  • I think you can c.MK, Hadoken, FADC once they're at the edge of the loop's range and then start the loop over again. Not sure how long that works but it'll certainly give you another trip 'round the horn. At the end of that, you'll have exhausted the damage scaling anyway so there's no point to go further, I assume.

  • @nekosama23 You can't combo a raging demon. I suppose you could follow up with a demon, but I doubt it would work out for you.

  • @lordofultima What if you used the super version close enough? Will it result in a situation where it is impossible for the other player to escape? I ask the same question for any other combo that ends close enough from the opponent with enough frame advantage.

  • @IsabelaV Incorrect. In certain hit and idle animations for certain characters, sometimes the standing far jab can hit meaty, causing the roundhouse loop to connect. One of my SSFIV replays has me doing it to Abel, two or three times.

  • Plinking gives you an extra change to hit a link

    say you have a 1 frame link,with linking it becomes a 2 frame link etc

  • I don't understand the point of "plinking", it doesn't do anything. You can just press roundhouse and if you time it correctly you get the same thing. If you don't time the roundhouse correctly you miss either way.

  • @Makingnewnamesisdumb No, if you don't time the roundhouse correctly, if you plink it you can still hit it. That IS the point of plinking.

  • @Makingnewnamesisdumb plinking in simple gives you double the chance of linking something that is hard.

  • @Makingnewnamesisdumb The reason p-linking exists is because it's a more reliable method for hitting one-frame links than double-tapping. You can't physically tap a button twice in succession within two frames, but with p-linking you can. You're giving yourself a two-frame window to hit a one-frame link.

    Also, I'm not sure why lordultima is trying to plink jab, since, as far as I know, that's impossible since it's the lowest priority button in p-linking (priority linking).

  • By the way, wouldn't jab+roundhouse give you roundhouse. I think you can't plink standing jab at all.

  • @FREEdomxxxZGMFX10A Yep, you're right. That plink was basically for nothing, although at the I didn't realize it. I plink HK~MK now, and that's it.

  • @Gutterbreaks The game registers it as HK, then HK+MK, so therefore two HK inputs.

    thats the basis for plink. The game prioritises the two inputs, and selects the higher priority one, which HK +MK , is HK, Essentially it adds a few frames for the link to occur. And this Tokido move only requires 1 frame

  • @SeraphArc well needless to say now since it came out long time ago but capcom released ssf4 to balance out the gameplay, for one in sf4 sagat was wayyyyyy to powerful and it was just awful.

  • Hey just to clarify, you cannot pLink jabs and shorts. short can only be pLinked while crouching because throw will not come out. pLinking only works from stronger buttons to weaker buttons. you cant pLink a jab with a strong because by rolling to strong ur just giving the game the input (jab+strong) which will register as a strong. this is a good video but i just wanted to clarify that pLinking is only from stronger to weaker buttons. the order of strength (priority) is HK,HP,MK,MP,LK,LP

  • @JavitsArias Yeah I know, if I felt like messing with youtube annotations I would clarified this after the fact. I just do the jab normally and plink roundhouse with HK~MK nowadays. Thanks for the heads up though.

    The short plink would make sense since that's what I use for regular roundhouse bnb.

    great stun. decent damage w/o meter usage. pushes opponent to the corner. good meter build. on certain characters it's easy to do it even on crouching cause you can still easily get the far lp (ie. sagat) and st. hk forces stand-up.

    best reason: looks cool and scares your opponent :D

    Loltima, I'm having a disagreement with a friend, who says that you can consistently do the roundhouse loop out of pure muscle memory. I really don't think this is possible, especially not in a fight which is the only time it matters. What are your thoughts? Thanks for the video, it was helpful as usual.

  • Well I'm sure anything is possible, I do other combos from muscle memory, so I imagine the more I do the roundhouse loop in actual matches the more accurate I will become with it.

    Plinking is merely changing the 1 frame link into a 2 frame link, so it's really not that big of deal, I already have to know the basic tempo of the combo to perform it. That said, even top Japanese players double-tap and plink combos to make sure they're as efficient as possible.

  • Just out of curiosity, do you tend to play like Momochi (more defensive) or like Tokido (OMGWTF DEMON FLIP)?

  • Both two of my favorite Akumas, I'd like to say a little of both, but not as good in either area as those two. Haha.

    I get more success zoning players out, and then throwing in occasional mixup for large damage opportunities.
