@neemz2000 Many people "suggested" bringing DW back, but it was that female head of drama who decided to have it brought back. ReTarD hadn't the power to make that sort of decision, he was only a "writer".
I enjoy individual episodes of doctor who under RTD, but they are almost like watching a bright, fast-moving pop video whereas the original series - particularly in pertwee and tom baker's earlier seasons - was more like watching a deliberate, slower-paced movie. In many ways it isn't the show it was in the old days. Episodes like Blink, School Reunion and The Empty Child have been very strong, but the tone of the program is often too shrill and rushed, even after moffat replaced RTD...
@DavyTom71 Oh grow the fuck up. Moffat#s Doctor Who is absolutely fine, acheving great ratings and attracting great talents. I'd pick "The Doctor's Wife" over "Colony in Space" anyday. Old Who is full of very slow shit.
@ZipZagginGallifrey Talk about slow sh!t, what about the story arcs that Muppet has go on over seasons. That's longer than anything in the original DW & it's sh!t. Have you seen Victory of the Daleks? The Dr's Wife: the crew exit the badly lit TARDIS into a place which has the exact same bad lighting & fog everywhere to cover up the sh!tty story & sh!tty sets -change the channel- The Dr's Wife is all about shocks & isn't made for repeated viewing, like East Enders which also gets high ratings ;P
I'm pretty sure that RTD wasn't fired and that he just left. It's hard to believe but he prob didn't feel like it any more, just like when David T. said it was the best part in the world but left anyway. Steven Moffat was asked by RTD to take over from him pretty early on, before he wrote the library one. If anything Dr. Who is ow worse with Moffat in charge, but much better that there's no more over-acting Tennant. Too bad the new guy get all the same lines as Tennant though.
Or in OTHER words, as a certain Doctor said in the Face of Evil, "You know the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit the views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering." And since I'm not sure you're powerful...
This guy can't even be consistent. At one point, he's saying that RTD purposely created a gap year to deny the BBC a whole year's worth of DW... Then he says that the gap year is proof that the BBC fired RTD. Or in other words, "We've always been at war with Eastasia!"
@grumpygeezertype RTD didn't resurrect the show; Lorraine Heggessey and Jane Tranter did. The only thing we need to thank RTD for is finally getting his fat warty ass on a plane and bogging off to L.A. with the other self-important Hollywood hacks where he belongs.
Lorraine Heggessey and Jane Tranter didn't suggest bringing Doctor Wjo back, RTD did.

RTD didn't manage destroy Dr Who, but he gave it a damn good try. Now Moffat is really screwing up the show. RIP, Doctor; you shall be missed

@ZipZagginGallifrey
If the new DW is fine, why are fewer and fewer people watching it? People are allowed to have an opinion, even narcissistic wankers like you

While I don't like RTD's egomania, he has done well to resurrect the show.
This video is out of date.
