I say the blue spirit was the spirit of a kapas. In thoery, I define a kapas in the avatar world as a water creature with superhuman balance, vicious in it's skills and the only way to save yourself is to make it bow to you in respect. Though if you want to know a real kapas, look it up.
A kapas, in general, is a mythical water creature that is said to be part monkey and part turtle. The only way to stun a kapas and save yourself is to make one bow down and spill water from it's bowl-like head. The definition above is one I thought up.

lol, if Zuko could have been as epic in his normal form as he was when he was the Blue Spirit, he'd have had the Avatar before the end of Book 1 =)

You know what's a good song for the Blue Spirit? Dead Skin Mask by Slayers. Try not to look at the band, it ruins it....
Trust me, give yourself a few days and listen to it, you'll get the idea.
