Lifes not the French Riviera-believe me Lifes not a charity ball. It isnt -all a great, big, bed of roses Its not like showbiz but the main thing I suppose is- Were- (we are not fake, believe me!) not the people you envy believe me. We- (we...are going to make it) know were doing okay! Okay -we may be less than wealthy, But better yet, Were young and healthy. And any--one whos young and healthy knows that thats the way - the traffic flows Its a living! :)

It would've been nicer if the 5 waitresses equation had returned for the syndicated seasons. I preferred 5 over 4-as more to look at and more character interactions amongst each other.
iguess by season 6 the producers thought they should add the "token black character" to the mix,But the girls are hot i would like mine naked on a plate, tastes like chicken and smells like french vanilla
Hey...did you notice at the very end the name "Tom Whedon" listed as producer? Yes, the father of JOSS WHEDON, the greatest writer/director on the planet, IMHO :-)
Thank you so much I remember this show from when I was a kid but couldn't remember the name of it. I have been lookin' for it for years and yes, they should put out a dvd set of it.
They should've kept it to always 5 waitresses during the entire run of the show but ABC/producers did major retooling for season 2;actors and actresses etc. (Susan Sullivan, Wendy Schaal and Bert Remsen all departing after the limited episode run of the season 1).
When they reran in syndication here in Chicago on Channel 50WPWR during the late 80's, the title "It's a Living" was retained for Season 2 episodes but when originally aired on ABC, Season 2 title was indeed changed to "Making a Living."
I used to tape them off the syndicated tv channels here in Chicago back then but I erased probably the ones I taped(I regret it now) to make room for other things that came along. Always thought they'll rerun them constantly but alas no one is showing them. "ME" tv start showing them.
This show lasted that long? Geez, I must of blanked it out. I do not even remember this show being for that many years. And how many times did that show change cast memebers. If it was on long enough it would of began with

The first season was better because there was 5 waitresses. When Louise Lasser was added for the second season it dropped to 4 and thereafter.

I love the opening, it's so over the top. Ms. Sheryl Lee Ralph was (and is) a hot mama. Thanks for posting this.

If you want this show on DVD, email service@wbshop.com.
I doubt it will ever get an official retail release, but Warner Broothers are slowly converting shows to their Manufacture-on-Demand DVD program.

I don't understand why TV Land won't air these lost 70's and 80's sitcoms but they will air Andy Griffith 6 times a day, 7 days a week!

@Edgehead10075 You got that right, and she went to have a recurring role in Season 6 of Full House which was still a Top 10 Hit during that time.
