    Will it be free?

Please help i'm no computer genius!

  • @EpiCPeTwARsFaN

Apple does have Word, just goodle Word 2008 for Mac. You can buy it anywhere online, or even at an Apple store. If you are a student, some participating colleges offer the program at discount price.

  • on youtube look up mac office word 08 for free. all u do is download it and use the free code lol

  • @EpiCPeTwARsFaN you can't get it for free u need to buy it

  • @EpiCPeTwARsFaN Just to inform you. If you had purchased a PC it wouldn't have included Microsoft either unless you paid for it. You always need to pay to have that suite installed into your computer. With that said, go to the microsoft web site and search for Word 2008. You can also look into iWork which has programs that do the same as word, excel, and powerpoint called pages, numbers, and keynote. Have fun with your new Mac.

  • @EpiCPeTwARsFaN you have to buy it.

  • @EpiCPeTwARsFaN pls im in the same boat did u find out how?

  • How do you group things like text boxes on word 2008 for mac?

  • After while you realise that word does work well.

  • I just decided to steal '08 off the internet. I only wanted it in the first place so I could easily open those stupid .docx files. When I played around on word, I noticed that it "works" better than the mac 2004 version. It does take about 7 seconds to start up, but that's not a problem for me. As long as it works and is stable. That's all I care about. It does suck balls, though, that there is no equation editor like in office '07.

  • U do hv a equation editor in office 2008.. I use it regularly.. Its placed in ur applicatios folder.. Try srchin for it in spotlight..

  • I did find it today when I opened up the main microsoft office folder and there it was :-). But I'm kinda disappointed in it though. I played around with Maple 13 and it works a lot faster for typing up long equations, like for calculus classes. There's a torrent for it on Piratebay. Maple's software is a LOT more intuitive for typing up equations and inserting symbols. You should give it a try if you ever need to type up math problems.

  • Mines open up the same way, I've been wondering for a while on how to make it apart of the document at the top, i've just given up. Have you figured it out yet?

  • Every one of the MS Office for the Mac apps 2008 is a fucking joke. It takes them FOREVER to start up. You'd think it was 1988! And then all of the features have been rearranged to take up MORE window space with palettes that automatically open and close required MORE fucking around just to change alignment, etc. RIDICULOUS.

Oh, and then the coversion programs on other machines don't work right either.

Leave it to Microsoft. They're brilliant, as usual.

  • Hear Hear! I tried installing vmware fusion and installed xp. I removed xp from my computer within 3 hours after I installed it. It's terrible bullshit. No one in their right mind should EVER use the winBLOWS operating system. Mac users have to use their software because it's monopolized at school and at work.

  • Hey.. Use parallells desktop.. I use tht n it works brilliant.. No issues at all..

  • I was just messing around the other day and decided to put fusion and xp on b/c I was bored. I already knew that my computer wouldn't be powerful enough to run it anyway. But it was worth a shot though :-). I think that if you have a computer with 4 GB of RAM and a good processor, fusion should work just fine.

  • why use xp why not use windows 7

  • Look at how old my comment is dude... was Windows 7 around 2 months ago?!!!

  • This is more like an Overview

  • I think it's hilarious that there is Windows stuff for Macs (like this and that boot camp thing).

  • Why is that funny? There is apple products for Windows such as iTunes and Quicktime. What makes Windows stuff for Mac funny?

  • Neo Office is good too!

  • i use powerpoint everyday can u do a pro review of the macintosh version?

  • how do you make it just like microsoft word?

  • DO YOU SUGGEST WHEN I BUY MY MAC TO GET MICROSOFT OFFICE:MAC 2008? CAUSE IM IN SCHOOL, WILL IT BE USEFUL, I WILL ALSO BE GETTING iWORK 2009, WILL THAT BE GOOD FOR SCHOOL OR NO? THANKS GUYS!

  • jon, i cant re-open any saved files from any of my microsoft for word programs.

I cant put them on any other computer, mac or pc and i have installed it at leased 3 times ahhh

  • How do I make frames in this program???

  • how do you do full justification

  • how do you turn the page sideways???

  • Have you had issues with crashes?

  • I noticed that when Jon clicks his mouse, he has a little ring emitting from around the mouse pointer. What app is it that does that?

  • It's from his video capturing app.

    It's either sreenflow or screenium.

  • this is freakin gayyy.. ill stick with 2007. [for sureee]

  • I'll stick with 2007 and wait for 2009 and see

  • cyber? check out muh profile and msg me on MSN!! 6

  • Apple should make their own kind of office application

  • ScionT2B, there is one it's called iwork.

  • thanks dude.

  • Thanks for making this video. It really helped. PS- iWork totally sucks!

  • can u add microsoft word 03 to a mac?

