  • YAPPING?! LOL

Jools was playing awesome piano, Im sure Bibb thought so too

As a musician there is nothing more awesome than playing together with different musicians

  • Dear Mr. Bibb

I will be in Luxembourg on the 10th of the 11th. If I could meet you, that would totally make my day (week, month, year...)

I can show you my father's house ;)

    ;)

  • Jools Holland did some seriously good blues-piano there. Don't mess with Jools!

  • Which year was this record from?

  • hey hey haven't seen ya since Nottingham.......

  • Jools definatly did something special to that song! frontman i totally agree about that piano!!!

  • Oh what memories of the first time My Angel Being shared this with me. Fantastic music-man. :-)))

  • OMG!! Never though a brother would keep the tradition of Blues alive..

My God.. This must the best I´ve heard since the days of SRV ahd Johnny Cash...

So good, soo rythmic and so funky..

You are in my Top 5 Guitarists for sure...

  • Fantastical musician!!!! Voice from heaven and comand of his instrument the acoustic of which I love. Lyrics of his music just what the world needs to hear. What a gem of a share. Thanks again for your sharing with me, my Angel being. <3 U :-)

  • Eric Bibb is the real deal......

  • I love his version of this song. I remember first hearing this song on KPLU 88.5FM and it gave me the creeps!

  • absolutely great - basic power coming from the middle of the heart!

  • the voice stunnin`

the guitar.... better than watchin` the moon at night

    the piano... shit good man!

  • It's the video not Eric, if there is one thing Eric can do its keep the rhythm. Seems to me as though the video's sound is skipping

  • Is it the video or is eric having trouble with keeping the rhythm?

  • I haven't noticed anything like this... But I'm not a musician :)

  • @davidcarr90 Its the piano syncopation thats making it sound like that!

  • @davidcarr90 It is deffinately not Mr. Bibb. That obnoxious piano player is hosing up the rhythm.

  • I call bullshit. I think Jools brought some serious awesome to that. Is no one aware of how ridiculously difficult and tasteful that piano part is? I bet Eric Bibb was lovin' that. Just one musician's thought here.

  • Hmm, I starting to think Dave Matthews is a wannabe Eric Bibb.

  • @rabbitshirt Funny how the imitation gets more play than the original... just sayin'. The wannabes can't approach the master

  • I would kill for the tab.

  • the piano did make it worse

  • Love it! Eric has a soulful, unique, sound to his voice!

  • I'd much prefer just the guitar, but i don't think the piano ruined it.

  • I just listened to Eric singing it solo and I aggree Holland spoilt it with that dam pianoooo...I am going to fav the solo version...

  • its more razzamataz i think.

  • I agree totally, Im just cringing at the thought of Eric having to play with that yapping in the back ground. He did very well not to top the guy. Such a cool song.

  • Without the piano it would sound very good.

    Jools Holland destroyed this performance.

  • i think it added another dimension to the song. made it more jazzy

  • Capo 2nd fret

    DADGBD

  • No that's way off mate!

  • Jools in on top form as usual apart from over playing, being out of time, and dropping the odd bum note like 1:51 and 2:27 and 2:36 to name but a few - it's pure class I tell ya

  • Does anyone have any idea what tuning Eric is using here?

  • standard tuning...capo 2nd fret. If you don't have a capo, tune up a full tone. ie instead of(from the lowest or thickest string) E A D G B e, it will be, F# B E A C# F#

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for your reply but I don't think that is standard tuning - no way! The lowest note he plays is E not F#.

Also the chord voicings where he is using a lot of open strings are all wrong for standard tuning.

He uses DADGAD a lot and also drop D but it's neither of those... still working on it - will let you know if I suss it out :o)

    Cheers

    M

  • Sorry, its capo 3rd fret...wtf, my bad...to me, it sounds like it is in the key of B...so yeah, looking and listening more closely it isn't standard as i can also hear an open b string ringing out, yet the capo is on the 3rd fret, sooo good luck with it lol...I wont have internet for the next couple of weeks, but when i get back i promise to work it out!

  • Think I've sussed it -CADGAE capo 2nd/3rd fret depends on what tuning the guitar is set to originally

Bit of a stretch but can be done!

  • Great, love this guy!

    -- Al

  • Class.

  • I think it doesn't help jools that alot of his lower notes are not coming through on this video

  • Really? I think it helps everyone quite a lot - I reckon it's a shame a lot of his higher notes ARE coming through - especially the BUM NOTES!!! All in all, I think we can hear waaay too many of Jools' 'notes' as it is thank you!

Quite ironic really when he says at the end of the clip that everything Eric Bibb touches turns to gold, which is true of course, whereas the complete opposite is true of the cloth eared ham-fisted Holland - everything he plays over turns to shit!

    What a tosser :o)

  • I think Jools clutters the song with the piano.

  • No, he just didn't play in the style of the song. I have to say that Jools could of done it better.

  • great bass, Dave! Pianist and guitarist were not too bad either....

  • Real fantastic. Bless ya

  • What an awesome musician!

  • Eric Bibb is just sublime as usual what a shame Jools couldn't help widdling all over it (as usual). Someone should tell him the 'less is more' thing, or better still wheel him out to introduce the acts and then lock him in the dressing room til they're finished :-)

  • so true, jools makes everything crap,

    but eric is brilliant.

  • awesome stuff, i saw him live at the acoustic tent glastonbury 07, he was absolutely amazing!

  • I am in love with this man ever since I heard him supporting Ladysmith Black Mambosa in Edinburgh - I cannot believe he's in his 50's!

  • J'viens de découvrir et je suis tombée sous le charme... La voix, la musique... Y'a quelquechose ^^

  • This guy's an amazing talent. I heard him last night on Mike Harding's Folk Show on BBC Radio 2. He's fantastic. Dante
