Office'08 (mac). i found in my group assignments that if i saved it in its default format .docx Some of the group couldn't open it on their PC's. I think they had Office'03 or something. Basically i had to remember save my word docs as .doc to ensure that my other group members were actually abe to open the document. I had no issues with documents sent to me :)
I have Office 2008 and NeoOffice. I do like NeoOffice simple documents but I ever want to type something fancy I'll use the awesome templates in 2008. For someone just needing to type simple documents just use NeoOffice. It even has a recovery if it crashes. Oh and I almost forgot I opened a Excel file in Neo that Office 2008 wouldn't open.
I don't think there is really much use to the formatting pallete, you can get the formatting toolbar by going to View<Toolbars<Formatting and it's better if you have the toolbar cause then you don't have to have another window open for the pallete
what do you think of iworks 08? and neo office.. i dont have a mac yet, but when i buy one, i wanna have a office program, and i think that microsoft office is expensive
I have used all on my Mac but the problem with iWork is the "lame" interface and it lacks some features, NeoOffice is good but it has some bugs and will occasionally crash unexpectedly. Office 2008 is the best from all in my opinion, when it first came out it was kinda like a Beta because it had some bugs and errors but they released an update that fixes everything and you don't have to pay these days *ahem* *torrents* lol, I have the serials and the dmg file for Office 2008 if anyone wants it
NeoOffice is a good choice and completely free. It's a port of OpenOffice to Java. Original OpenOffice is still not as good on Mac OS X but you can download OpenOffice and start to get used to it. :-)
But I'm going to purchase iWork, too. Sometimes... When I'm about making a stunning slide show. :-)
No, Apple was the one that copied that, the formatting palette was available in Office 2004, Pages was made in 2005, I am an Apple fan but I don't think productivity is a potential market for Apple to be in :| (they should stay with multimedia)
lol...my mistake...however, I am still more inclined to use Pages. It might seem like general Apple speak but I do feel that Pages is simpler to use than MS Word! :)
