@DMTfabric A band that made be cry like a baby because of cheer beauty of their songs (weight, garden of light) [...] of course it is Number FUCKING One! :D
most of these bands have nothing to do with sludge ... i suppose you could name it postsludge but still it's different music than the classic sludge metal...
@sapiopneumoni Yeah I know, but it's a common term today for bands that have heavy down tuned slow guitar riffs and growling. And Postmetal isn't really a good term either.
@MrSonicdestruction i cannot agree to 100%, i think generation of vipers is pretty much sludge, and omega massive doesn't use too much postrock elements and stays heavy all the time.
i don't think i heard any sludge on here. check out out goatsnake or electric wizard. that is sludge metal. and i know u don't like neurosis or pelican which is fine but neurosis practically invetnted post metal and pelican is pretty similar in style. i'm not dissing ur musical tastes, just saying :)
@Beelzebubbbbles pelican sucks, russian circles is more math and is in my "postrock" video, cult of luna just has not enough good songs, i cant even think of any good atm , a storm of light (have to check it out) jesu is "dronegaze" and not one of my favs, tides are okay, and no minsk for me, But i may add Io, Buried Inside, Year Of No Light and Kehlvin
@Quiestre We'll have to disagree on Pelican, "Mammoth" is one of my faves. Cult of Luna's "Somewhere along the Highway" is full of good songs, check out "Finland" in particular. "Carpe" by Russian Circles is pure post-metal, no hint of math there. Check out "Mass" by A Storm of Light, I think you'll like it. Jesu tend to record differently every time, but "Dead Eyes" is post, and brilliant. However, I was actually just teasing - 9 seemed such a small number for a genre that has such raw talent!
Nice video, But no Baroness??? either way, check out City of Ships, The Devil and the Sea, and Wildfires, the later two are local Louisiana bands, but they are awesome.....you may also like Torche, and Thou...and Deadbird, and Rwake
Nice video, But no Baroness??? either way, check out City of Ships, The Devil and the Sea, and Wildfires, the later two are local Louisiana bands, but they are awesome.....you may also like Torche, and Thou
Wow. Generation of Vipers are totally rad. So many awesome bands left out, though. Omega Massif is Post Rock, but still badass. Here's a few more to add to your list:
@swedishmetalupyours not really postmetal/sludge to me, and nope i saw them live and so on i like them for a long time but not anymore. they are just not that cool to me
Some great bands indeed. I really enjoy Omega Massif and Rosetta. I have to agree with neurotic4ever. Check out Neurosis. They're kind of the starting heads in this genre. Some more tips for you :P. Check out "Amenra" and "Sardonis" from Belgium!
as i said, i dont like neurosis, actually i dont like the singer, and i know amenra, was never blown away by it, but i'll check out sardonis thanks :)
What? No Neurosis? They are around for a long time and they started this all. Well it's all personal taste. People that dont know Neurosis should check them out. Really. You will thank me later.
Cult of luna is the shit I can't believe you don't like them xD my favorite song so far is Adrift, specially the interlude that starts at around 3 minutes into the song.
i am a red hot chili peppers fan and i like their psychedelic stuff.i also like smashing pumpkins.i know this doesn't even come close to sludge-post metal, but now i wanna listen 2 sth harder n heavier . any suggestions ?
@jimrhcp95 try tool, and isis, especially in the abscence of truth album from isis, and tool aenima and/or lateralus that's porbably the best things you can start with, and my favourite bands :)
@rh117 not really, CoL is like isis but just bad, i don't like his screaming nor the songstructures/melodies. and yeah thats pretty much why i did this video to show some new bands, especially cuz there is not much post-whatever besides posthardcore on youtube (changed a bit now but at the time i uploaded this video it wasnt really popular) you may also like Irreversible, Year of No Light or North
@Quiestre Mastodon was sludge but have kind moved more towards progressive metal in recent years. Either way good list, I agree with most of the selections!
wow this video exposed me to some cool sounding bands. i came here from a dystopia video. downoading ISIS now...thank you for making this video.

I agree with Omega Massif and Isis. I don't really like the others.
You should try Toundra if you like O-M, a spanish band.
They're some very good bands in France (I'm french ^^): check Time To Burn & As We Draw (more a hardcore band in fact... but great band).
