I agree in an ideal situation a child needs the input of both genders. However thru history this has not always been possible e.g WW1 WW2. Sadly, what I see is hetties - particularly men- having children but not actually caring for them. I attended a child protection seminar and the info was that mothers are most likely to abuse their own children: ranging from simple neglect to physical and emotional abuse ( sexual abuse was less likely).I never said that fathers and mothers are irrelevant. that's a pretty weak reason for prop 8. I've been to lots of weddings where they didn't say "bride" and "groom." If a gay couple goes down to city hall and gets married who cares? It will have absolutely no effect on, or de-value anyone elses marriage.

The terms Bride and Groom WERE banned; a well-publicized case involved a couple from Roseville, CA who had their marriage license denied because they wrote the words Bride and Groom next to Party A and Party B.
Just like the video said, now they won't reject your license if you write in Bride and Groom, but that was likely just a political move to prevent a backlash. The intent to redefine the societal understanding of marriage by destroying "old" concepts of matrimony was already quite clear.
Once again, i ask all TRUE Christians to realize how anti-christian and anti-american this legislation is. Then I suggest you research the implications of redefining marriage more closely. I doubt most feel comfortable teaching their chilren about gay sex. Why is that? I agree in an ideal situation a child needs the input of both genders. However thru history this has not always been possible e.g WW1 WW2. Sadly, what I see is hetties - particularly men- having children but not actually caring for them. Furthermore, present fathers reduce anti-social behavior and give girls the confidence to resist sexual advances. Also, reproduction is valuable and is thus an important differences. I attended a child protection seminar and the info was that mothers are most likely to abuse their own children: ranging from simple neglect to physical and emotional abuse ( sexual abuse was less likely).I never said that fathers and mothers are irrelevant. Hey,guys? The word "optional" means you can call the parties to the wedding anything you like. Including "bride" and "groom." Please get over this fear mongering and allow gay ppl the same right to be as miserable as the rest of us! ;)

that's a pretty weak reason for prop 8. I've been to lots of weddings where they didn't say "bride" and "groom." If a gay couple goes down to city hall and gets married who cares? It will have absolutely no effect on, or de-value anyone elses marriage.

I wish this video had begun at the end... that's where the truth can be found. You may choose what to call each party, be it party A, party B. groom or Bride. You see it was not a matter of the law, just local government protocol that can be changed back and forth. Amending the state constitution to redefine marriage as between a man and a woman cannot be so quickly remedied.

propaganda makes it look like hate but its not true.marriage is the corner stone of the society and we cannot risk bcause of a few people life's style. new laws will be made & those laws will take out the rights/freedom to other ppl. YES on prop 8 will protect traditional marriage same as society.

Stop trying to to say what traditional marriage and nature's laws are. the truth is traditional marriage is polygamy and treating a woman as property. As fro nature's law, i'm pretty sure most animals do it and leave or eat each other. I'm glad we not animals and i'm glad marriage has evolved intyo the wonderful thing it is today. an institution of love. Why do christians keep wanting it to be about sex?

It's just disappointing to see that the country that we look up to is now going down the drain.. America has brought my country, the Philippines, Protestantism where I found solace and faith in Christ, but it looks like the church in America is suffering too much.. And the fact that America is (or was) a Christian country.. Morality there is now neglected.. It's really disappointing.. Saying nay to Prop 8 just worsens the situation.. So please Christians, keep God's law.. It's His commandment..

Our country has never been better. not too long ago you would have faced discrimination for being a pacific islander in the US. today, our laws are meant to treat everyone equally. shame on you for trying to take away other people's rights like that. i suggest you take a trip up to manzanar and see how dangerous it is to mix morals and law.

What really gets old, is when the few try to impose the words, RIGHTS, FAIR, EQUAL, etc.
"MARRIAGE", has always been the union between a man and a woman. What they do is not Marriage and should never be called what it isn't. Just call it what it is. If anyone was to review any states laws 20 years ago or longer, you would see exactly what it was called, CORRECTLY...

The terms Bride and Groom WERE banned; a well-publicized case involved a couple from Roseville, CA who had their marriage license denied because they wrote the words Bride and Groom next to Party A and Party B.
Just like the video said, now they won't reject your license if you write in Bride and Groom, but that was likely just a political move to prevent a backlash. The intent to redefine the societal understanding of marriage by destroying "old" concepts of matrimony was already quite clear.

Once again, i ask all TRUE Christians to realize how anti-christian and anti-american this legislation is. Only god can pass judgement on others. there is only God's law. we are asking for trouble when we mix morals and politics. no one has the right answer, i don't pretend i do, but i wouldn't make a law that took anyone's rights away.

It is true that not to be judgmental but is there any verses in the bible to tell Christians have to follow sinners? Practice what they do? Adopt sinners' standard as their standard and put it into laws? Please don't mess up about "judgmental" and "disagreement". We don't judge people who smoke but we don't "agree" smoking at all. Prop 8 DO NOT take American rights away. It just keep "Marriage" as "a man and a woman" and "Domestic Partnership" as two consenting "same-sex" people.

"Marriage" is obviously enforced by "NATURE" and "same-sex" marriage is only enforced by "Man". As I said by definition, structure; function; purpose of the family, none of "Marriage" and "same-sex" marriage match. If anyone can redefine anything so easily, why are we still have to pay so much to go to College while knowledge is not knowledge anymore? The "Truth" is what the "Law of Nature" support and that's the base of knowledge.

Then I suggest you research the implications of redefining marriage more closely. When gay marriage is taught in schools without parents knowledge and/or consent, you take away the rights of the parents (research gay marriage in Massachusetts). Or what about the pastor in Denmark that was jailed for a month for preaching a sermon that included his belief that homosexuality was immoral. Or what about the right of every child to have a mother and a father?
Same-sex marriage does affect others.

Prop 8 is less government? its a constitution amendment that says who can do what. that sounds like more government to me.

If yes on 8 people are right, then this is clear grounds to abolish marriage as far as government is concerned. I don't even know many people at all that know what marriage means in a legal sense. We can keep calling this thing people keep doing called marriage and give it to everybody, or stop confusing the law with the bible and give every couple getting married the option of domestic partnership. Maybe 'marriage' is just too heated of a word to put in our laws. Separate church and state.

Over 11,000 gay couples have married since June 15, 2008. Please ask yourself these questions! Has your child or grandchild come home from school and said that they learned about gay marriage? Was your child taught about alcoholism and drug addition and decided to become a drug addict or alcoholic? No, they haven't. Ask yourself how this has affected your life! It hasn't! I love this argument. It's been 15 minutes and nothing has happened therefore nothing could ever possibly happen. Redefining an institution will not effect the current generation as much as it will effect those that follow.

He hates that "MARRIAGE" is the union of a man and a woman, and sure does seem intolerant of this. Oh ya, a FAMILY is formed by the Man and Woman relationship, not what you do, so we do have controlling interest in those words to.

Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman. I'm fine teaching my children about marraige, about sex with a spouse and how that creates children. I doubt most feel comfortable teaching their chilren about gay sex. Why is that? If you aren't comfortable teaching your children about this and advocating it as a right, then how can you possibly support gay marraige? Marraige between a man and a woman forms the basic family unit. Save marraige and VOTE YES on 8.