  • There is 04 but it's PPC.

  • You can run it using CrossOver for Mac or by installing a virtual machine of windows and installing it there. Or you can buy Mac native versions of Office.

  • getting this with leopard and ilife 08 motha fuckers!

  • im not gonna lie, i miss the ribbon!

  • i think iwork is better

  • how do you screen shot of your desktop on a mac

  • to take a screen shot hold down

    option + shift + 4

to take video like he did download screenium from the web (free)

  • Command+Shift+4

  • Hey jon dude when your making a movie how do u make the isight look at the screen like ur doing?

  • lol you tard its a program called screenium.

Rofl point the isight at the screen. Wow.

  • ur GAY

  • no. I just think it unbelievably hilarious that you seriously thought you could point a built in webcam at the screen and have it follow the cursor.

He is using a screen capture program. Do you know what that its???

    lol

  • real smart champ

  • aww leave him alone guys. I bet there was a ton of people wondering the same ting. Lighten up, not everyone is 1337.

  • How come when he clicks the red effect of the click shows up how do you get that?

  • I already have the 2007 Office for PC, can I run and use it on my new Macbook Pro?

  • Only if you have vmware fusion and are running windows OS simultaneously with the OS X. Or If you partition your hard drive and run 2007 on the Windows side.

  • do you ever use pages on iwork?

  • I don't use MAC but i hope to ...

it's not popular in my country and there is no programs for it ...

  • your wrong about apps.

    video: imovie, final cut

audio: garage band, logic, pro tools, cubase

productivity: office for mac 2008, iWork, Neooffice, Bean

dont forget things like coversutra, vlc, Toast, ilife, handbrake....

  • its better in leopard, there is much more effects in office 2008. runs great, better then windows version. congrats (only for this time) microsoft.

  • the windows version office 2007 has a better design I hate this

  • lol, I actually hate the 2007 version because the 2008 version is less bloated and things are easier to find making it more user friendly

  • i love how macs look, and this looks like a native mac programs. 2007 went wrong because they made it confusing by trying to make it simple.

  • Thank you soooooo much!!, andi have seen almost all of your videos and i think its great that you help people with thier questions

  • You are welcome, glad you like them!

  • microsoft word is a waist of money get neo office are open office there free and have every thing that microsoft word has it is a fucking lie that you need microsoft ooffice and word microsoft lies all you need is iwork and neo office are open office

  • Hey Jon are you using the purchased version of Screenium?

  • sure am

  • Why dont u talk about compatibility or sth more technical?

For example, I wanna know if I can open Office 2007 documents (e.g. .docx) or not.

Or how fast or easy this suite is compare to Office 2004 or iWork.

Something that can help me decide whether I should buy it or not.

You are showing us menus? What a worthless review.

  • don't be so rude! I'll answer any questions that you have :)

Yes, it uses the .docx format by default to save documents but it's also compatible with versions of Office from 1997 to 2004 aka .doc documents

  • thanks.

  • Just steal it off the internet. I can help if you'd like.

  • how can i download this for free i need to turn in an 2 essay monday help

  • Get Office 2008 from any torrent site and just so that nobody else asks me about the serials, here they are: MCX6K-J8YQP-CGMTM-X3XQ8-K6KDY RMG8D-KP8WT-DBCDV-QVRD2-V3WQY QYGR3-CJWQM-9HK4T-WX32G-F7XVM VTJG8-94R7P-RTQVT-8CK98-79THM J3JT3-8J2PM-VMYD8-8WT9X-BCM7M XH4P8-PQ2KW-JDM9P-YW2BV-PCF3Y TTTCG-JRGVX-R3J29-2XRG2-GP6BB DV4XH-WWB2F-9BGX2-WR82D-JGWBB PQRFY-VCW3V-8MBF4-2H8Y8-KDBBB FR7YV-P38TR-83V4C-G2RXD-VTF3Y On each line there's a serial, cheers! :)
  • are those serials works on microsoft office 2007?

  • nope, sorry. They use different serials :(

  • how utterly devious of you ;-)

  • @MacOSXrulez

does that even still work? lol to get a free microsoft office 2008?

  • @MacOSXrulez why don't you just buy it you cheapskate

  • Wow Office 2008 looks way better than 2004.

I bought iWork though, it doesn't have any compatibility issues as long as you save it as a .doc file, which is really easy. Plus most PCs don't support Lucida Grande, which is a font I like on Mac... so no difference if I use Word or Pages, and I like Pages better :D

  • i tried the micosoft office 2008 in beta test and full version did not like it, like the old layout.

doesn't jon4lakers have a baby face or, is it a sign of good living. :-)

  • In the beginning i was like..."what are we doing outside?" hhehe

  • at first i thought u were actually recording a car

  • Nice video. I'm still have Office 2003, but its good for me since I also have iWork 08.

