I'm guessing Nintendo didn't want to make millions of copies of Super Mario Bros AllStars if it turned out people didn't want 'em. Most of the games on AllStars were ones people already owned on the NES anyways (especially the first Super Mario Bros, which shipped with many of the consoles).

So Nintendo just matched the demand of the individual consumer. It just sucked waiting for it to come through the mail. :-\

I have the copy of Super Mario All-Stars that has Super Mario World included in same cartage and Luigi in Super Mario World was changed to look like he does in Super Mario All-Stars and not a Mario color swap in the original Super Mario World game. It called Super Mario All-Stars+Super Mario World and it was a Toys R US Exclusive that came with some SNES slim models (aka SNES 2) but it's not as rare as the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy I own

I love how Nintendo never comments on Genesis or Game Gear in it's ads, because they're so much more powerful than SNES or Game Boy. Still, it cost 400,000 batteries to keep a game gear going for 12 seconds, but Genesis really was better IMO.

i worked at a kay-bee toys store back in '94, and was able to get my grubby little hands on the game cartridge from the snes kiosk we had. it's mario all stars and mario world on the same cartridge. it's still got my original saves!

The 'Super Set' is circa 1994. Back in those days, they still stocked the consoles on the shelves like everything else and they weren't locked up in a case. I bought one, of course because my ex-girlfriend stole my first SNES after she moved out. Ironically, I bought this set back then so my new girlfriend (now wife) and I could play video games together. Those were the days.

I liked the Genesis better. It had way better games

Sonic 1-Knuckles,Splatterhouse 2 and 3,Streets of Rage 1-3,Shinobi 3,Revenge of Shinobi,Ristar,Golden Axe,Comix Zone,Among many others.

The only SNES games I liked was Zelda,DKC 1-3,Super Metroid. The rest SUCKED.

@snake2006 it sorta depends on how you look at it, I grew up on SNES so there are a ton of games I can think of that were really amazing, like starfox I really liked, secret of mana, final fantast 3, super star wars, super the empire strikes back, super return of the jedi, F-zero, megaman X 1, 2, and 3, super ghouls N ghosts, yoshi's island, not to mention those ones you brought up,so im my opinion the SNES was better since it had all the games I liked, and I grew up with it.

I grew up with both actually, when they were both in their prime. I used to deliver papers every morning and saved my money and birthday money and such, mowing lawns, saved the money and bought both consoles.

But I preferred the Genesis more and have way more Genesis carts than SNES.

Anything multiplatform I got on the Genesis since Liked it more. The SNES was for the exclusives.

Like I said I don't hate the SNES, it still had amazing games such as the Mega Man series,Donkey Kong Country series,Super Metroid,Castlevaina 4,Contra III,UN Squadron.

But I just prefered the Genesis with Shinobi games,Splatterhouse,Sonic,Comi­x Zone,Golden Axe to name a few. Both were amazing consoles and had their exclusive titles.Unlike today where there isn't much difference between 360's and PS3 library.

It would be a pitty but only people to blame is Nintendo. Why? They have been ignoring the people who buy their games and trying to cater to the casual users. Sure they bought the hardware at first, but now where are their Wii's, sitting collecting dust. These people will only buy one or 2 games or just want to play Wii sports which was a pack in and that is it. Nintendo was foolish with this new move, they ignored their fanbase to cater to people who don't buy games.

nowadays you can get the console at a retro games dealer or if you have the Wii you can dowload the Super Mario World from Wii Shop Channel and buy the Mario All Stars as a collectors edition. That to me would be waaaaaaaaaay worth it in the long run.

@DracoAzule then you can have multiple gaming systems and hundreds of games on one little USB drive that you can take with you anywhere.. plus, how hard is it to unplug the monitor and then plug your computer into the back of your TV?? Most newer tv's have an input jack for a computer to monitor cord..i know both of mine do.

@DracoAzule plus it's much easier to just throw some roms and emulators onto a SD usb and take it wherever you want to play than it is to unplug a bulky PS3, unhook the power cord, unhook the AV cords, grab the cords, system, and controller and then hook it all back up to a different tv. Plus, how many different TVs do you play your ps3 on regularly? It's not a chore to sit infront of a computer screen with a controller and play a game...especially if you have a laptop.
