  • why the background noise? the mac itself?

  • @krzemianpl - I think I had to turn up the level on this recording due to the fact that I was speaking more quietly than usual.

  • Thank you for all theses great videos, they're really helpful. I have a Samson hand held mic and I'm using the KV connection that also lets you plug in headphones, but I can't get rid of the hiss. How are you able to do this?

  • Good sound... Are you familiar with the DigiDesign Mbox? That's what I have my mics plugged into.. Could I plug the headphone jack on that into my iPhone to record better quality audio when I'm shooting video at home? Do you know how I would do this? Basically, how do you run an audio line in into the iPhone for video recording?

  • @setYourselfFreelance - I've used an mbox before - basically, you need a different adapter (for line-level audio) from KV Connection - find more information on my lifeisaprayer-dot-com articles, under audio/video stuff.

  • @geerlingguy Why couldn't I just plug the headphone out on the Mbox into the line in on the iPhone? As long as the level wasn't too high.....

  • @elliottsongs - Unfortunately, there are two problems:

    1. There is an impedance mismatch between the line-level (or headphone-level) output on your Mbox and the iPhone.

    2. The pins on the TRRS connector on the iPhone are not the same as the pins for a simple headphone-to-headphone (TRS) cable.

The easiest solution is to simply buy the KVConnection cable.

  • @geerlingguy Got it...thanks! Then, one other question...how do you get the level right going into the iPhone? Is there a way to set the input sensitivity on the iPhone?

  • @setYourselfFreelance - You can do this in the FiRe app, but not in any other iPhone app I'm aware of. You're limited to making level adjustments before the iPhone, for the most part.

  • @archstlmedia Thanks...looks like a pretty cool little app.. Too bad it doesn't do video, but I guess I could use it to get the input signal right before shooting video in the native app

  • You are correct in that I'm using iPhone 4, griffin iMic, and shure SM58. Connected to the bottom is a simple XLR to Phono adapter. And I'm using the KVConnection line to mic 1/8" adapter.

  • Hi,

Can you provide a specific list of equipment you are using and how it is connected?

    It appears you are using:

    1. iPhone 4

    2. KV Connector (which one)

    3.Shure SM58 Mic

    4. What is connected to bottom of Shure SM58 Mic?

    5. Are you using the griffin iMic?

    Thanks
