UNBEATABLE WAND..does that refer to the master of the wand or the wand itself? if it refers to the master, then yes, it would be a mistake. otherwise, the book is completely correct. As the wand was not destroyed (except the film hp7 part 2 harry breaks it)

You don't have to defeat the one wielding the elder wand, as long as you disarm them from it, the opponent is beaten..

Modified and erased are 2 different things:

Hermione made her parents memories so that they believed they lived there life as completely different people. That is modifying.

Wiping would mean making the Death Eaters have no recollection of the incident whatsoever. They would have no clue what had happened to them.

Modified is not erased. Also, the other one is in a children's tale; it may be very powerful, but isn't unbeatable. But I've heard those a hundred times and had the same responses to them.

J.K Rowling actually answered the memory one. Hermione's never erased someones memory before,but she's modified them to believe they were different people. Different spells.:)