  • lol when the video started out with a car...i thought wtf? I thought this was an office review. Haha

On the conversion stuff. I have Office'08 (mac). i found in my group assignments that if i saved it in its default format .docx Some of the group couldn't open it on their PC's. I think they had Office'03 or something. Basically i had to remember save my word docs as .doc to ensure that my other group members were actually abe to open the document. I had no issues with documents sent to me :)

  • I am just glad that Apple got rid of AppleWorks...that program was way too confusing!

  • i heard open office was pretty good as well

  • I have Office 2008 and NeoOffice. I do like NeoOffice simple documents but I ever want to type something fancy I'll use the awesome templates in 2008. For someone just needing to type simple documents just use NeoOffice. It even has a recovery if it crashes. Oh and I almost forgot I opened a Excel file in Neo that Office 2008 wouldn't open.

  • And for tables and borders you can go to View<Toolbars<Tables and Borders

  • I don't think there is really much use to the formatting pallete, you can get the formatting toolbar by going to View<Toolbars<Formatting and it's better if you have the toolbar cause then you don't have to have another window open for the pallete

  • yeah, somtimes having the pallete gets in the way and can be annoying. That's one thing that has sort of annoyed me with office on mac actually...

  • thats nice! i should get myself office 08 if i ever get a mac

  • what do you think of iworks 08? and neo office.. i dont have a mac yet, but when i buy one, i wanna have a office program, and i think that microsoft office is expensive

  • I have used all on my Mac but the problem with iWork is the "lame" interface and it lacks some features, NeoOffice is good but it has some bugs and will occasionally crash unexpectedly. Office 2008 is the best from all in my opinion, when it first came out it was kinda like a Beta because it had some bugs and errors but they released an update that fixes everything and you don't have to pay these days *ahem* *torrents* lol, I have the serials and the dmg file for Office 2008 if anyone wants it

  • u rly sending out free software?

  • if anyone wants Office yeah, I mean, why not help people out if they don't have the money to buy it?

  • NeoOffice is a good choice and completely free. It's a port of OpenOffice to Java. Original OpenOffice is still not as good on Mac OS X but you can download OpenOffice and start to get used to it. :-)

But I'm going to purchase iWork, too. Sometimes... When I'm about making a stunning slide show. :-)

  • i'm hooked

     on pages.

  • Formatting Palette is cool..a bit of a rip off of the Inspector in Apple's Pages though...

  • No, Apple was the one that copied that, the formatting palette was available in Office 2004, Pages was made in 2005, I am an Apple fan but I don't think productivity is a potential market for Apple to be in :| (they should stay with multimedia)

  • lol...my mistake...however, I am still more inclined to use Pages. It might seem like general Apple speak but I do feel that Pages is simpler to use than MS Word! :)

  • ok, everyone has different opinions :)

  • what software do you use to record things directly on the computer, for instance, not using your camera for a video like this.

  • can you do a review of excel and power point and what ever other features come with office for mac

  • Just wondering, do you have any criticisms of word/office 08? Has it ever glitched in anyway way?

  • what is that effect every time you click the mouse?

  • it's his screen capture program that makes those red circles

  • its part of his screen capture program called "screenium"

  • At the beggining of the video is that your car?

  • yup

  • didn't you already do this?

  • yes he did. not sure why he did it twice.

  • i use neooffice and its been great for me so far.

  • john i have a question, i've got microsoft office 2008, but ive tweaked it to my style, now how can i restore it to its default settings because all this that uve shown me i didnt even know i had!! so how can i restore to default? Thanks again, brlliant video!

  • Awesome video once again. I love you'r reviews they are so helpful. Thank you

  • Isn't there a publisher with office for mac?

  • Not to the best of my knowledge, I just use iWeb and print the stuff instead of putting it on the web.

  • You can change to a publisher mode when in word so it basically appears as publisher

  • Is it any good? I heard it was crap. Also, in Amazon the reviews are very poor for this product, hmmm

  • You might wanna take the "Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac" in the title and replace it with "Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac".

  • GREAT!!!!!!!! 5 Stars! John, i also have a question.

  • Another great video!

  • Thanks!

  • Another Great review jon, I am trying to get my videos up but my camera is being dumb. I already have 13 videos ready it is just being stubborn and not importing to my computer =/

  • Can't wait to see them Joe.

  • meh, it looks pretty good.

  • I'd use iWork, and I have office:mac. if you have to choose, iWork is the way to go. It's just a far superior, and much more stable suite. And you can export .doc and docX

  • sweet, first view.

    Great review.

I actually prefer the layout on the mac compared to the windows version
